What is noble or just in killing someone who is without a weapon and under custody - what an example for society. States who use executions as means of justice (with fair or unfair trials) are no better than murderers....At the moment they discuss abolishment of death penalty in the US because it is cheaper to keep people in prison than have these expensive trials and re-trials etcs - what an argument ..but hopefully it helps
I confess that I do not know about this case. Therefore, I need to do so research before I take a position.
I do agree with the posters who took the position that Colin went a bit far with his opinions about due process etc. I have heard him in interiews that I saw this morning where he gets subtle digs in concerning our politics etc. I like him very much as an actor. Many of his opinions, however, I can do without. I wish him well in The Kings Speech.
I saw the movie last night (20 May) in London where Colin Firth and Lyvia Giuggioli spoke passionately and fervently about the film. It is self distributing and they asked us to try and get our local cinemas to show it. You can get in touch with your local Amnesty group - and perhaps invite them for a Q&A?
Danny Faulkner cannot be interviewed for this film because he was assinated by Mumia Abu Jamal. Nothing was wrong with the initial trial. Not one court up to the Supreme Court has found any reason why this murderer should have another trial, or that anything was wrong with his first trial. He shot Danny Faulkner at point blank range. He was sentenced to death. End of story. Its time for him to burn in hell. He is no hero. He is a murderer. All of you fools should learn the TRUE story.
I support amnesty for people who are wrongly convicted, and I am vehemently opposed to the death penalty under any circumstances. Philly in the 80's under Rizzo and later Goode was a wide open free fire zone and as far as a confrontation between a cop and an armed man, black or white, it would have been kill or be killed.
i support amnesty. i would rather see someone rot in jail then see them being shot in the head, hung, knifed etc, yes they did something wrong and some didnt do anything at all, but we are all humans as the saying goes we all deserve a second chance. and colin firth is one of the brilliant actor who supports amnesty so much they he and his wife produced a film on the death penalty. the words "lives were shattered" its absolutly right think of the family and friends who lost there loved ones.
@SezzaSaurus I disagree. I think if someone is proven to be guilty of murder with premeditation, they USUALLY deserve death in my eyes. I make exceptions for women who murder their abusive partners and similar situations.
In response to our beloved allies the French naming a rue apres Mumia in St. Denis, I believe the city of Brotherly Love is responding in kind and considering naming a street in the Badlands/Kensington neighborhood after that adorable French skunk, Pepe Le Pew. Vive liberte, egalite, fratrnite and of course Le PEW! Maybe they'll invite Colin Firth to the ceremony!
No matter how much people don't want to believe it the evidence is very clear and the odds are excellent that Abu Jamal did kill that cop. His own brother refuses to exonerate him. Good works for me includes literacy tutoring and volunteering at soup kitchens so why don't you put up or shut up?
I love the blonde woman in the first part of the video who cannot stop staring at Colin Firth. The way most of us would be if we were next to him. And his wife is simply beautiful as ever. For all angry and bitter those YT posters who are criticizing this work, I would suggest they get off their rear ends and do some of the good work they are ranting about. Just because this work doesn't address your specific cause is no need to demean its intent.
Abu Jamal's death sentence is commuted. Colin Firth is cute as hell - but spouting phrases like "due process" and "shattered lives" in his BBC accent is obnoxious. He's not a lawyer or an Anerican. It's presumptuous, condescending and offensive. The court of appeals is not stupid or incompetent. Overpaid, disingenuous Europeans flouting their ignorance bug me.
AI should use its resources on issues like child sexual slavery and female genital mutilation.
makes you think doesn't it? At least somebody in the world has the guts to bring this political justice system to light...either way you look at it...it's gutsy.

WHy are the British taking up the cause of an American? What the hell do they know about this society? Or Phildalphia? This is the kind of crap that really makes me want to puke. Stick to Jane Austen, Firth, you're out of your depth here.
his wife looks like demi moore

I couldn't agree with you more...these folks are offensive and don't quite know the facts.
I think their time could be better focused on worthier issues, where innocent people are afflicted, rather than taking up the cause of murderers.
