i don't understand what special tools you're going to need other than like sockets ratchet and wrenches...plus you don't have to remove the valve cover...and all you have to do is turn your wheel all the way to the left and unbolt your splash guard and your upper and lower timing covers and you can get to it...it's much easier removing the crank pulley thought. my car had 186k on it with the original timing belt still on, no cracks and not loose. but i replaced with a Gates timing belt.
follow the spark plug tubes when installing the cover... that way it closes properly and if the gaskets are the original ones it avoid the "oil in spark plug hole" mistery
sounds like you need a valve adjustment. your engine is clacking more than it should. i have mine done every 30k just to make sure there is no posibility of damaging the engine.
the day you do a timing belt in 15 mins is the day ill suck your dick... fucking liar, engine out of the car doesnt count... im an ase certified tech, and most take at least an hour with air tools. and those are the easy ones...
i knocked out my homeboys timing belt on his LS in 15 min... but the only thing in the way was the alternator belt. i know at the honda dealership i watch them knock out timing belt kits on d series in about 90 min
good job for your first timing belt. but 9hrs of my life to do a timing belt i would have paid someone to do it. I worked for honda for 10 years and i know how easy it is to do a timing belt...I just dont know about 9hrs I guess thats ok of you have nothing to do...ok ok good job...but 9hrs
I think it will take a little shorter next time. I work on computer all week so it a break to do thinks with my car. I let people work on my computer so I know what you mean..... -- Charles
You should modifie that DEL SOL of yours. Cold air intake, head exhaust, intake system, sprak plug 8.5mm and perhaps cat back. You'll feel young again; perhaps high schooler... LOL.
I did not remove my distributor but the crank and the pulley on the cam has marks that line up with the marks on the engine you can goto autozone"dot"com and put in your car model and year and it will have a diagram you can loot at to see how to alighn the marks
To have TDC of the crank, then you can stick your finger in the spark plug hole (hard in a honda, so use a tube) and when the vacuum stops, then the pressure stops thats tdc. TDC of the cam should be BOTH valves closed on piston 1 Distributer should have the rotor passing the #1 spark plug.
I didn't put it at top dead center. I just made my own marks and put the belt on the same position I took it off. The TDC marks are just the markings that are provided on the car.
nice job doing the belt and everything. did u play with the timing or anything? actually, the single cam shouldnt be too difficult, but hey anyone who does there own car stuff is A-OK.
This was the First Timing Belt I did by my self I help a Friend do a Accord with the Balance Shafts this was alot easier....I haven't check the timing but since I did not move anything I hope its Ok Thanks for The Comment and Stopping By Charles

the best part is that you now added $150 of tools to your collection and the experience doing it yourself is priceless.
