You know, with all the negative talk I heard about this movie being inaccurate and untrue at certain points. No one ever had anything to say about Donald Sutherland's Mr.X character. Is any or all the things he discussed true or false? If it is true, HOLY S#*@! That's something to think about.
@viciousclan Its all true. It's widely believed, and I think Olliver Stone may even have confirmed it, but Mr X's real name was Fletcher Prouty. Google him, its the real thing.
Found this NY Times article from Oct. 3rd 1963. The CIA's growth was "LIKENED TO A MALIGNANCY" which the very high ranking offical was not sure even the White House could control "ANY LONGER." "If the United States ever experiences an attempt at a coup to overthrow the Government, it will come from the CIA and not the Pentagon". The Agency "represents a tremendous power and total unaccountability to anyone". Unreal...
@mrwizard319 Yes, it's referred to in James Douglass' recent book "JFK and the Unspeakable" -- as well as the CIA and Joint Chiefs' demand that we nuke Russia by 1965!
Simple question. Has there ever been a scene by scene diagnosis of what parts of this film JFK are actually proven wrong? I know for storytelling reasons some parts are fictional, but things that REALLY matter evidence wise regarding the murder of JFK on november 22nd 1963 - has this comparison been made in detail for the past 20 years?? Because its ridiculous just "accepting" all the controversy about events that are not a idealistic but measurable events. WHY IS THIS CONTROVERSY ACEPPTABLE!!
currently reading L Fletcher 'X' Prouty's book on the assassination of Kennedy, and how it's linked between CIA and Vietnam. Shocking book, but well worth a read. I reccomend it to everyone.
It's an interesting theory about Allen Dulles. However, the Dulles name is synonymous with the State Department and CIA. Trust me, Kennedy might have removed Dulles as DCI, but Dulles would never be out of the establishment's loop. Furthermore, if Kennedy really wanted to break the Company he would have gone after Angleton which he didn't. There is no way in hell you could've had a conspiracy of this magnitude and kept Angleton out of that loop.
It's funny how people always criticize Stone for playing loose with historical fact in JFK when the Warren Commission did the same exact thing, only they were in charge of investigating the actual murder! Stone was just making a movie!
Rubbish. All the Drs at Parkland Hospital and Agent Hill (the Secret Service agent who jumped onto the limo) said there was a large gaping wound in the rear of his head indicating a shot from the front. Such a shame people like you exist... evil floursihes when good men do nothing - history is riddled with it
@whattyhoo 5 words for you moron. "BACK AND TO THE LEFT". Keep in mind the American people don't see the Zapruder film until 1974! They didn't know to rebel. So no don't get over it, ask questions, demand answers!!
P.S. I urge everyone to watch the Secret Service agent sitting in the passenger seat of the limo, he turns, sees Kennedy's throat wound, turns back around and puts his hand up to his earpiece radio. Only after all that and the head shot does he turn back around.
@mrwizard319 Three words for you asshole, LEON HARVEY OSWALD! Fuck me they figured that out the day of the shooting. 44 years later, this is still a debate. Why would the CIA or any other clandestine agency, assassinate the president? Do you really think that the Executive shapes foreign, or indeed domestic policy? There are more subtle ways of bending the will of a leader. I draw your attention to Obama's presidency. Every act he's passed has been a shell of its original intent.
@whattyhoo Listen to yourself "Fuck me they figured that out the day of the shooting." Exactly, that's called shaping public perception, creating the myth before any other story gets out there. Just like there were people on the major news networks an hour after the second plane hit the twin towers talking about "this is the work of bin Laden" as if they knew who the source of this ongoing tragedy was then or now.
@whattyhoo And "Why would the CIA or any other clandestine agency, assassinate the president?" That is the most naive sentence I've ever heard. How about unless you kill the president your clandestine agency won't exist anymore? And you know it's such a stretch to accuse the squeaky clean CIA, with their private army of assassins and covert wars, funded by importing drugs and selling it to their own citizens. Yeah dude they're the fucking boy scouts. Meanwhile, this is bigger than just the CIA.
@whattyhoo ..With ALL of the film, you, well maybe not you,..but one with a limited amount of brains, can see by the body movement ,which way the "different shots "came from. You mind YOUR country's business OK ? WE here can NOT let it go because we were lied to,and our leader killed, and OUR Country stolen from us by Big Business. We don't want to let it go.
Perhaps you should be more attentive to your grammar before you criticize someone else’s intellect. As for JFK I am not going to bother engaging another nutter (yes you) on a wild conspiracy theory. If I was you, I would keep those curtains drawn, doors locked, and that rifle under your bed, because we are out there and we are coming to get YOU!!!!
I honestly believe that this scene is the REAL reason Stone made this film, think about the amount of info shared in the Mr X scene compared to the entire movie! Now if any of want to see and hear ACTUAL recordings of JFK to his military heads checkout this documentary named "Virtual JFK" and you'll see for yourself how the military were blood thirsty for war, and how they just had no respect for JFK.
how can i download this movie the directors cut ??? ive never downloaded a movie or video so you will have to give full directions on what to do. i would just like to watch it. thanks and godbless.
i was working in dallas when this movie was made. and even though it was like two quick scenes in the movie. when garrison was there investigating it and a scene with kennedy.s limo they had the roads closed down for over a month in down town dallas. i was working for the rail road and having to hide behind the box car during shooting time. i got interested then in the kennedy assassanation and have been ever since then. godbless.
(I.e. over a million civilians in Iraq have been slaughtered already likewise to Vietnam and the elite are profiting immensely while the vast majority of Americans suffer injustices such as a mitigated quality of life as a result of this tyranny) as they certainly commenced due to resources available for this elitists while debt is rapidly enhancing and perhaps is already unsustainable. Lastly, absolute power evidently corrupts absolutely.
(CONT’D #2) Consequently, the unjust and unnecessary war was absolutely essential for the power elite in order to generate hundreds of billions of dollars in capital (for the select few situated in this strata). Moreover, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are quite similar presently.....
(CONT'D) Furthermore, JFK's policy of American withdrawal from Vietnam by 1965 upon being re-elected (which was presumably a certain outcome) and implementing a program of "vietnamization" (training and financing the South Vietnamese to carry out their own war) was the reason he met his demise because the elite (bankers, military industrial complex and incredibly powerful companies that wanted to obtain contracts to produce rather remarkably expensive weapons for the war (I.E. helicopters).
Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty is the character Mr. X is portraying (certainly with no inaccuracy) and any critical thinkers should certainly purchase his 2 books (1. JFK: The CIA,Vietnam and the Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy; 2. The Secret Team: The CIA & Its Allies in Control of the United States and the World) in order to decipher how the elite consolidated power (i.e. the David Rockefeller's of the world) and have obviously retained that power since the assassination…
everything he says at 5:06 to 5:30... is what should have happened... not all the crap that happened to JFK, not all the crap that was played that day...
Yeah Donald Sutherland's part is awesome in this film, his lines have got to be some of the greatest lines spoken in a film, especially a political thriller. Love how he starts describing the things hes been Involved in throughout the decades, as he walks down the steps from the Lincoln memorial with Costner. Let alone all the deep stuff he gets into, throughout the rest of the scene, very powerful film.
This scene was one of the greatest scenes in the best film of 1991.
Donald Sutherland's lack of accolades is an insult to the man's awesome talent. He stole the movie for twenty minutes hands down. If Judi Dench could win an Oscar for eight minutes of screentime, then this guy should have been nominated.
actually it didnt, stone admitted that the X chracter was a combination of different people in the miltary who stone interviewed at the time, he mentioned this on the audio commentary track of the jfk dvd
The true identity of X was Leroy Fletcher Prouty (January 24th 1917-June 5th 2001). Leroy Fletcher Prouty was a Colonel in the United States Airforce, an Author, A Banker and a Critic of United States Foreign Policy especially in reguards to CIA activities. Leroy Fletcher Prouty did not meat with Jim Garrison at the time of this event but decades later. The Real X (Leroy Fletcher Prouty) believe that it was the Federal Reserve Bank that murdered Kenney and not the the people in the JFK Movie.
David H Byrd was co owner of a texas based aerospace company. He also owned the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas. After his buddy LBJ became president his company was awarded large military contracts. Also check out The 488th Military Intelligence Unit-Jack Crichton-George Lumpkin-Lt Col George Whitmeyer
I haven't the faintest idea if any of it is true, but what a scene! This Mr. X is so compelling he even appears in my dreams sometimes! :-) And can you imagine how much work it must have been for Donald Sutherland to learn such a HUGE monologue?? I mean WOW!!!
Sutherland is a great actor and speaker. We'll never know the truth about what X (Col. L. Fletcher Prouty) said but he was certainly a credible and powerful source to Garrison's fight for justice.
check it, according to oli stone's commentary (2 disc dvd) don sutherland memorised a 12 page scene just hours before his call & almost nailed it in one take. now thats talent!!!! also all the info put across in this scene was not all from Xman, a lot but not all, oli used him as a composite character somewhat
it's all true.Research Col Fletcher Prouty and his book "The Secret Team" when it was published the CIA tried to buy every copy but they printed more. For some reason the CIA didnt want people to read his book.
@hai2uthere Not really. Sutherland is an amazing actor, agreed but there are many better performances he has put out over the years besides JFK. Although you feel a personal connection to the JFK assassination, it shouldn't cloud your judgement just because he kicked some ass on screen while portraying Leroy Fletcher Prouty.
@bapyou hollywood may give an oscar to moore for his doc when he embarrassed the gun lobby, but hollywood knows better than to screw with the very serious people who killed JFK, RFK, MLK and Malcolm X
Very good comment. Unfortunately I think you are very right and if one sums it up these men have been behind every set back for real change throughout our modern history and that is truly frightening and takes away one´s faith in a happy ending for the world. If Kennedy had succeeded in shutting down the CIA and made sure his legacy stuck then so many wars and black ops determining our modern history probaby wouldn´t have happened. And 911 probablywouldn´t have happend.
@chrophe there is a great line from the movie "The Good Sheppard";
"I remember a senator once asked me. When we talk about 'CIA' why we never use the word 'the' in front of it. And I asked him, do you put the word 'the' in front of 'God'?"
Just curious, how do you know that i know nothing about texas? let me guess...You're one of the idiots that live there? same mentality as your idiot, can't talk, president.
Seriously, that's what they teach you? To think that you are smarter than anyone else...and so the result is: becoming the most idiotic people alive. You actually thought i'll tell you: no i am not from canada i am from ********** lolol idiot....you definitly a Texan. LOL
Another way that this could be proved as a conspiracy was that lots of guys involved in covert operations were in Dallas that day. Including Lansdale. A former collegue of Lansdale, L. Fletcher Prouty claims to have recognized Lansdale in a photograph taken by Dallas Morning News in Dealy Plaza that day immediately after the assassination.
E. Howard Hunt confessed on his deathbed that Cord Meyer, a CIA operative, and Lyndon Johnson organized it all. Cord Meyer, Frank Sturgis, David Sanchez Morales, David Atlee Phillips were all named by Hunt as participants in the assassination with LBJ at the top, approving of it for political gain. All the businesses, everything else, like the guy says, it's just part of the scenery. General Y is probably also Edward Lansdale. So it probably included more than just these guys Hunt named.
well i guess the Conspirators of Pres.Kennedy were the 'Committee of 300'(the Olympians), Also search: Club of Rome, Carlyle Group, Bilderbergs, QE 2, World Bankers, etc. See book Conspiracy Hierarchy- the Committee of 300 by Dr. J Coleman (he can also be sourced on Youtube. The Truth will set you free- no more of the questions in your own head -there's PROOF.
the actual meeting didnt happen but the dialog is true & based on letters writtn to Garrison from Col. FLetcher Prouty who was deeply involved in CIA operations.
You know, with all the negative talk I heard about this movie being inaccurate and untrue at certain points. No one ever had anything to say about Donald Sutherland's Mr.X character. Is any or all the things he discussed true or false? If it is true, HOLY S#*@! That's something to think about.

@chrophe there is a great line from the movie "The Good Sheppard";
"I remember a senator once asked me. When we talk about 'CIA' why we never use the word 'the' in front of it. And I asked him, do you put the word 'the' in front of 'God'?"

Another way that this could be proved as a conspiracy was that lots of guys involved in covert operations were in Dallas that day. Including Lansdale. A former collegue of Lansdale, L. Fletcher Prouty claims to have recognized Lansdale in a photograph taken by Dallas Morning News in Dealy Plaza that day immediately after the assassination.

yeah the Mr X character is based on Fletcher Prouty.
