thanks for the kind feedback....i say this a lot and i don't mean to 'dodge' your question but i personally don't think in terms of stumming patterns - my advice is to try and lock into groove of song and play what you feel is appropriate/musical. all the best with your music...dale.
Dale , Thanks for posting this. Just subscribed to your page and digging in to it. I always loved this song. I grew up in that age of great guitar base rock and Journey certainly contributed a ton of great music. I likr your style of teaching/playing. I picked it all up right away. I have not played in 12+ years due to a damaged finger and only recently had the guts to try it again. Thanks again for posting this song, it gave me the hope that I might be able to actually play again!
greatly appreciate the sub....more important i'm very glad your hands are on the guitar again!!! Please let me know if there is any resource i can help with - we Journey fans are a family!
you are truly blessed with the gift of music. keep on rocking dale, my name is terry and im from chattanooga, just found your site a few weeks ago and i love it, keep up the good work.
thanks for the vid Dale, working with a new drummer and he wants to cover this song and i had no idea of it ,you made it alot easier than me actually useing my brain to figure it out.lool.thanks.
I'm glad I got to live those those summer nights and I still remember when Journey was on top of the food chain. I met Schon one time while we were both in the head taking a piss. He was a very cool guy.
Dale ~ been checking out your vids here in Afghainstan on a lousy streaming feed for some time and have to say, you have done your homework! I like you, have amassed a guitar collection - how many do you have? Keep up the great sounds - ROCKINTHEUSA!
Dale - I've commented on one of your tutorials before and I must comment again. Thanks for this lesson! Another very helpful tutorial - Thanks so much! Keep rockin Dale!
Monster tone, dale. Love the depth of the A,E; almost punchy!!! "Thin-line" characteristics of that guitar don't let the highs get overridden at the same time, however. Well EQ'd my friend!!! beautiful instrument with a great understanding of its capability. Rock on!!!!!!
What I like here is your vid deals with the rhythm guitar part. So many tunes are chopped by guitarists who just deal with the lead. That's great and all, but how can anyone play the whole song without the rhythm...
you know i'm thinking about doing some NS solo tutorials....ones that i can cover!! He is amazing - keep checking - i think i'm starting with Who's Crying Now 1st. All the best,
sure appreciate you watching! I'm using a Headstrong Lil King (Princeton clone) 12 watts into 1x12 - Fullddrive 2 Pedal - Xotic clean boost - amp has moderate reverb and treble/bass a bit over half.
THis was SO MUCH HELP!!! I love your clarity. Man I was wondering if you could take a request. It is "After the Fall" I can not find it in Tabs, nor any youtube HOw to play or a tutor on the song? If not Cool If so Please! Rock our world . I know that I am not the only one that feels this way. Thanks anyways, Mitchell
thanks for watching and i appreciate your kind post! After the Fall is one of my FAVE Journey tunes - i've never worked it up but when i do i'll post it. Keep pickin - enjoy your music!
Great video...thanks! It's so simple yet really hard to sound good. Maybe that's why I like it. After 25+ years of playing, it's songs like this that challenge me, because there's a precision about it.
hello.....thanks for giving this a look and your kind post is very appreciated! Neal Schon has a way of making things look 'easy' that really aren't!!! He is amazing - i wish you all the best with your music!
Great job teaching, can you please make a video of how to play the solos, especially the end solo? I am trying to expand my abilities and your lesson is very easy to follow. Thank you!
sure appreciate you watching - i'm running the I-35 into a Fulldrive 2 pedal a bit of Exotic AC Booster and then the Headstrong Lil King. Thanks for the kind post,
very nicely done! i remember when mtv very first started, and there was no picture to it at that time. they played ALOT of journey. neal schon was an awesome guitar player
