I have a 86' model 2. Wicked guitar, its the only year with a 2500 Kahler. His looks to be the model 2 with a German made Charvel/Jackson Shaller Floyd trem. It still has the old Charvel headstock logo also. 87? Excellant guitar for the money.
nothing special, believe me! i changed the SD also with a EMG before selling it, and she SCREAMED! i sold it later in order to buy some new stuff...great guitar in any case!
@paprikachikatjlo I'm looking at one now in a pawn shop with the original pickup. The one you're playing sounds great. What amp are you running? Oh, well. I can always get the same pickup you're running in yours if I don't like the sound.
Hey great video, I'm in the market for a shredder right now and have the opportunity to get a Model 2, now do you think $500-$600 is fair or a bit steep?
I personally think that $500-$600 is way too much. I've negotiated a Model 2 in my neck of the woods for $375 & it's in great shape. My only angst is the fact that I want a new Les Paul first. I have a Strat & a Jackson Dinky, but the Strat is obviously King. I'm actually ready to give up the Jackson (Japanese made) for either the Model 2, Les Paul or BOTH! That's it, maybe I'll get both? ;) Talk'em down to about $400...
Why not? You don't think the p/u selector switch is full bypass or do you actually get your pick caught on em?
I think the whole idea for a single pickup guitar is a budget model.
Even used the model 2 is $200ish, model 4 $400ish and 6 $600ish.
Funny that. Didn't realize a trend in model name/price until I wrote this.
I have a model 2 just as a shredder. I'm thinking of adding a push pull to the volume or maybe a phase just to give it a couple voices instead of just one.
what kind of strings do you have it set up with? i have a model 4, and i just seem to get someone of a flat, thin sound with 9's. it could be just the pickup though.
It sounds great! You just to understand which sound are trying to get out from Your strat...Distortion is a bit extreme pickup, strats are not born to be extreme guitars! cheers
I really don't know about Kramer, even if I think that all such '80 stuff are similar....in any case for Charvel model I think is matter of pickup and bridge arrangement, the neck I suppose is the same. in any case remember that Charvel good models are the ones with LITTLE name on the headstock, and not the big one written in Italic font. Thank for the comments, and about my amp, is a Bugera 6260, with a Artec delay in the S/R and a Tubescreamer in the front!
hahaha did you have that crappy jackson pickup with like the solid cover at first? (like the emg look-a-like?)
I have the original pickup jackson was putting in these that's got more balls than the emg's lemme tell ya... i love the pickup :D

i have this guitar but i switched out the trem for an original floyd rose cuz i hated the stock one, and also put in a duncan invader, a lethal mix!

The good thing about single pup guitars is that you don't hit any of the extra pickups, like on a hss configuration, great video :)

That sounded phenominal. I want an 80's rig Charvel model 1, model 2 or Kramer Baretta.
Does the 2 have a thin fast neck? What amp & effects were you using? Impressive playing and excellent tone.
