Jari is one of the TOP metal composers of the last ten years, because of not just speed and complexity, but of beauty and successfully carrying out the desired emotion of the song. I have seen few artists accomplish what Jari has with Wintersun.

Wintersun released only one album, and it is heavenly from beginning to the end.

@IonIvan1994 Alexi was 18 when the first CoB album came out, Jari had spent years with Ensiferum and music in general when Wintersun came out. Also Wintersun, the album, had songs that were written back in 1995 or so, so you can't really compare since all the CoB albums are recorded with a few months of time reserved for writing and recording the album in question. Not trying to start a fight about who's better, just thought I'd give a new perspective on the matter.

Jari's pretty solid. Alexi used to play decently clean live back in '99 and such, but I haven't really heard or seen anything from him live lately that has impressed me. I'm almost always disappointed. I used to think he was a guitar god back when I was obsessed with him and a huge fanboy, but after I passed that phase I realized that he's pretty average, rather sloppy in fact =(

That being said, I don't even really listen to Finnish metal much anymore besides the occasional Nightwish =P

@MARLINFOREVER666 Alexi is deffinently a phenom, but their are so many other guitarists out their that are better that you will get swallowed up trying to find them all in a heartbeat. The best I have ever seen is Shawn Lane, hands down, period. Alexi has some of the fastest sweeps, even faster than Jari's, but Jari's are infinitely more technical, Steve Vai is the best "In tune" with his guitar, and Michael Romeo is the most Machine like player, never ever misses a beat!

no, its not just sweeping and tapping over and over again that makes a solo. What makes this solo in particular is the intricacies of his techniques applied in this solo. It is not only well written to be appealing to the ear (it's one of my favorite solos in metal. not music altogether just metal) but his technique is nuts! he doesn't just sweep and tap, he sweeps the most awkward arpeggios as if they were nothing, and he even stops midsweep to pick or tap. It's balls out nuts. thats imo tho.
