  • Is this guy stoned???

  • NO YOUTUBE

MUSICA DE UM MILHÃO DE REAIS

  • Jason Mraz's cover is the best.

  • Cornell cannot be touched vocally

  • goog cover ......MJ mut be proud !!!

  • this sucks absolute donkey dick. cornell is the biggest faggot to come from seattle....

  • @777Lateralus No you're mistaken, Cornell is an incredible musician and his voice can not be topped by anyone. I don't know why you feel you need to bring down people so much.

  • @777Lateralus Bro, I see you on every chris cornell I look up. I mean shit dude, do you have anything better to do? Obviously you don't like him and thats fine. You know why that's fine? It is fine because it is your opinion. But guess what? If you don't like something so much then just ignore it. I haven't turned on the radio in years and don't bitch about it. So just lay off. Stop trying to stir up shit because it's not that big of a deal. Take your disgust of this man elsewhere.

  • dude thats not a MJ cover... More like Billy Joel with a flu

  • The wheel was invented and man made progress .... why re-invent the wheel when the wheel works perfectly fine ...

  • @aaronbaker38 this is more like inventing new kinds of wheels than reinventing the concept of one.

  • @aaronbaker38 It is my concidered opinion that mankind ..as a species...reached his high point sometime after he discovered FIRE and invented the WHEEL....He has been rolling down hill ever since. The only true progress I can point to in my lifetime (63 yrs) is the fact that one can go to Walmart and buy underwear that is already brown...you don't have to make your own anymore...

  • i hateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this version of BILLIE JEAN OMG!!!!!!!!!!1111

    its sooooo boriiingg

  • chris cornell is the alpha male of rock gods. Who's with me? *drool*

  • chjris cornell is famous because soundgaren!!

  • "love it! give us a chance, if you love music like we do!

please visit our channel, subscribe and comment our videos!

    thanks for your support!

love, nicki & ruben - gold becoming silver

  • beautiful version!

Curiosity: Lisa Marie dedicated in myspace her about one year without Michael Jackson:

"The Song" Sunshower" by Chris Cornell says more than anything I could say..............."

  • That says alot about how big Michael Jackson was. When you can get famous and noticed just for reusing his songs.

  • @Janusha u must be 14 or just not b into rock at ALL...he's been famous...n MJ could do it all...very talented...but vocally Cornell is up there wit a few...oh yea forgot 2 mention...u dumfuk

  • I remain unconvinced.

  • @Janusha just checked my mail...but lol...pardon my previous manner...i must of been in a bad mood that day or somethin...but i don't see how you could be...i listen 2 that version of that song atleast daily...n it's still ever inspiring as if it were the first...it's nothing less than incredible IMO...but 2 each their own...

  • Now that Ive heard it a few times.. Its not exactly crap tho is it. But that was never my intention. To say its crap. I merely suggested one could get famous for just re-doing MJs stuff. Which reflects how big he was. Obviously Cornell is one of the all time great ones.. which helps. It would have been far worse if some American Idol teenager had copied MJs stuff and made his own version thinking he could do better than MJ.

  • @Janusha Lol...u must be talking about the oversung version that David Cook ripped from Cornell. But yes...very tru...n i think the main reason more haven't tried, besides Alien antfarm's minor flare up for the very reason you speak of, is because they don't want to be ridiculed for dishonoring the King for even trying. In which I differ with Cornell for saying he made it his own...that's a lil much(even 4 a HUGE Cornell fan), It sounds unique n is a 1 of my favs, but it'll always be MJ's.

  • @Janusha I could talk bout greats 4 hours with the right people, so that character lim kills me lol. But I've heard plenty of my friends that lack thorough connections that have made some awesome unique covers with rather lackluster equipment. I wish more would look @ it as paying homage, and screw it if along the way they make a some money on some1 elses name. Because music is gettn worse like the damn economy...we need as many soulful sounds captured as possible imo. I'm sorry...i'm done lol.

  • @Janusha Chris Cornell has been famous since the 90's

  • whats up with the most anoying voice over evaaaaaar...

  • this version sucks!!!!!!!

  • @figaro1979 If you dont like it then FUCK OFF

  • ihuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • his voice in this vid reminds me of bob seger. atleast when Bob sings "turn the page"

  • He Gets Famous out of A MJ SONG?!

Go away Chriss...MJ FOREVER..Stop making money and gaining fame for something that is NOT YOURS!!!

Artist nowadays need more creativity juice and come up with thier own stuff...

Michael went through ALOT to get Billie Jean right and the thriller album..

He would Cry if it wasnt good....

    STOP RUINING A CLASSIC!!!!

  • @AishaAbdi091093-i think i should go ahead and say what everyone else is thinking-shut up

  • @thegunclub123 You shut up and shoot yourself....People need to stop getting famous for MJ's work then taking credit for it...Yeah you covered Billie Jean Whopee...Now Move on!

  • @AishaAbdi091093-how peaceful.asshole.(irony) he's not getting famous off of it, chris cornell is already a huge star with trmemdous respect for jackson. ill defend michael and all, but lets get some perspective. despite being one of the most talented performers ever, he was a pedophile, not a God.

  • @thegunclub123 Excuse me idiot. I think you need to get some perspective! He was not a pedophile and if you did your research you would of known that. He was proven to be innocent end of, let it go. It's like you're desperate for him to be one. You people make me sick.

  • He was proven innocent? No, he was ruled innocent. He was a billionaire with a great lawyer. Like OJ Simpson. Difference being, Michael Jackson did not brutally rape anyone, or murder anyone

  • @thegunclub123

Are you retarded. You defend Michael by saying he is a pedophile? Do you know how much facts there are here on youtube proving he is is innocent? Jesus. HE IS NOT GUILTY! The law says so. Twice!!!!!!

  • @AishaAbdi091093 hes chris fucking cornell. he didnt get famous because of this cover. it was an act of respect. i hope you fall of a building. a tall building. and while you fall, you think about this video, and realize that your whole life was nothing but waste. die.

  • @AishaAbdi091093

Chris has been famous way long before he ever did this song. He can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants at this point.

  • @Warkupo ur stupid dude lol

  • @AishaAbdi091093 omg your a fucking jackass.

  • @sciacca110 Your mum is

  • @AishaAbdi091093 Omg I cannot believe you would talk about one of the greatest rock vocalists in history like that. You have no clue what your taking about. Cornell was long famous before he covered a Michael Jackson song. Michael would be honored Chris covered his song, thats how good Cornell is. Get Rocked.

  • @AishaAbdi091093 err... COME TOGETHER, SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE, TEMPLE OF THE DOG.

    Moron.

  • omg this is awful this was why mj died it is AWFUL

  • @Maxamations your a retard

  • you suck

  • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

    auchi my ear!!!!!!!!!!!

i think CHRIS is goin to toilet

mj will cry when hi hear this crap

  • how i miss audioslave, fuck RATM, zach de la rocha sucks!

  • You are the most ignorant person in the world

  • Its allowed to play covers without permission, as long as you pay royalties. It is not - however - allowed to use samples without permission. The you are not alone case was a case because Rkelly put himself as the composer, and as such snagged the royalties...

  • long live mj and long live cc!!!

  • yes chris is awsome!!!! hes the man!!

  • whatever people!!! just shut up and listen! both MJ and Chris are awesome! just different interpretations. different mood. different taste. just shut up and listen.

  • Cornell owns it! listen to the whole thing. no one can do a better cover of it

  • Honestly, I don't want to denigrate MJ's writing partnerships, but 50% of the song was MJ's moves, so the song on it's own without any production falls a little flat for.

  • Not sure whether you can state it like that. Sure, his moves added to the song. But does that per definition mean that the song itself wasn't that good?

By the way, Jones and Jackson co-produced it.

But I have to say, personally, the coolness of the song today indeed comes from me thinking about MJ moving on those beats....

  • thats because the notes are the same...its like saying....kumbayah is the same as Train-Drops of jupiter just because its the same chord progression.

  • Maybe but i don' t like the energy that he put it on.

    I don't know.

Sorry if my opinion are different. But i think so.

(i'm italian-excs me for the language)

  • so what if he didn't write the songs? he still were a good artist ..

  • SongS? MJ also wrote his songs. Not all of them, but he was still a singer/songwriter and wrote a lot of his hits my himself. Maybe even most of them (note sure, and I don't care enough to look it up).

  • this is shit...completley killing it heree!

  • yes, sedia wrote it on the way to the studio

  • Sedia Garrett wrote man in the mirror not michael look it up on youtube.

  • @natejackson8907

yep true true, i got this is it and it even says it in the book MJ didnt write Man in the Mirror but he sure did bring it to life :)

  • Didn't MJ get a co-writing credit for it?

  • Offcourse he did. And MJ didn't co-write the lyrics, he wrote the lyrics. Cornells different interpretation means the Quincy Jones and Jackson didn't get the money for producing it.

Jackson also owned the rights to the song, so that was extra income for him. Not sure whether it's on a cumulative base though.

  • Covers are almost never done with the permission of the original artist, and by extension rarely does any extra income come from it. I doubt Chris Cornell's version of this song was any different.

  • There is always permission from the people holding the copyrights. If not, then there will be copyright lawsuits up the ass. Check the 'you are not alone'-case (Belgian writers whom R Kelly stole the song from and sold it to MJ).

  • I know there are some, but they're usually high-profile cases like that, or when the original artist is/are dick(s). Most musicians, if they're the real deal, don't care too much if people cover their music. Many, such as Chris Cornell with the American Idol guy, actually if anything consider it to be an honor.

As such, while they most likely do have a legal claim to copyright and such, most do not opt to do so. That's what I was getting at.

  • They don't do it because few people are actually stupid enough to cover something and publish it without paying for the rights. If that Idols-guy commercially brought that CC-version out, then he paid CC also, like he should. And MJ got a part of it too. Like he should.

In early 2000s there was a song 'Addictive' by Truth Hurts, for which producer DJ Quick indeed tried to steal a sample from a Hindi song, resulting in a $ 500 Million lawsuit.

  • Over-publicized exceptions are still exceptions, not the rule. Cornell didn't get a cent out of Dave Cook singing his song on American Idol. He didn't even know about it until a few weeks later when his forums started kicking up about it.

  • So the Dave Cook-version wasn't even a hit? I mean, if it was, then CC would've heart about it sooner, right? But I guess he still got his money afterwards, and/or DC had to stop his version. But if not, then still, cases like cook's are the exception.

Can you name some more cases of a 'stolen' songs that other people made money of??

  • Oh God, they gushed over it to the point of incredible annoyance, especially since he got credit apparently for the "originality" of the song. It was a big hit within American Idol and played a big role in him winning. But if you don't follow the show very much you wouldn't have heard of it (I follow it sporadically at best and didn't find out until afterwards as well), and I know many if not most rock musicians and rock music fans follow Idol even less than I do. I figure Cornell is the same.

  • Hmm, well about Idols, I don't follow it. Not the Dutch version, let alone the versions from other countries. But I didn't say that covers aren't done. But I can't imagine that producingteams of acts like Nickelback, Audioslave or Johnny Cash never paid the right amounts of money to the rightful owners of the songs.

From what I've read Cook only unfairly got praised for his 'original' interpretation of MJ's song by the Idols jury, who apparently didn't know about Chris Cornells version.

  • I can think of several. Audioslave covering "Seven Nation Army," Breaking Benjamin covering "Bulls on Parade," Nickelback covering Rage Against the Machine's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" which in turn was a popular cover of Bruce Bringsteen's original. (Somewhat akin to Chris Cornell's cover here, in fact.) Queens of the Stone Age covered a famous drum segment done by Black Flag. Johnny Cash did a cover of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage." And more. If anything the attitude is prominent within rock music.

  • CHRSI CORNELL BILLIE JEAN

  • chris needs to get back to audioslave and not that timbaland bullshit

  • Wow. It's strange to hear Chris' talking voice.

  • FIRST of all people arguing which or whoever is greatest in ur ears..shud know about the ARTISTRY of one's work..YOU cannot do comparison to anything becoz they are not the same GENRE but to cook a new kind of GENRE out of an old one with respect is a VERY NEAT thing to do to an ARTIST and from the ARTIST.they both get attention of the audience ears anyways.

  • Who is talkiing about who is the greatest? When Chris was with Soundgarden he made a bunch of awful and hurtful comments about MJ. Then years later he comes back out sayig he wants to make an MJ song "unique" and bring "soul" to it. MJ is the writer of the song. How can you disrespect the artist and then cover their song? And then to pretend as if Billie Jean wasn't ALREADY immensly popular and acclaimed before Chris Cornell ever came across it.

  • see people like you..4 u mj is greater than chis right? for them is chris.. me,as an artist i understand the artistry of one's music esp. when they performed it.IF he covered billie jean it has to have permission of michael and i think mike knew this.He wouldnt let this out if its not good.I know for afact michael wrote it, and i love those two..

  • This song defines what a good cover should be. Original and a fresh take.

  • Get informed before you type! Out of his 13 number one hits, MJ wrote NINE with no cowriters! That's the MAJORITY!

He DID NOT write: Thriller, Man in the Mirror, Rock With You, and PYT

But he DID WRITE: Billie Jean, Beat It, Wanna Be Startin Somethin,The Way You Make Me Feel, Dirty Diana, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, Earth Song, They Don't Care About Us, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and others...

Chris Cornell is most famous for covering a song MICHAEL JACKSON WROTE, lol!

  • you dont even know who chris cornell is. goes to show how much you know.

  • What???Chris Cornell is most famous for covering a Michal Jackson's song????? What planet were you living in for the past 20 years????? Or perhaps you were not born before 1996???

  • Chris is most famous for covering a MJ song? You must have been beatin and kept in a closet as a child if you belive that. (no referance to MJ's childhood ment)

  • @bobbberhead no one got anything on MJ, try as they may, but if they're not michael, they're not good.

  • @mudbogn10002235 I didn't say he did. My comment was in reference to a post that said this song is what made Chris Cornell famous. And further more I don't think Chris is trying to "have anything on MJ." I think he liked the song and wanted to sing it.

  • im sorry to say , but MJ did write man in the mirror and triller

  • NO he did not. Do you even own any of his albums?

How can you say such an ignorant thing? It is on the liner notes and MJ himself said he didn't write them. He wrote 4 songs on Thriller- Billie Jean, Beat it, Wanna Be Startin Somethin, and The Girls is Mine.

He wrote ALL but two songs on Bad- the ones he did not write are Man in the Mirror and Just Good Friends. He wrote everything else.

  • michael jackson did not write man in the mirror.

  • ur rite it was siedah garret

  • first off, this cover was made years ago. Long before MJ died. Second, listen to the song all the way through, its pretty good for adding his own twist to the song. its not some song at a bar that someone decides to cover. its totally different and im sure MJ had no problem with it since it was an original "cover".

  • rip dignity

  • YOUR BAD

  • duuuude-- totlly butchered it

  • What a load of crap.....

  • I remember the guys from Soundgarden mocking Michael Jackson in the late 80's. Things have changed.

  • Chris Cornell. I loved Soundgarden and even Audioslave didn't get on my nerves. But this is not a good cover in my opinion.

  • Anyone who likes to go around and sing Billie Jean can't sound like Michael jackson to be impressive . There's only one Michael Jackson and he's in paradise by now , looking down on us , living on by his music. Stop hating , both coversinger , Cornell and especially MICHAEL JACKSON <3

  • it's so obvious you're tryin to piss me off, but it takes more than that :)

  • Lol the world doesn't revolve around you why the fuck would I be trying to piss you off specifically rather than anybody else? I just want to see what people's replies would be lol. It wasn't directed to you in any way at all.

  • oh good to hear. I thought you were some stalker or somethin :$ hahha

  • he did this cover WAY before MJ died. he did it before david cook jacked it for american idol

  • I like this version but I prefer the original one of course ;/ Michael, you rock ! RIP

  • mate you fuckin suck. you might of changed the tempo etc on the song. but you just sound like your trying way way to hard, true music comes from the heart, what you sang with comes from your head, try looking at randoms on youtube trying to do the cover, they shit the fuck all over you and they aint even famous! people should know thier lines, you crossed yours buddy.

  • anyone can play a song and try to make it the same thing or close to the song. but he changed it obviously by ALOT slowed it down alot. and just made it the way he liked to cover the song. i still prefer mj's version by far, just saying. i prefer chris's vocals on superunknown with soundgarden and songs like show me how to live and like a stone or cochise. he's still kick ass, but i think his new cd is him slowing down and calming his singing down.

  • "make it my own and make it exciting" OH GOD PLEASE, MJ'S VERSION IS MORE EXCITING THAN YOURS.

CHRIS- youve lost your way euphoria morning was "ok" but its all been downhill since then, u need guidance, u need soundgarden.

  • it was chris cornell who made the first arrangement of Billie Jean. David Cook just adapted his version. This only proves that we could make versions of MJ songs which in fact is hard to do. Be grateful that someone does a great version for the late MJ.

  • david cook sang it waaaaay better

  • m8 hes nufin compared 2 mj

    mj is the best ever

  • Research then judge

    yay

  • & Besides he sang Billie Jean very TERRIBLE!!! & I'm not saying bcoz I'm an MJ fan but It really Sucks!!

  • Chris Cornell is really Good! I really liked Audio Slaves but never Insulted any other Musician...& the Truth is Chris Cornell may be BIG ROCK STAR but he is still MUCH MUCH MUCH Less than The KING MICHAEL JACKSON!!! Rest In Peace MJ, We Love U!!

  • Comment removed

  • Alot like Manson covering the ramones, it changes the original so much you wonder what on earth was the point of covering the song in the first place? Other than to prove how artisitic it is to change someone elses work. Stick to the rock cornell and stop all the experimental MJ and timbaland crap.

  • I was pissed when heard he coverd MJ, Then I listened to a live performance of it. This version brought so much more emotion to a old pop song! a real musician knows how to cover a song a make it their own, he did it. CORNELL OWNS!

  • i like chris cornell ten times more than mj

  • whoever is the manager of this man should be shot for letting him humiliate himself like this ..Its cruel to him , and its cruel for the rest of us who have to listen to it ...

  • cornell did it justice without touching little boys

  • absolutely ... HORRIBLE !!! shame on you

  • Im not sure MJ would like Chris Cornell's version. Its more red-blooded than anything Michael could do, for all his talent god bless him.

  • I've been a Cornell fan since 1991 but you just don't mess with MJ's stuff. C'mon now!

  • dont be rude!....MJ would not approve x

  • crap version of billie jean ... , no its not exciting ...if it was I wouldnt be falling asleep

  • your a fag, and have no!!!!! inspiration at all about music!!!!

  • He needs to stay in his zone , " Like a stone " is great , his version of Billie Jean is a disaster ... You know how some people just " BUTCHER " other peoples songs ...well unfortunately hes done that to this one... Dont get me wrong , he has a unique voice , and its great if he sticks to his mundane crackhead sound , because there is an audience for that ,,, whoever manages him should be shot for letting him humiliate himself like that..

  • you're a fool

  • word

  • CHRIS CORNELL IS CUTE BUT HE can't make it more exciting because Michael perfected it.

  • i dont like this cover

  • i cant believe he wrote jesus christ pose that song is tits! but this shit needs to stop fuck off chris

  • real song last 5 minutes, with this guy singing sooooooo slow, it might take 10 minutes or more...

  • wsnt there someone on american idol that covered it before him and was actually better? like dave cook

  • c'mon, don't be a retard. you know dave covered Chris.

  • nope dave Cook did it the same way as Cornell, but Cornell did it this way first. Dave Cook just imitated Cornell

  • he's so gay!!!!!

  • That's pretty cool. Billie Jean is probably my favorite MJ song. This is cool version, from what can be heard of it here.

  • chris cornell is hot but maybe shouldn't open his mouth so often.

  • xDDDDDDDDD patetic.

  • you suck!

MICHEAL JACKSON IS THE BEST AND NOBODY CAN TALK HIM

  • "nobody can talk him"

    ahahah

  • WHY ?

  • crap.

  • I think that he is more confident with his guitar. Still brilliant

  • SEATTLE CONNECTION: Michael Jackson's producer Quincy Jones was from Seattle... (Quincy didn't really like the song very much either)

  • does anyone know from whitch concert is the part at the begining?

  • I totally agree with Chris. re; cover songs. They're only fun if the new artist tries to put their own brand onto a familiar melody like Chris has with BJ. Faithful note for note reproductions bore me.

  • WTF Is up with all those fking ringtones

  • ya bud.. this was done a few years back... dumbass...

  • Look at the date when this was posted you moron

  • you do realize this was made wayyy before his death don't you?

  • omg....do you realize that i was talking about the ringtones advertisements and not about the video you jerks? -_-'

  • He did a great job at this cover, the best out there.

  • wtf is up with all the ringtone advertizements?

  • they are all over the place!
