  • @morbitron6 i like all them things,,bit im still a jerk face ask my GF LOL

  • Gump! Why did you put that rifle together so fast? 'You told me to drill Sargent"

  • I recently got a 91/30 for about $100. I was just wondering what is the price difference in a 91/30 and one of the less common M38's or M44's.

  • Thank you for showing this. I just picked up one on Friday, and I want to learn as much as I can. Thanks again.

  • I'm getting one of these for $80 yes $80, can't wait :) :) :) :) Already got my marksman books out :) Great Video

  • Hey im looking for a old 3.5x scope that they used for the mosin's know were i can find one?

  • why when you are removing the bands it looks as if it requires more force to take them off than it does to put them back into place? or did you not put them on fully?

  • I have the cossack but I really really want a Fin or an m44. haha I love Mosin Nagants though!

  • its a good thing you put that ammo completely out of the way, you dont want that ammo deciding to load itself....man you just cant trust ammo these days they have a mind of there own!

  • One of the best rifles on the planet, underrated.

  • @TaZ101SAGA I entirely agree. ( a random story... I got in an argument with a kid about whose rifle was better and My Mosin was wrecking thousand yard targets with a long eye relief scope and His savage arms was struggling at best)

  • got mine today thx for the vid....its like a glock .......but not LOL

  • Thanks for posting this vid!!!! I had little idea of what all those little parts were for. I learned a lot!! THANKS!!!

  • The broken auto-focus of your camera ruins the video, get a new camera.

  • the rear one is tougher? well im fucked then. i got the rear one off in less then 2 seconds the front i been working on for ten minutes and cant get the pos off

  • im going to get a m44 in about a month and i was wondering can u remove the bayonet

  • I cannot get my cleaning rod to come out. What do I do?

  • @ProudofAmerica1 Put a few drops of oil on it, and let it stand upright for a few days?

  • No, thankyou. Now I have a better ideal on the maintnance of my rifle now.

  • is there anything equivalent to the combination tool i can use

  • i love to see a video about a gun that doesnt have comments like "lol that gun's in a video game!"

  • TY, taking mine apart to clean now

  • He took the fucking gun apart :O

  • Good video. Thanks. I'm wiping the cosmoline off my "new" m44 right now.

  • show me don`t tell me, think you!

  • great vid. I just got learned.

  • Thanks this video help me learn my gun.

  • Dumb question. I just got a 91/30 and I am assuming that the assembly and dis-assembly on the 91/30 is virtually the same?

  • @Tookie1616 Yep. I'm dissassembling mine as I type this.

  • your welcome

  • i cant unscrew my cleaning rod. please help.

    i got a mosin nagant 91/30

  • Man that was easy :)

  • @davidsquall351 thats whats good about that mosin nagant easy to use easy to disassembl and easy to fix :D

  • did not know you could unjam it like that

  • I think I watched thies two videos like 50 times so far (Part 1,Part 2)

thatnk you for makeing them. 2 thumbs up :)

  • This was the first gun I bought and still my favorite. Expensive to shoot all day but worth it. I shot through both sides of a steel rim with one shot. also the cheapest gin I bought. I wish ammo was cheaper.

  • I stand corrected. It has been a while since i made this video and upon review the Mosin Nagant does cock on Opening.

  • @erieordnancejim I have the little pamphlet Century Internation Arms includes with these rifles and it says they're cock-on-closing.

  • @erieordnancejim The manual says it is cock on closing. I'm not a Mosin Expert or anything, so I'm not claiming one way or the other. It's just something I noticed when looking through the manual.

  • is the mosin cock on open or cock on close?

  • @BAGboy0032 on closing that is why there is some resistance in forward movement.

  • Comment removed

  • @erieordnancejim Sorry, it is cock on opening just like the Mauser 98.

  • @BAGboy0032 Actually it's Charge on open.

  • the jag.... what does it do?

  • The jag is a device that allows a cleaning patch to have a compression fit. In the bore. So that it can be scrubbed with the jag & patch or just used to push the patches out of the barrel. Which is much quicker.

Lay a patch over the chamber and push the jag into the chamber . Or wrap a patch around your jag.

There are two basic types of jag one relies on pushing the jag with the front of the jag and the other relies on a rough outer diameter to grip the patch.

  • i would tell all to buy one of these,,,,a real hoot to shoot...i love the flame that comes out of barrel

  • @edgeof1

Thats only on the Carbine models.

  • My magazine ejector latch thing on the bottom of mine won't open unless I pry it with something. WTF?

  • how much do they sell for

  • 80 - 200 dollars approx.

  • mine didnt come with a kit. where can i get one?

  • @alankills

Ebay or GunBroker. But honestly the kit is nothing special. Buy the multitool and thats all you really need.

  • Wsio zjbs pozdrawiam :D

  • shit,i dont have a cleaning rod

  • most usefull video i have found, thank you

  • Thanks for the video, it really helped...do you know where I can get some stripper clips?

  • i just bought mine today and got back from shooting it.

its a REALLY tough gun lol, it kicks hard, and you gotta act like you wanna beat the hell out of it when you're chambering a new round. you definitely cannot be gentle with it haha.

but its a ton of fun to shoot, probably my most accurate rifle yet.

  • yeah I can totally relate to the whole "gotta beat the shit out of it so the damn bolt handle can pop open to eject the casing" yeah its a real bitch to get that thing open sometimes, especially when you run it hot, it could probably be that I am using that hradcore 50 year old military surplus, I heard it was something to do with the casing of the shell that makes it hard to eject, I don't think new factory ammo would do that.

  • It could be the lacquer coating you're referring to on some surplus.

I shoot Yugoslavian surplus and have had no issues, the bolt doesn't give me much of a fit.

  • i just used winchester brand ammo yesterday at the range and was quite impressed with it, bolt did not stick and casings ejected flawlessly

  • a lot of this resistance could be from cosmoline. See if you can clean the entire rifle of cosmoline and it should smooth up the action quite a bit. It still requires some force, but the cosmoline really compounds things.

  • what exactly is cosmoline cause my sks had alot on it

  • @eagerbeaver53 cosmoline is that sticky annoying green/brown paste-like grease on older guns. i personally like its smell though.

  • Thank you for that video!

  • ive been entertaining thoughts on getting a mosin nagant is it a good rifle for a "noobie" to own? and how much does the rifle normally cost?

  • Got mine for 79.99 + about 18.75 shipping total = less than $100 at J & G sales, they have the lowest (current) prices. I say current because the gun market has gone from super availablility to backorders and delays, even with ammo. Hurry up and pick up as much surplus ammo as you can. I got 2 cans of 440 rounds for about $215 shipping included 880 total rounds, thats right less than a quarter a round shipped to your door. Visit J & G sales, they seem pretty good.

  • lawliownedu ; GET one fast,you can't go wrong.

  • got one last saturday lol insanely good quality too

  • lawliownedu: GOOD for YOU.write me offline, and I will give you links to get ammo, and stripper clips

  • i can get ammo from the range thats less then 10 minutes away from my house and i dont want a stripper clip but thanks anyway.

  • Yes, J&G Sales has ALWAYS had the best deals...only gone up about $10.00 over the last 12 months ($79.99 is cheapest). They no longer have hand-select options, though, which is disappointing.

Also try AIM Surplus, they go for about the same...I think the only difference is they rate their's as "excellent" grade vs. J&G, which is "very good"...but I haven't purchase from either of them yet.

Go to Century Arms if you want REALLY good M38s and M44s, though.

  • Actually they do have hand-select option, because I ordered one for a family member about a month ago and they did give me that option, however I believe it will have to be through phone ordering and not online, that is if the online option has been disabled, you can still request it by phone i guess. Either way this gun is a beast, the recoil is pretty bad ass, my shoulder is witness to that, yellow and purple 2 days after. Ammo is the cheapest, you can mod it at a fair price, and fairly accura

  • Best ammo prices after searching the internet for a few millenias, and looking over a billion and a half ammo websites i thing sportsmansguide is the best. Overall people get scared because of the membership fee, although you can use the savings on that same day, you also get free shipping on your first order, and 2 $10 certificates, and im not sure but you could probably also try to apply another $10 discount with the various coupon codes that exists for sportsmanguide on the net. 880rds-$161

  • These videos are great but it would sweet if you guys could films areas a little closer!! I just bought a nagant, thank for the instructional.

  • I've been looking for a laminated M44 for a while now. Just cant seem to find one. Always run a cleaning rod from the breech end and not the muzzle end. Other than that great video.

  • This video was made in the context of understanding the mosin nagant and it's military cleaning equipment. The cleaning rod that is military issue dictates that it be used from the muzzle for it is not long enough to pass through the action. In military around the world cleaning from the muzzle is commonly accepted as proper. Reasons include Muzzle loading rifles of the past and the fact that barrel inspection, counter boring , and the use use of muzzle guides are all military practices.

  • Good video. Careful with those grooves and lands though. Thanks

  • Does the same video apply along the lines of the M91/30, sorta?

  • An M44 is basically the same thing as a 91/30, the only difference is it's shorter and the bayonet is permanently attatched.

I actually just now went downstairs to disassemble and cleaned mine (just got one too; used the vid too in fact, as a pretty good guide), and it's almost an identical process [The only difference being messing with the affixed bayonet on the carbine].

  • That's true,muzzle-to-breech motion does not clean the bore as breech-to-muzzle motion does.

  • Thanks again Jim on this video.

In fact, I think he made this video with the gun that I own now, when it was hanging on his shelf!

  • I have a question about my nagant, the barrel wobbles around inside the stock, is it supposed to do this, should it be tighter or should I put padding of some sort inside between the barrel and the stock to keep it from moving. I just got it and shot it 5 times with no problems and accurate as can be.

  • No, it's not. I would probably get that fixed, as it might affect accuracy. The Mosin Nagant is supposed to be a very sturdy rifle, it should not wobble around.

  • i would take it to a gunsmith and have them glass bed it or you could try to do it yourself

  • I used a little piece of leather to pad the barrel, it doesn't move any more

  • Extreme left? Doesn't sound too good!

  • good video thanks a lot man

  • Thanks very much for the information on this gun I have recently attained a mosin nagant 91/30 and its the rifle with full length barrel. though there may be some outstanding differences the bolt and dis assembly is very much the same. also the tools and such that i had also attained with the gun i had no idea how to use. so all around a great informational video.

  • The genius Of Leon Nagant.

    Great video Comrade!!

  • @militaryhistorian67 The only part of the rifle that was actually designed by Nagant was the magazine.

  • good vid

  • Very Good video
