These translators make these great sufi poets look perverted sometimes...but the fact is they speak metaphorically. There are great moral lessons behind their poetry.
If there is one thing muslim scholars love outside of islamic knowledge, it is poetry. But translations do them little justice. They sound soo much better in arabic. At the time of Prophet Muhammad, the arabs loved poetry and were experts, so much so, the classical arabic poetry is still considered the best. Yet, even the poets of that time who were masters of language, could not produce a singe verse to challenge the quran, hence many became muslim as the quran is a miracle, the speech of Allah
