Could someone help me, I have Pripyat on my laptop and it only just reaches the system requirements, will clear sky's run or do I need to upgrade some things on my pc :)
@deadhawk1212 Not really. Shadow of Chernobyl still had the PDA, and it came out a year before Fallout 3. Really, the only similarity between the two is the fact that they are both have post-apocalyptic settings.
If Mark the CGR guy was 15, and had no clue what he was talking about, I would tear his as a new one, but he is like 40 something, and has been around since the 8-bit era. He has reached a bro status so high, that even when he compared this to Fallout 3, I just thought "Aww, that's cute." A classic game which must be enjoyed acompanied with the classic movie Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky. The movie is a must for anyone who is a fan of the games.
lighting effects look amazing but the graphics look for shit i know it was released in late 2009 in selected European countries and 2010 in other areas, but i haven't played it so i cant be sure. im sorta shallow when it comes to graphics so probably will never play it.

I know its a multi layer sky but the main skybox(the very back) looks so blurred and low resolution I felt I was playing Call of Duty 1... but when new moon comes with a lightning storm... the game is an instant immersive experience...

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series are excellent examples of PC gaming at its best. The engine looks great, the gameplay is absolutely amazing and there are plenty of mods, graphical options and tweaks as to accommodate many different PC setups. Makes RAGE look like a kids game.
The first time you play this game it will blow your mind. It was honestly the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had. The second time, it's not very good, so pretty much no replay value. Another thing, you have to learn to play this game, and doing that can take a while, especially if you haven't played the first two.
You S.T.A.L.K.E.R purists need to shut the fuck up about crying regarding comparing it to Fallout 3. He's reviewing this game to the people who DONT KNOW about it so it can enhance their decision on playing it or not.
Comparing it to F3 is simply saying "If you enjoyed F3, give this a shot."
Who cares who was more original? They're both good games.
The Zone doesn't look so desolate. It's downright gorgeous! I thought the same about Shadow of Chernobyl (modded or unmodded) and Clear Sky. And also the older builds from as far back as 2003. The ambient and dynamic music is top-notch. The lighting effects, the weather effects, the A-life, and just the overall look of the environs (whether authentically re-created or modified with artistic license) create an immersion factor like no other game.
@Cloqwerks The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl came out before Metro 2033. Some of the same programmers worked on both of them. It's kind of like F.E.A.R. in some ways (aside the title being an acronym), except it's aim-down-the-sights gameplay instead of just having a cheap zoom (F.E.A.R. 2 has A-D-S). For anyone interested in this game, I'd recommend starting out with Shadow of Chernobyl. It isn't 100% necessary but the proper chonology will help the immersion factor of the story.

I finished the entire Call of Pripyat and WOW! The map is way bigger than any GTA game except San Andreas. Unique missions, huge set of weapons ranging from the AK-47, 74, 94, Dragunov, DE, RP-K and a whole lot more. There's even a RPG-7 which is by far the most realistic one I have ever seen in ANY game.

How come everyone compares this game to Fallout but I've never seen anyone compare it to Metro 2033, which is even more similar to it. Most of the guns and sound almost the same in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro.

@Skuzzzle Yeah metro is more of story driven because its based on a book. But i've played metro through twice and I love the story and the gameplay its one of my favorite games ever actually.
Stalker is nothing like Fallout 3. The only similarities are the radioactive environments and the presence of mutants. The fallout universe is extremely influenced by 50's style cultural references (evident in the style of all the pre-war clothing, cars, advertisements, even weapons and pretty much everything else) and the events of the fallout games take place in a post apocalyptic world. Stalker takes place in the chernobyl exclusion zone, with modern day to near future (ie 2012) style weapon
One more thing ... This game is created with a view to eastern europe, few Americans and Western players appreciates and understands this climat and the atmosphere.

Good game, very interesting people from the former USSR because much plunges into the atmosphere of the game, objects, buildings, everything looks very familiar because encountered in the real world. But the developers did not have to finalize the programmatic part of the game probably did not have enough experience and money, had to release many patches. All successful immersion in the world stalker! :-))

But STALKER CoP is still quite original, but a little bit here and there were added and changed. Example, the Pip-boy kind of GPS.

Honestly I am just not a fan of open world games anymore...sure GTA3 kicked ass but now I am getting tired of them....Crysis 1 was cool though (at least the first half)
Now I like linear games more (Mass Effect, Uncharted, Resistance 3, Metro 2033 etc)

How come everyone compares this game to Fallout but I've never seen anyone compare it to Metro 2033, which is even more similar to it. Most of the guns and sound almost the same in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro.

Stalker is nothing like Fallout 3. The only similarities are the radioactive environments and the presence of mutants. The fallout universe is extremely influenced by 50's style cultural references (evident in the style of all the pre-war clothing, cars, advertisements, even weapons and pretty much everything else) and the events of the fallout games take place in a post apocalyptic world. Stalker takes place in the chernobyl exclusion zone, with modern day to near future (ie 2012) style weapon

Good game, very interesting people from the former USSR because much plunges into the atmosphere of the game, objects, buildings, everything looks very familiar because encountered in the real world. But the developers did not have to finalize the programmatic part of the game probably did not have enough experience and money, had to release many patches. All successful immersion in the world stalker! :-))
