  • Where did you find this?? I would LOVE to have the entire Midnight Special episode, with Marianne Faithful and The Troggs. I was 10 when I first saw it, and completely fell for David Bowie, this otherworldly, beautiful creature. I almost have it memorized as I watched every time it was on - unfortunately this was before VCRs were readily available. Thank you, thank you for posting!!!!

  • One of my friends got me his entire back catalog for my birthday and i have to say its the best fucking present i have had in my life !!!!!!!

  • I ♥ this man.

  • This is definitely one of my absolute favourite Bowie music videos, besides 'Boys Keep Swinging' and 'Dancing In the Street'!

I wish that there were still musicians as wonderfully talented as he is...

Thank you so much for posting this!

  • It glitched and I could hear two David Bowies singing, differently ;)

    it was nice

  • I showed my little brother this, and when Bowie's bracelet returned, he was like, "he grew it back! :D" lol god we love Bowie -3

  • Comment removed

  • At 4:22, one of the audience people pull off his blue bracelet, then all the way through to 4:58, he only has the yellow one. Then the blue one comes back when he says, "Yeah, time!"

I swear some people just have magical powers.

  • @Chroniclesz7 I meant 4:42

  • @Chroniclesz7 so you do know they did multiple takes of this song and the others in the show

...check out the raw footage.....no Bowie magic unfortunately...but you knew that I'm sure

  • no wonder GaGa idolized him

  • @MrSmackdab Keep that shit off here ? thanks

  • How does he get his blue bracelet back? Lol the kid rips it off of his arm, and then it's there when he finishes. Does someone give it back? Haha I just thought that was funny :P

  • @TheExile713 I think it's a mix of more shots :D

I wondered that too at first :)

  • @TheExile713 more than one take of the song was recorded...the making of this show was kind of cool

  • I do not care what ANYONE thinks David is a god and was ALWAYS HOT!!! :D

  • I actually saw this when it aired. Fucking highlight of my life then !!!

  • @peezed1 really?? this

  • as ziggy he was a GOD.

  • oh fuck this made my day.

  • NOBODY can write lyrics like Bowie can. Oh my non-existent god how I love him.

  • soo good.

  • He's incredible.

  • David Bowie, I love you. You are the most amazing person to ever walk this earth. Thankyou.

  • Cryan9: I love you for putting this up!

  • and i love this song.its on my ipod and i listen to it lie ten times a day.

  • :P

    i love david bowie.♥.♥

    especially this video.

  • Time - He flexes like a whore. Falls wanking to the floor! The Sniper in the brain......Regurgitating drain! Incestuous and vain, and many other last names. Who can come up with ridiculous and original lyrics like that other than the great David Bowie!

  • crzzyyyyz

  • Is this really from 1980? I thought he was long done with Ziggy by this time.

  • @Johnnywhamo No, this is from 1973. The show is called "1980 floor show".

  • @tokimasa121 Doa! I was wondering what the heck was going on. lol thanks!

  • Time it speaks of senseless things :)

  • yea i'm pretty sure he'd get along just fine with DR. frank-N-furt

  • Incredible, as usual...why am I waiting for him to launch into All the Young Dudes" at the end??!!

  • Bowie, the consummate artist. God this is so great!!!

  • Keep clicking 4: YOU

    Keep clicking 5: Jizzin!

  • people in 1973: wtf am I watching?

people in 2011: wtf am I watching?

  • @mrinkel1 LOL

  • @mrinkel1 1973: you're watching the greatest artist of all time.

2011: you're watching money hungry powersluts.

  • Did they censor him singing goddamn? The bit about falls wanking 2 the floor was left intact.

  • @piskey01 Haha i know right?

  • @piskey01 Oh, i´ve read on wikipedia that on this specific performance he changed it to "Falls swanking to the floor" so they didn´t censor that part.

  • Was this filmed as a Halloween show?

  • Bless the poor soul who missed the Like button! I feel for you, i really do <3

  • What I love about Bowie is that I feel like he understood what music and art is all about -listening to his music has something moving deep inside you, something that most other artists on radio today cannot acheive. Bowie is just priceless.

  • So I get where Rocky Horror Picture Show gets these ideas. Love the operas......

  • @aspenedgewalker I always thought he would be fantasticly good as Frankenfurter : )

  • @TheAlienFan lol i was thinknig the same thing just now, it remids me of the ending of rocky horror

  • I honestly... This creature... He is more than human. You cannot fucking touch David Bowie. He's a lyrical genius, he keeps his audience entertained, he's innovative, he's a beautiful freak... One of my best friend cannot stand David Bowie and to him I say "Are you deaf? Blind? Numb? Ignorant? Or is it something more serious?"

  • You know what make this better, not as it was good, it's god-like, if they had the band instead of the music from the Album version

  • Art.

  • fucking bitch stole his bracelt :O :O ;D LOVE YOU DAVID BOWIE XD <3333

  • i <333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 him. :)))

  • Who couldn't fall in love with this man?

  • @rockstar96299 I SURE KNW I WOULD

  • laughing all the way to the bank like I told my father in in 1976

  • DAVID BOWIE IS MY FAVORITE SINGER OF ALL TIME:)

  • he's a great performance artist (despite his dislike of performing). it's the combination of his skill in both music and visual aesthetics.

  • i would like to be there. fuck why i got to gorn on the 90´s? it sucked so much

  • Such an amazing performer.

  • Just when did he put his blue bracelet back on? hehe :) Love Ziggy

  • How influential is this fellow, hmmmm ?

  • Còmo se divierte mr. Bowie....Impagable

  • That girl stole his bracelet at the end!

  • Okay, so Lynn Redgrave and Peter Noone had this love child...

  • demanding BILLY DOLLs..

his tribute to the NYDolls drummer

    BRILLIANT

Teee amooooo Bowieee♥

    Gemma Inc.

  • David Bowie: Could Be Good As A Man and A Woman Into One

Lady Gaga: Tranvestite With Issues Who Can't Have A Personality Or Can't Sing.

  • he looks like a Polish live in nanny down the street from me

  • i almost wish this hadn't happened. it would've spared us the derivative stupidity of countless female "stars" who imitated these styles

  • David Bowie!

  • Bowie and Mick Ronson pulled it all together so well; music, lyrics, art, fashion, stage presence. May we never hear hip-hop again...

  • he makes my mouth water ;)

  • I reckon Freddy Mercury saw this before doing the I Want To Break Free video.

  • by the looks of this, they should make a david bowie play and have bowie dress as ziggy

  • Did that girl get his bracelet???

  • haha he purposely slurred so wanking came out as "swanking" i love you david! and the flames coming from his crotch hehehehe he is HOT

  • this song is simply epic. one point that I find interesting is if you watch the out-takes, he sings this song (and he does this with almost all his songs) with a different vibe each time to emphasize a certain aspect/idea/line/atmosphere etc. It's true genius.

  • @VeraLynn72 I know, I noticed the same thing as I was going through the out-takes. I like this one the best though, even better than the album version. His physical performace, his facial expressions, and the passion in his voice makes this take surpass the others by leaps and bounds, imo.

  • What can you say.... David is never less than outstanding.

  • for me...it was like a savior came to town and changed my life...forever

  • Kurt Veil feel to this one. I wouldn't have known that when I stayed up to watch this at age17.

  • arduane the killer of the kurds

    the turkes

    responsible for the armeniane hlocaust

  • His hair is hot .. and his makeup is pretty .. x) Long live Bowie!

  • people keep talking and talking about his androgynous looks and avant-garde attitude and just forget about his skills as a musician. your sensibility must be more than thinking he's hot because of his hair and clohtes. just pay attention to this song's lyrics and melodies... he's good because he's a true ARTIST, not only a fashion icon or model of behavior.

  • @andrepancreas Amern & Ditto x 100, 'bruddah/cisstah' ! Yay! Thanks for pointing this out! My sentiments precisely n'zen'sum these 30+ years! <3 DB!! //^_~\\

  • @andrepancreas the legacy and importance of his influence on our world today is evident and surrounds us.the image and the characters were art and transcient but heightened the appeal.

he was meant to be for all our sakes.

  • @andrepancreas actually, it DOES matter. If it didn't, why would he do all those things? I love everything about this performance, including his singing, and etc. and his facial expressions, and everything... so...It doesn't mean that it's a bad thing if people talk about him being androgynous.

  • @lalamouse77 i didn't say his performance or his style doesn't matter. sure he entertains us and catches our attentions in many levels. these things contribute to build his personality as an artist, but this is not as relevant as his talent as a musician. i just get sad when people say "bowie is a genious, he's so androgynous!". no one is a genious for dressing like a woman. someone is a genious when writes "space oddity" at the age of 20.

  • @andrepancreas ABSOLUTELY! Yet, he is still physically hot and his voice is a direct injection into the limbic system.

  • 4:46 i bet the girl(or guy) still has that bracelet

  • @THRILLER761

I hope so, such a good comment

  • This is why I'm an art fag

  • Bowie was just doing what a lot of men have done through the ages who are too sensitive and caring in a world run by bland, heartless men--seeking refuge and solace in feminine mystique.

  • Surrounded by spiders. AWESOME!

  • His bad teeth were very sexy.

  • i wish id been alive when he was touring as Ziggy :( to be in that crowd would be amazing!!

  • i think even he looks uncomfortable with where hes taken this theater to, after ziggy and aladin being so brilliant thank god america is just around the corner

  • when his voice gets low he reminds me of Tim Curry

  • GOD OF ROCK!!

  • I L O V E David Bowie... He is so massively original!! :O:O And his talent is so EXTREME.

  • anyone knows if he's preparing a come back?!

i would so want to see him LIVE!!!

  • haha, bowie on stage with a bunch of nobody's, its like looking 30 years into the future.

luckily he's still got "'it' here

  • Bowie is one of those "forever" musical artists. He,along with Marc Bolan and Bryan Ferry were the 3 who were major influences both in music and as "gentlemen".

  • love the way the Americans had to censor "Goddam" but didn't understand "sWANKING to the floor"

  • @faginzboyz "Swanking to the floor?" I don't understand that either. Of course, I'm an American. LOL

  • w***ing is english for jacking off :)

  • Thanks for posting this clip. I was watching the Midnight Special that night.

  • Wonderful song

  • RONSONNNNNN!!!!!

  • I´m always grinning from ear to ear when I watch this video. Bowie has this glint in his eyes in it.

  • lucky back up dancers!! D:

  • I like the line, "and all I have to give, is the guilt for dreaming" and "I had so many dreams and made so many breakthroughts" I don't know why, it's kind of nonsense but it's good.

  • @capablemachine It's not nonsense - that good feeling you feel is knowing there is a powerful meaning that David had with it and was able to convey the feeling in the music. That's what I love about his music. He conveyed his emotions so well.

  • I've been sick since august and this is whats keeping me sane

  • A lad insane?

  • hope you get better :)

  • Get well chief....

  • Choice.

  • at 4:45 a fat chick tried to pull him down XD

this song and performance BELONG in Rocky Horror Picture Show. <3

  • Human furniture...find the clip at the 'very' beginning where the 1980 dancers spell the 1980 floor show with thier bodies ...also in mid show they show it once more....

  • I've seen that too.

  • MY favorite part is where he uses the dancer as a seat ( at 4:09 ),... it's funny.

Bak-up dancers alternating as furniture ?... VERY clever and novel,... almost Sadian !!

  • omg one of the girls took his blue bracelet! she was lucky. lol

  • Comment removed

  • he is soooo pretty!

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • I think this was probably my most favorite bowie song since I was a kid. I think it was on the Aladdinsane album?

  • SEXYYYYYYY

  • This is probably his most poetic song....love you,David. <3

  • wow new discovery for a 35+year Bowie fan. And I looked at my watch....

  • I love Bowie, his voice is wonderful and so soothing anytime, and anywhere!

  • uggg where can i find the entire floor show?!

  • Watch the real TIME at the Hammersmith, no censor shit...

  • Thanks Mrs T.

  • My Favorite Bowie song - always overlooked- it's ziggy, its grand, its anthemic, vocals go to space and back, ronson's guitar jams, if I could onlt have one bowie song , it would be this one

  • 6 months later he was on a ship for for America for the monumental "Diamond Dogs' , concerts and never returned to the U.K. until the Station to Station concerts.love you Dave...met ya twice, seen ya in full concert over 40 times...Glad you are happy now!

    Dr.J.J.

    Toronto

  • You met him! I would like to know stories, if you wouldn't mind telling them.

  • I think freddie Mercury copied some of these visual ideas for the video to I Want To Break Free

  • Androgynous both male and female into

one . I believe that Bowie was trying to

present a visual image that was almost

Asexual without sex from another planet and for the detractors that saw this image

as too gay obviously are not confortable in

there own sexual indentity to appreciate

the true art in his performance and this

    indeed is true art.

  • @MrSmokeydog you got that right!

  • @MrSmokeydog

    Excellent comment & spot on.

  • @MrSmokeydog

    the sniper in the brain

  • i can "favorite" this video an infinite times more

  • If there was ever a doubt that Bowie is a genius this song should dispel it. Pure excellence and great to see this rare performance of it. Thanks for posting.

  • lol they made him say swanking. it amuses me XD

  • Firecrotch superior.

  • Oh my shit. He looks really HOT here.

  • I know thats what i thougt the first time i saw this :)

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!! I had never seen it before. And I've been a huge fan for 25 years now.

  • Oh! Another fabulous mastrpiece of David...

And yet again, he shows us what a great actor he is!

  • I guess Americans are just a lot more butch than the British. I heard Charles Bronson turned down this part to do Death Wish.

  • This is queer for any nation man. But yes YES and yes until death we should say yes to bowie and all the bowies prowling the streets out there

  • lol. well we do have Bob Dylan, and David Bowie wouldnt be possible w/o Bob Dylan

  • don't see why this is thumbed down, but i'd sort of agree. Bowie was realllly taken in with Dylan in the early days, and the media manipulation Dylan did in the 60's definitely influenced Bowie. even as late as 98 when Time Out of Mind came out Bowie was still singing his praises.

  • people just dont want Bowie to sound like less of the god that he is, Ind I agree that he is a god, he just needed someone like Dylan to give him the mindset, and Bob dylan is good at that.

  • its thumbed down because i was sounding like I agreed with the original poster, but I don't really. Its just that all of the could-be Bowies around the states turn out to be emos and Chris Crocker. Dylan was good, but he didnt seem that manly.

  • who cares if he looks gay, he's still hot as hell. and its not like being gay is a bad thing...

  • whoa he looks so diffrent from the movie labyrinth!

  • and mick ronson in tornado

  • Oh Gods!

    I think I'm watching a Greek tragedy!

  • First 40 seconds...I think I just had a Bowiegasm :-S

    Awesome performance!
