Who said it was supposed to be a new tram!! They covered an old on in vinyls to resemble the new livery. They gave it a fictional fleet number so the old dears going to bury Market don't associate a particular tram with the corrie crash!!

1)The train number is wrong, all new Metrolink trams have a number starting with 3.

2)The shape of the tram is all wrong, it is too boxy, the new trams are curved at the front.

3)The cab is from the old Metrolink T-68 series trams.

I think it would have been more convincing if (1) the tram had actually burst through the brickwork of the viaduct instead of slithering through the pre-carved rollercoaster-esque gap and (2) the windows of the tram shattered out when it impacted the street, as I'm sure they would with that amount of force.

I dunno, this is great for a soap opera budget, but the non-'godzilla' shots do look a bit model-ish without the touches mentioned above.

The animation is actually good, but by good, I mean good as in Transformers good, why would the first half of the tram come off of the viaduct, while the second half rockets up into the air?

@SnappyPenguins Because they are connected and have a bend (obviously to get around bends of a track) so as the first carriage is flat on the floor, the second carriage is still coming off the viaduct. The 1st one is going to create a push force for the 2nd one to go up and and swing downwards. If there was no shop there then it'd have all gone off in one straight line.

@mmartin01x exactly! it's obvious the tram is in two bendy bits as I travel through Manchester city centre. When the tram comes off, you see the bend as it suddenly comes down, then obviously as the front bit of the tram is flat on the floor, the second bit of it is partly on the bridge sending it upwards.. then gravity takes action and it comes down

I thought the actual tram crash looked terrible it didnt look realistic in any way and watching it on here i feel the same. The aftermath was good though to be fair but i cant see where the supposed 1mil went on this stunt. Brookside did a simalar stunt with a helicopter over 8 years ago on a smaller budget which looked brilliant.
