  • couldn't have been better for the mat.

the press can however be improved

    but

    YOU GUYS ARE GENIUS!!!

  • Can I ask something??

Can I improve the ottimat press???

  • First off, its way more effiicent than a polymat. Polymats are one time uses and disposable. Ours can be reused at least 100 times. With an OttiPress (like the vid, we tested 200 times)

    One Ottimat replaces 100 polymats!

Second, skimmers clean the ocean spill, this would be used in shoreline and beach environments.

Look for a FB page....Clean the Gulf Oil Spill with Hair Mats...to get more info and how to help motivate our politicians!!!!

  • @adm3131 after seeing your comment I looked up oil skimmers and apparently elastec oil skimmers can operate in 3 inches of water and can recover 100 gallons of oil every day. Never knew about them before, seems pretty cool.

  • Looks like it's efficient to me. He says right in the video, there will be water and oil dripping off during the first round, which looks very impressive. After more uses less residual oil. I say flood US representatives to get this going and in use NOW and then Bill BP for it for the complete costs.

  • unfortunately, this product seems inefficient. you can also notice when the mat is allowing the water to drip off, you can see excess oil dripping back into the pan. a polymer based absorbent would never allow any oil dripping. Also, where would this process be used. Are you going to use that squeegee drum to recover an acutal oil spill in the ocean? you would be there for 100 years. A thoughtful attempt however, it's inconclusive how far this product will go on a practical scale.
