This was such a sad scene. Isobel might say all these things about her betraying her own flesh and blood, but she was compelled, and when she was finally done, she killed herself. To PROTECT Elena. So that no one could ever use her again to get to her daughter. This is the one and only time we realize as the audience how much Isobel loved her child.
