Well, i agree with you in some part; One character dont make a movie. People like: "The Joker Was awesome!" - "Well..The best movie of all times!"...I mean comon, a movie that deserve a top-10 spot on IMDB should in my opinion be perfect in every aspect, TDK wasnt. It was many flaws in the manuscript, and the movie overall was far from as balanced as Batman begins. Its clear Nolan tried to something different with TDK than BB in a more "Michael Mann" - way, however it didnt worked this time.
i think thas why they chose ledger cuz they knew he could act, but the laugh was perhaps the most important factor, and from the looks of it ledger got the it as close as hamil's laugh

BB took too long to get to the batman parts, and i wasnt crazy about the villians, scarecrow was disapointing and Ras al ghul only showed up at the end. lame. but, with TDK, we got the friggin joker! and no origin! you cant go wrong here! least i hope not...

Actually, Burton's absurdity aka Batman Returns, or better known as Burton-Man ... was what actually the catalyst abd start of the downfall of the franchise. He had way too much creative control, and by making it visually darker, met w/ poor reception, forced WB to make it more chipper and cater to a wider audience. Thank Burton for not capitalizing on a HUGE success in B89, and taking it into a realm of something very un-Batmanish.

This film is gonna be much better than the last one because C Nolan and crew have already gotten the "How it all Began" story out of the way and now he can just focus on the hero/villian aspect of the series and it's gonna rock,although I think they should have made more of a story for the scarecrow,they could do alot with him,I think they should've made The Dark Knight about Scarecrow and brought the Joker in on the 3rd film

Ummm if by "skin problem" you mean "falling into a vat of chemicals," then yes. Aside from which, Joker's origin is sketchy as is... even he forgets how he got that way (read "The Killing Joke" if you want some Joker origin goodness.)
Nicholson will always be the best Joker for me, but heath sounds likie he will be asome and possibly the darkest version of him on film. of course, being the darkest doesnt mean being the best automatically, i'd have to see him in action. so far, so good. still, i doubt he will be nicholson caliber.
its best not to compare the two, well maybe a little, but this is still nolan's take and not burton's, so just be patient, watch the movie, and come back and tell everyone what you thought about heath's take on the joker and who might be superior.
i love how C. Nolan is depicting him so far. when i first saw the teaser, i thought joker was talking to someone when the line "im a man of my word" came up. but then i found out he was just saying it to himself, and then, he laughs for seemingly no reason, which really hits the nail on the head of how joker is supposed to be, this crazy phsyco who finds himself hilarious, but to others, hes just a wacko.
Did anyone notice how through the intire teaser, the background music is the jokers laugh from the 1989 Batman. after when he falls and goes SPLAT! and he has the laughing bag in his jacket??? You have to listen closely but you do hear it. Especially at the end. It's pretyy awesome!!

The more I see the clip more I think marvel may have some real competition. Granted Marvel has more movies out but look at the quality compared to the DC's i.e. spider man 3, x men 3 and FF2. Now compare them to batman begins and Superman returns, yeah I have high hopes.

According to everything I'm reading on the Batman on Film message boards, the Joker "just is." There's hints and such that could point to how he got the way he is, but they leave it open for the fans to fill in.
As far as his white face, apparently it makes you think. Sometimes you think it's make-up, sometimes you think it's his actual skin-color (from being bleached and all), and things like that. At least, those are the rumored reports. We'll see, though. I can't wait for a full trailer with his face in it...

Jack Nicholson will always be the best incarnation of the Joker, no question, but from the few pics I've seen and this audio, it's clear that Heath Ledger just might be the darkest encarnation of him, and that's honestly not a bad name to have.
Screw Iron Man lol. The Dark Knight is gonna kick butt next summer and it will be the greatest batman movie ever, and IT WILL be the greatest superhero movie ever!

Great teaser!!! But they should 'STOP RIGHT FREAKIN HERE'! No more teasers or trailers. So many times they show too many of these things and they ruin the movie! Returns faggy? Returns was actually darker and more mature than Batman. I think Returns was better, in fact. Actually, I truly feel that if Burton had kept the reigns, the franchise wouldn't have needed redoing. But since Schumacher ruined the franchise, I'm so glad it's being redone.

Actually, Burton's absurdity aka Batman Returns, or better known as Burton-Man ... was what actually the catalyst abd start of the downfall of the franchise. He had way too much creative control, and by making it visually darker, met w/ poor reception, forced WB to make it more chipper and cater to a wider audience. Thank Burton for not capitalizing on a HUGE success in B89, and taking it into a realm of something very un-Batmanish.

I have to admit,when they were considering actors to play The Joker,I thought Hugo Weaving from The Matrix films and V For Vendetta would've been a great choice but I guess C.Nolan must see something in Ledger to make him think that he would best achieve his vision of The Joker.I love Nicholson's Joker but am glad they're making the new Joker more sinister,which is the way he should be.I just hope they never make another Batman movie with The Penguin,he sucks.

This film is gonna be much better than the last one because C Nolan and crew have already gotten the "How it all Began" story out of the way and now he can just focus on the hero/villian aspect of the series and it's gonna rock,although I think they should have made more of a story for the scarecrow,they could do alot with him,I think they should've made The Dark Knight about Scarecrow and brought the Joker in on the 3rd film

Nicholson will always be the best Joker for me, but heath sounds likie he will be asome and possibly the darkest version of him on film. of course, being the darkest doesnt mean being the best automatically, i'd have to see him in action. so far, so good. still, i doubt he will be nicholson caliber.

i love how C. Nolan is depicting him so far. when i first saw the teaser, i thought joker was talking to someone when the line "im a man of my word" came up. but then i found out he was just saying it to himself, and then, he laughs for seemingly no reason, which really hits the nail on the head of how joker is supposed to be, this crazy phsyco who finds himself hilarious, but to others, hes just a wacko.

Did anyone notice how through the intire teaser, the background music is the jokers laugh from the 1989 Batman. after when he falls and goes SPLAT! and he has the laughing bag in his jacket??? You have to listen closely but you do hear it. Especially at the end. It's pretyy awesome!!

The more I see the clip more I think marvel may have some real competition. Granted Marvel has more movies out but look at the quality compared to the DC's i.e. spider man 3, x men 3 and FF2. Now compare them to batman begins and Superman returns, yeah I have high hopes.

Superman Returns was horrible. I expected something so different, and there were a lot of disappointments, not the least of which is that Lois apparently didn't know Clark was Superman? By that point she should have been well aware, especially if that kid was Superman's son. Uh, hello, stupid!

basically what im saying is batmans back story was so well done and it made him so believable. being how the joker is so iconic he deserves the same treatment.

According to everything I'm reading on the Batman on Film message boards, the Joker "just is." There's hints and such that could point to how he got the way he is, but they leave it open for the fans to fill in.

As far as his white face, apparently it makes you think. Sometimes you think it's make-up, sometimes you think it's his actual skin-color (from being bleached and all), and things like that. o and for aurone and co. can u please back off the constant comparisons to him and jack. yes he does sport the same purple suit, white face and green hair.
but give the man a chance to proove himself. one thing that continues to bother me was that jack was funny.. the joker shouldnt be funny except only to himself. what he finds humorous other people should find sick. thats how the "real" joker should be.

personally i did like cesar romeros version... only because the way the show was played out everything was supposed to be funny/humorous.
however i was suprised with tim burton's because when i saw that movie i expected a much darker joker seeing as how batman and gothma were much darker too.
romero and nicholson were much to alike. i honestly do not care what heathe does, as longs as its something different, so i can reach the end of my seat and stay there.

Jack Nicholson will always be the best incarnation of the Joker, no question, but from the few pics I've seen and this audio, it's clear that Heath Ledger just might be the darkest encarnation of him, and that's honestly not a bad name to have.
