The only thing that I hated about this movie was how badly unrealistic the shootouts were....Like how the flying fuck does ONE guy not get killed by like TEN dudes with MP5's and he's only armed with a 9mm pistol? They literally shower bullets at his direction and yet....not a scratch.

i re-watched this again today. the ending's really dramatic. i don't know if i could do that to the person i loved, no matter her background. plus she was carrying his child. his face was really pale whe he learned of this.

A landmark picture in Korean filmaking! Even Surpassed Titanic's records there. Just goes to show they can make a impressive movie with a budget of 5 million. Hollywood on the other hand needs at least 120 million to create a disaster called Miami Vice.

@666Nukes In fact, the American A-List actors demand obscene amounts of money and the distribution companies pour untold amount of money on marketing and anciliary products. That is how a blockbuster movie today costs at least 100M$ to make. Thanks to fat-cat actor' agents. The other reason is that the MGMs of this world actually agree to these numbers in a PFD agreement.

These are actually used more today in the frame of Independent movie productions and can still be striken with companies like Miramax, to distribute your independent movie, but understand that a lot of say will come from them in the production. This is when you loose your 'independence'. I'd say, that if you don't know the ropes of mid-size budget movie makeing(1-5M$)...learn the mechanics of making a film with small productions, shorts mainly.

@2OQP Thanks. Are you involved with the entertainment industry in Korea? I've seen a number of good films come out of there. What I don't get is that there are so few original films that get a theatrical release. Seems like everything is a remake or a sequel. It's bullshit. I saw this horror film Trick R' Treat that was great, a really well done horror film, and it didn't get a theatrical release. Just crazy.

@ar4216 Not at all. But if I could push a button and that would happen and be succesful at it, I'd push it in an heartbeat. From what I know, (I have been mingling with Koreans in Montreal), this is the country to be in, in this decade, bar none. I plan to go anyway in 2012 and spend 2-3 weeks just to get my feet wet. To go back on the subject though, you see making films is not a risky business, financing the making of a film is a risky business. One doesn't want to loose what is acquired.

This is a great movie.Really good story with super action plus people you care about. Subtitles were no problem. I dont know Korean so I would not know the actual translation. Also checkout a movie called Tube and another called Friends.

It's not 1999; 2003 actually. I would say this movie is better than most Hollywood movies. Hollywood movies nowadays are dumbed down for kids to watch... Shooting movie? It's more of a mix of extreme shooting, romance, and some war elements.

It's about several North Korean 8th Special Forces sent to South Korean to start a war. A new type of bomb is made, one of the Special Forces, sniper trained, falls in love with a special agent in South Korean.
