Why the @ & address to respond? that seems awkward and unnecessary - like an icon shortcut or something might be easy to implement and make it much easier to use. Not sure i want to spend time looking up and retyping email address simply to respond

It enables you to send emails direct to anyone via your buzz chat box, therefore you do not have to log into your email. Would be like sending a direct email from your twitter a/c but without the word limit :-)

i'm not interested in google buzz, it makes sense for there to be a monopoly on social network websites, that way everyone is in the same place. at first it was myspace, facebook did it better, and unless google buzz can do it better than facebook i don't think it will have anything to it. and i don't think buzz will attract as many people as facebook, because facebook is already around, and not everyone uses gmail (though they should, its the best).

I'm already on facebook and your video didn't show me anything spectacular. The picture and YouTube link functionality is exactly the same as facebook. And facebook will scan my address book no matter what mail service I or my friends use.

If more people used thing's like Google Talk, GMail etc. - I would use Buzz. But since I know almost no one that use's google's service's, I don't think I have much use for it.

What DOES make a social network great, is if there is great features and you can comment anything, just like facebook, and if all your friends are on it (pretty important) like facebook.

What's the point with just another social network? If they could just pull facebook stuff together with twitter stuff, at least there would be something new, but who wants to migrate over to another service? I don't think so... How can this kill Facebook? Facebook is its own site. Google Buzz is intergrated in Gmail. Its more of a tool than a Social network. You don't have your own page like in Facebook or MySpace. Its more like Twitter with posts like Facebook.

I am very interested in Google Buzz. I think it offers great functionality, but the problem that it faces currently is widespread adoption. I don't have many people to "Buzz" with now. Most people use, and will continue to use Facebook and Twitter. Buzz right now feels lonely for me, much like Google Wave, which I am the only one that has it in my group of friends and family.
