Isn't it kind of odd how Germany's fascist party labeled itself as a socialist party? I mean, the USSR was oppressive, but at least they were honest in that they were leftist. Let me rephrase. The leading figures of the Empire believed in the force. Darth Vader nearly choked an officer to death for saying he didn't believe in 'his magic'.

It has been well established that th Empire, with few but notable exceptions like Thrawn, was very xenophobic. In 'Shadow of the Empire' it is stated Thrawn is one of the only 'alien' officers in the Fleet, due too the Emperors xenophobia. I never made up an excuse. I pointed out you got the book wrong and yes it is the expanded universe.
