best overclock i ever managed (i haven't tried much) was an old pentium 3 rated at 650 mhz up to 910 mhz. just the OEM heatsink fan. it was a slot 1 type chip. 71.4% - did it with an Asus P3B-F rev. 1.04.
when i first bought it back in like 1999, i just kept it at 866 to be safe, but once the P3 got outdated and i upgraded i used this board as a file server on the LAN and bumped it to 910. it was on for 7 months, and then the power went out.
dude i tryed to do a overclock it worked used my custom made liquid nitro thing its almost like a watercooling system but it is different no plastic tubes or theyde freeze it goes back to the tank then out again and i made it to 16ghz quadcore sry no video it was to big like a hour long and its 2gb heh
but no lie at all it works i use it as a server atm
When you put in the liquid nitrogen in I sereously thought you where dead. I have a sugestion though, How about you put cubes of dry ice in the liquid nitrogen?
great experiment.of course you could damaged the cpu if you were using the original heatsink.you are the MAN man.you overclocked this ??????? cpu to 3.8 (stable)
And the point of this....I always wandered why everyone thought 4Ghz was so cool on the P4s considering they berely increased in performance with a 1ghz OC. They were shit processors made purely to hit high speeds with no true performance. Cool, you hit 4ghz with an old Pentium. Now go benchmark it so everyone can laugh at how slow it still is lol.
i overclocked my amd from 2.6 to 2.7ghz, it was a pretty tense moment, i thought my pc would crash huge, melt down, burn up who knows? anyways all went well and i added 3 points to my benchmark. well worth the risk!
that's insane, lol like a poor gamer's dream. i haven't tried overclocking my cpu yet but so far i managed to get my geforce 6200 up from 285/800 to 325/875 and so far it's good. if i ever get the guts to look into overclocking my celeron though, i think i'll try taking it from 2.4 ghz to somewhere around 3.2
Liquid Nitrogen is rather expensive if I recall correctly, and on top of that you would need a constant supply of it, so in the end it would probably be cheaper just to buy a new computer...
Where the hell do you people keep getting your hands on liquid nitrogen? I'm sure in the future you can find liquid nitrogen at every corner drug store but here in 2007 its kinda hard to come by.
I totally suck at any overclocking, as I have never oc'd my P4 2.0GHz although I would like now... but -100 degrees C? That is just SICK, it would freeze the blood in your veins in a few seconds... COOL!!!
"How many people are going to say this is not logical or that there are way faster CPUs...
Its a OVERCLOCKING CONTEST, so you get ANY CPU, and the more you can overclock it, e.g. 100Mhz to 1.1Ghz would mean that its a 1000% overclock, clearly beating 200%, but obviously it would still be slower (and probably not possible either!)
So its the higher xxx% of overclock that matters, not the final clockspeed or it actually being ANY use at all."

right the pentium 3 made grounds for the pentium M and other processors and they are still being made for embedded applications I have this old pentium 3 system and it runs without a fan because I use AS5 and a socket 462 heatsink where the processor from that was fried
Well, if I'm not mistaking, the 486 was overclocked from 25MHz to 247MHz which is 988% OC... The processor lasted for 2-3minutes and then blew up. At least that's what they said... But it was never recorded so it all might just be crap.
Yeh I am not sure about that, I know that older cpu's could be OC'd by changing the crystals which could sometimes give a 200% OC but I doubt any of these where recorded.
Celerons have always had quite a bit of headroom, even with stock air cooling. Second-gen Pentium II Celerons were overclockers' favorites back in the day. 366 (66x5.5) Celerons could hit 500 (100x5) without difficulty or instability on stock cooling, and match the "faster" Pentium IIs in theory and in practice.
I notice that the multiplier number never changed. I'd bet that unlocking the multiplier would have allowed more headroom, though I'm not sure how on that Celeron.
that is SICK...after watching this twice it makes me wonder about my system...but iv only gotten my AMD FX 62 2.8 and 3.6 stable...but thats not so bad considering Im air cooling LOL very nice, props boys, props.
i thort they have 2ghz fsbs dont they? i dont know much about them lol i build intel systems, i have been a fan of amd since i got my first k6-2 450mhz haha, i gotta start looking into building some amd systems.

I have managed to OC a 2.8 Celly up to 3.2 without any voltage adjustments
bikegeekccp 3 years ago
I have OC'ed my E6750 from 2.66 to 3.6 without even touching the Voltage also.
Purely with air cooling.
I clocked it back to 3.2 since there is no real difference between 3.6 and 3.2.

im looking into buying a nice amd agp board considering i just spent 150 bnucks on a 7300 gt and i got agp instead of pci-e :(
do you have any recomendations for an amd gaming system? like amd processor what you reckon would be minimum about 6000+?
fenderbender91 4 years ago

;)
AaronNicoli 4 years ago
HOLY FUCK
dual dual channel!
thats like so much bandwith lol....
and what do you mean by tri core? three cpus?
holy shit... technology is moving sooooo fast... i didnt even know fsbs were up to 1800mhz yet
and definatly didnt know ram was up to 1800
last i heard, they were ar 1333, with ddr3 1333.
anways, maybe coz im in australia, technology kinda not up to date here. LOL
fenderbender91 4 years ago
I am in Aust too lol! From Canberra.
Anyway, yeh the tri-core AMD's will be 3 dies (ie 3 cores) on one waffer.
As for the FSB's at 1800 they aint yet but will be when that cpu I want is released around March.
And yes RAM is already up to 1933Mhz!
Also, my current setup has dual dual channel.
AaronNicoli 4 years ago
Wow im down in melbourne haha.
I cant wait for fsb 1800 to arrive. thats so much bandwith... do you have any idea what the overall core speed will be?
as for ram at 1933mhz that is amazing!
So much for my 533fsb with ddr 333 haha
fenderbender91 4 years ago
Well it might actually be 2000FSB, around may with 3.8Ghz.
