I hope its like diablo 2 but with more players on one server or game or something or like WoW only a couple servers and over 5000 players on one server then maybe they could add rooms like joining town-10 or something so there would maybe be 15 towns so the place would not get too crowded because i hear they are maybe making a multiplayermod ^^
I cant wait for this, this is one of those games that would be fun to play with your friends. I have alot of friends here on youtube that would love this.

Since the new one was released without dedicated server support, there will be no "official" modding tools for it. Infinity Ward messed up royally when they made that decision. They are flocking toward the mainstream console market, and leaving us PC users in the dust... Sad...
Oh, and I love this mod. Very nice concept. Torchlight is a great game, playing it with a buddy alongside, would be fantastic!

@ghostbbgg well, Its not as easily done but there is PLENTY of console piracy going on! Every PS3, 360 and Wii game is available on Usenet or torrent immediately after release. At least with something like Steam developers actually get their money. PC games have unique CD keys that prevent you from playing online with a copy.. but on consoles you can get online with a burned copy all you want.. Just bought Torchlight for $5 based on reviews.. hope its good! :)
People below, firstly industry normally relates to a large specific market. So its ironic to say "I lost faith in this industry" as your stating that you've lost faith in the gaming world :-\ (Which you might've done).
All I know is Torchlight is keeping me very happy until Diablo III is released. Looks like this MOD has a ways to go none of the other players weapons are showing up. Designers will also have to make tiles that are spaced for two players.
allows mods, has gems and dungeons and things, the pet that sells ur items in town and can learn spells, the map scrolls, this game is better than diablo 3. And by way of mods, if it isn't yet it will be!
of course linear gameplay and storyline will be better but without modding or a similar form of "map scroll" torch light could replace d3 some day. The skills look the same anyway lol. Better engine yes, better game.. pending.
Who knows, maybe Blizzard will surprise us with a moddability aspect to D3. And I'm sure Blizzard will probably be working on downloadable content, like a like of games are doing these days.

Don't doubt us coders who make mods for the fun of it. Some of the most popular online games were mods. Counterstrike? A mod. Team Fortress? A mod. Day of Defeat? Mod. And that is only one game. There are countless other games with equally amazing mods made by gamers who just like to play.

This is not a mod. It's a proof of concept. Very very different. A proof of concept is just a rendering or a video that shows what a potential final product would be like.
The implementing of coding to drive mechanics as well as implemented visuals to show that it can be done is called a vertical slice. A mockup can be, but doesn't necesarrily have to be part of a proof of concept. A proof of concept is exactly what it sounds like. It can be as little as documentation, but usually involves a mockup.
Uh, you know, using Hamachi to trick a game into thinking two computers are on the same Local Area Network even if they're not has absolutely nothing to do with torrenting the game.. Right?
Perhaps you should brush up on your history. Hellgate London only failed because it was released FAR too early. These people know how to make good games, and this game is a PERFECT example of it.
Made by the same people that worked on diablo 1 and 2, it is a dungeon crawler that resembles diablo in quite a few ways. However, given the fact that Runic Games is an INDIE (low funded, small timeframe on projects) company and Blizzard is (Rich, 5+ years development), its very difficult to compare the two. Your comment is like comparing a $50,000 dollar movie and a $200 million dollar movie. For the limited time frame(less than a year), Runic built an incredible game.
If anything, this game serves as a tribute to games like diablo 2, more than trying to become better than it. It is an extremely polarizing game though, as the hack and slash genre really cannot exist without some form of co-op. Thats what most people have a problem with. Unfortunately, I guess because of lack of funding / time, they could not focus on adding a multiplayer portion of the game. They did allow for the game to be completely modable though, so hopefully we might still see co-op.
It appears that this is the case. At this point I think the mod could be considered pre-alpha. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome before co-op is a reality. This is just a test to show you two different player characters existing within the same world.
even still... if it is on the same computer, this is a great way to quickly gear/level up a new character to a desired area, if you want to skip some of the beginning :P

D3 has much more going for it. The most important being a bigger budget and team. And the Diablo storyline has always been one of my favorites.
