I've been a solitary practitioner for over 20 years, eclectic style. Been very interested recently in joining Egyptian witchcraft coven in NYC. If anyone has any information on local coven, please let me know.
My last name is BAST and i got a cat from a friend off my (from kitten)wich is real angry , does it mean anything ???. I always thought that bast was the protector off cats ....but i got to protect myself against herr
Oh small question to cat loving people, there's a stray in my neighborhood. Either she's adopted me or I her, I don't know. I feel like she could be my familiar. Regardless, I want/need to know if she's had her shots, if any, and is neutered. Winter only lasts so long and mating season WILL return. -Kitty's getting busy are really loud! I was pretty shocked. - I love her already and want her to be healthy even if she runs away from me.
If she is a stray there is no way to know if she has had her shots and domestic cats have not set breeding season and will go in heat year round so only way to know if she is spayed take her to a vet. Hope she works out for you let me know.
@RromaBoi Turns out she, no, HE, belonged to a neighbor and two other families, as well as his owners, were taking care of him. That is one pampered and ...well-rounded cat!
In some books,Bastet is a lunar Goddess,in other she is a solar Goddess.I use her as a lunar goddess and it works great for me.She is also sometimes the softer side of Sekhmet.I think that Caroline's vidéos are great also as good as other on Yutube since it is HER way she expalins and not the one and onely way.
@animefangirl000 In ancient Egypt, as an 'Eye of Ra' She's was seen as a Solar Goddess, if you have to put her into one of those definitions. She only became a Lunar Goddess when the Greeks connected her with Artemis. Bast was also originally seen with a Lionesses head, hence why she was connected with Sekhmet, but really, they are VERY different Goddesses.
Yes... Hathor was the Goddess of dance, joy, love... drunkenness (spelt that wrong i know). But Bastet is also a Joy goddess. as well as a lunar goddess (acording to a book i own), cats, the home, etc.
regardless... the info is correct. Bastet was know as a joy goddess, and so was Hathor.
Oi... I hate it when people don't clarify where they're getting their mythology... she's going from a Greek-influenced perspective. To the Egyptians, Bast is a solar goddess, one of the eyes of Re and thus a protector deity. She is sometimes pictured with a sistrum - but that usually belonged to Hethert (Hathor). In later mythos and through the influence of the Greeks, Bast became associated with Artemis (making her lunar) and also assumed these traits- love, sex, joy, music, dance, etc.
Sekhmet & Apollo had a son named Ellu he is a Lion Headed God and his Wife was Atriat Child of Horus and Diana give birth to Sabbathiel God of the Sun& Fire (Michael), Labbiel God of the Sea & healing (Raphael) Gabriella Goddess of Plants & Aquaculture (Gabeiel) and Shekeniel God of Love & The Arts (Uriel) in Babylonean Neopaganism.
There are many religions that can kill you based on little evidence of wrong doing. It is not limited to Wicca or even Christianity. People will kill people over disagreements on beliefs.
i've noticed there isnt many links to websites that offer spells to help and protect other people, where is the best place to learn protective spells?
I really hope you aren't referring to me being said Wiccan; nowhere in my posts have I ever said I'm Wiccan or that the practice of Wicca is only done one way; indeed I've even said I view Neo-Wiccan practices as perfectly valid ;-)
Never said you were Wiccan. I just can't stand it when people think they know so much more about a faith, religion, or the spirituality of others. It's a personal thing to everyone - what's right for you, isn't going to be right for someone else. Most Wiccan's that I know would agree with me on that. I have only ever known a few very strict and traditional Wiccan's, and they are people I just don't want to associate with, because they are far too judgemental.
So because someone doesn't practice, they obviously can't know a great deal about a religion? Interesting theory.
Once again you are confusing spirituality and religion as being synonymous. They are not. Please learn the difference between the two before you attempt to post again. Spirituality is personal and varies. Religion has more structure and specific ways. There is overlap between the two however. I don't understand why this is so hard for you to comprehend.
Actually, I have talked to many people of the Catholic faith, they are part of a structured religion, as you say. And yet they each have different ideas about what heaven is, and what happens when we pass. Is that not having eclectic beliefs within a "structured" religion?
And those variations are allowed within the religious structure; those can be seen as what may give them a spiritual feeling in their religion. They can not however, worship Shiva, cast circles, venerate their ancestors, and still call it Catholicism. While those things may provide them with a deep spiritual feeling, it would be incorrect and pretty insulting to still call it Catholicism. Variations are allowed so long as they are still keeping with the core of the religion.
Okay, so then isn't this woman still keeping to the core of Wicca? And those who say Wicca is not a religion, the last time I checked it has been recognized as such, at least where I am. So she's using different Goddesses and Gods on her altar - getting back to my original point, she is varying her practice - but she is still sticking to the core of Wicca, which to me, is the importance of ethics and values in the Wiccan faith.
Keeping to the core of Traditional Wicca? Not really, since the Kemetic deities are obviously not the Lord and Lady of the Isles. Keeping to the core of Neo-Wicca? Sure. However, the video is labeled as "witchcraft" which is not the exact same thing as Wicca; in fact, no deities are needed at all to perform witchcraft (amazing!). Wicca is a religion. Witchcraft isn't. Wicca employs a large portion of witchcraft, but witchcraft is not the whole of Wicca.
DrkbldyParis, Magick originated in Egypt. Wicca and Witchcraft are based on that ancient Magick. So yes, Bast - as well as the other Egyptian Gods and Goddesses - are linked to Witchcraft. Thank you.
I said Witchcraft is not a religion and not all witches, especially not traditional crafters, appreciate their craft being turned into a purely religious object.
Magick, as the spelling has it, was created by Alister Crowley. Please don't use it as though it's ancient.
Wicca, a religion founded in the 1800's by Gerald Gardner, does take roots from ancient Egyptian practices. This, however, does not make Wicca an ancient religion. I believe Paganism is the word you're looking for.
What do you think Alister Crowley based Magick on? He didn't invent it, that's for sure. He put a name to it and made it easier for people to grasp.
I never said Wicca WAS ancient. I said it is BASED on ancient practices.
You write as if you are all knowing about Wicca and Witchcraft - y'er not. Neither am I. It's about continuous learning and self-betterment. I am not sure why you're so uptight if someone chooses to practice in their own way. Don't get so bent outta shape DrkbldyParis.
So...would you like to explain the magical traditions of the Greeks, the Norse, the Celts, the Native Americans, and other cultural magical traditions if magic originated in Egypt?
Traditional Wicca draws from other magical orders and traditions indeed, but it is not synonymous with witchcraft. Wicca employs a good deal of witchcraft practices, but is not solely witchcraft itself.
tuesdays0violet, the point I have tried to make here is that when people are first seeking, when people are wanting to learn, these videos are great for an introduction to get started. I am not claiming to be the all knowing, nor should you or anyone else because spirituality is an individual experience. Blessed Be. )O(
But what good is the introduction if its information is at best, questionable? I'd rather have an introduction be correct rather than easy to access.
And I agree spirituality is dependent on the individual, but that doesn't mean that someone can or should get away with using wrong or questionable information.
Yes, true. But what is correct for one person, isn't always for another. I was part of a coven for 5 years. They believed being part of a coven was the "only way" to be Wiccan. Then when questionable things happened within my coven, I left it. And now I am solitary. Some people think solitary Wicca is wrong. Some do not. So there is a prime example of how diverse Wicca is.
Being initiated into a lineaged coven is the only true way to become a *Traditional* Wiccan, yes. I'm of the understanding that if you are Trad Wiccan and break off to solitary practice, then you're still considered a Trad Wiccan.
I think you are also trying to equate spirituality with religion, which isn't correct I hate to say. Religions are specific practices/beliefs, whereas spirituality really isn't. So spirituality while vary, those who practice a religion should follow some common ideas.
Wow...no. Nice try putting words in my mouth though!
There is overlap between the two; I couldn't imagine following a religion in which I didn't feel spiritual. However, the two are not one in the same. There are those who are spiritual without a religion, and those who follow a religion, but don't really have a spiritual aspect of it (which is sad IMO).
I think you've made your point tuesdays0violet, and I won't argue with you any further because I stand by what I said that faith and spirituality is an individual experience and it's different for every one of us. I think a person should take a little of this, a little of that - into their own being, and then decide what is right for them personally. A Wiccan who says Wicca has to be practiced a specific way, then claims to be part of a "non-organized religion" is only fooling themselves.
Seeing as how it's nearly impossible to understand even a fraction of what you're trying to say, I will continue thus.
Witchcraft being itself a craft is in no way religious. Those who choose to incorporate it into their religious rites are doing just that, such as Wica and Neo-Wicca, both of which require the use of witchcraft in their rites and ceremonies. Witchcraft is simply a craft and can be incorporated into any religion the Crafter may choose to use it with, such as my Catholic friends.
I know a good deal of Catholics, Christians, and Protestants that practice Witchcraft. It is not limited to religion, which is why witches prefer that religion and witchcraft are referred two as two different things. I know many Wiccans, Satanists, Pagans in general who all agree that the two should not be confused. Incorporated, of course, but not used in place of each other. My family is also a long line of non-religious witchcraft practitioners.
Thanks for your video. Bast is such a wonderful and benign goddess. It is sad that she was demonized by some subsequent sects arising from the Abrahamic heresy. Bast is a solar deity important in the battle of light against darkness in all universes where intelligence arises, or is evolving. She is happiness, and fertility. In our universe she manifests herself as a cat, but in other universes she is known to take other forms, always related to light.
That's Felix!
