after using this seat for 1 year and 20 pounds it is time to purchase a britax . a britax marathon which rear faces to 35 pounds. then after that it is time to forward face to 65 pounds. after that a regent frontier etc.. to harness to 80 pounds then the worst time comes to booster seat tillo 100 pounds then its time to use adult seatbelt
I am a Child Passenger Safety Tech. I can assure you that all carseats AND their bases are crash tested. They must meet certain criteria to get on US store shelves. Comsumer Reports did a botched report on carseats and this is where the rumor you heard came from. CS came out and apologized and withdrew an tests they had done. CS did their own crash test and they were NOT correct.

is not to safe. i heard of cases of the car seat cuming off the base in car accidents.
