Not a bad compact swing, but one thing I notice is your not stepping into the ball. I know a lot of pros like David Wright and Albert Pujols just step in the same spot, but they have perfected that style for them and well they have tremendous bat speed. Your young you need to work on shifting your weight from your back foot to the front. Your losing a lot of power by just torque alone. Pick up Ted Williams 'The Science of Hitting'. It's a great resource for a fundamentally sound swing.
first of all, we cant tell you wats wrong because the camera is facing your back, second of all dont listen to more than 1/2 of these people their wrong
First of all , we cant tell you whats wrong because of the way the cameras facing, have it iinfront of you second of all dont listen to half of the people their wrong
Your only using your arms. Hip rotation is what drives the ball, the arms and torso guide the path of the ball. Thats all I see your doing wrong. Unless your rolling the bat over. This problem can be fixed by holding the bat with your fingers and not your palms. Also line your knuckles up and that should help some as well.
@chuba0603 its going to go up tho im so sick of people saying that look at any hitter even if they start it down when they stride it goes back up then down again so isnt that the longest? even joe morgan who was known for trying to keep it down with that little flapp he did would rise it back up again then start the swing you would have NO power if it started down
u need to load when the pitcher has his hand backwards about to throw. put 75 percent of ur weight backwards and transfer that weight during the swing. when u finish ur front leg shud be stiff and the back one should look kind of like an L. also, use your body when you swing. never arm swing
like some people have said to try and wait on the ball more and stay back on you back foot.. plus try to incorporate your lower half... you have good hands, staying back and using your lower half more will really help your swing... It looks like my swing when I was a junior in highschool... I hit with a guy that played for the Rice owls when they won their national championship and he also play all the way up to triple a with the mariners til he blew out his knee.....
Slow down, Let yourself reset and get back into a position you can hit in. Also the camp i teach i have my plays go way wider in their stance, it makes it so your body is more balenced. Go with about a 40 inch stance from your right leg to your left. Also your back leg should be pointing in more so you can rotate your hips a little easier.
also idk if you have a problem with loading but if u tap your left foot while the pitcher is winding up your body naturally keeps your wait back thats a little tip for everyone
I'm not sure what your problem is but your swing looks good short and compact. The only things I would suggest is to turn in your back foot so you can drive with more power from your hips and use your back elbow to drive the bat through the ball.
It looks like your swinging with your stride. Which measn that as your front foot moves forward your hands go with it. Remember stride and hit, not stride AND hit.
stay back. youre just throwing your bat head out there. if you want more power and still hit for contact stay back and drive the bat head through the zone.
u have alot of wasted movement, u arnt loading your weight back when ur picking up your front foot which is where lack of power to the opposite field comes from. just picking up ur front foot and setting it down does u no good, make sure u transfer ur weight... other than that ur hands look solid and u have a pretty solid swing
Everything is great. Try working harder on keeping your hands closer to your chest. It looks a little like your looping. But other than that everything looks good.
your doing great on staying back with the weight on your back leg. But I would say that your need to keep your hand higher, that will make it easier to shift to an inside or offspeed pitch..
ur all wrong when he swings he needs to swing down on the ball and as hes swinging he needs to lunge backwards so ur weight is on your back foot my coaches son plays on the houston astros and he was a famous hitting coach i was fortunate enough to have him :PP
ur front leg loks out and ur bak leg is bent then u finish high and come up on the back toe like swing it up for more help the baseball factory has videos that also help his name is matt schilling an excellent teacher
i know you might think im young but i go to a professional hitting instructor
ok so 1st u need to widen your stance then right b4 the ball ist thrown or when it is get in ur launch position (take a step) then ur hips need to fire through and then ur hands you want to try and get them close like at the same time then in ur swing you need to come short to the ball and what ur doing is ur casting which makes ur swing longer so u need to stay short then
yes yes yes. that is exactly what i was gonna say. this is what i used to do, and when i started doing what you just said, you get a whole lot more power.
You have a "metal bat" swing. There was a comment posted earlier about "casting" and is caused by using metal bats. What you need to do is keep your hands "inside the ball." Go out and get yourself a couple of good wood bats and hit 200 balls off a tee everyday. Work on hitting the ball up the middle and the other way. When you get in the cage, let the ball get deeper in the zone and work on staying back and hitting the ball the other way.
What is really happening is that your casting your hands around the ball. Causes slower hands to ball. Hand move to the ball, while leaving the bat head later in the swing. This is what is called hitting inside the ball; which is what you want and is quicker to the ball allowing you more time to see it. Casting your hands causes you to create a long swing.
My guess is that you probably hit very well but have trouble with faster pitching (>70mph). It is hard to freeze this video at the right spot, but I think you have what is called "disconnection". In other words, your hands should stay closer ("connected") to your back shoulder a little longer. Your arms have extended away from your body before contact, which loses power and takes more time. Look up "rotational hitting" and "connection" on Google for more details.
I don't think anyone here knows what they are talking about. You're doing a good job at spreading the ball all around the field but your swing is too upright. If you look at all of the power hitters swings such as Mickey Mantle or Roger Maris, their swings all revolve around a low center of gravity, their front leg perfectly aligned with the rest of their body at a slant, and their back leg bent. Try to avoid opening up your front leg. Think about trying to pop a balloon with a closed foot
Then, when you take your swing your foot will open accordingly. Try to avoid rapping your bat around your back shoulder before you swing, because it will result in alot of uppercut swings and many popups and groundouts. Overall you have a pretty swing and you look pretty athletic so just get your reps in and keep practicing and your coaches will help you in whatever hitches you may have in your swing at a certain time.
first let the ball get in a bit more, you dont need to pull everything. and the only thing i see after that is if you pull your elbows in closer together you'll get quite a bit more bat speed.
ok you need to cut out the batt and make it all hallow then fill it cork. then cap off the top and bam just keep doin wut ur doin and u will be a huge star
Your load is totally fine. Everyone else is saying it wrong. Short and Compact swing will give you the power and contact.
