  • Okay I have a question for you...

I used to sing a LOT a couple years go (I'm 17 now) and I used to be really good at "singing with my head voice."

I used to take vocal lessons, but havent gone in a long time. I know where my head voice is supposed to be, like, I remember how I'm supposed to sing (if that makes sense) but when I try to sing with my head voice, nothing comes out.

How do I get my head voice back?!?!?!

  • whats high in that? youre a tenor right? you didnt even/barely passed your bridge.. ><

  • @HoulMello i think he meant, maintaining high tessitura, which is not that high really anyways nevertheless i agree in many things he says u?

  • @reynaldomonterrey ofcourse he teaches right and all, but in this vid he just didnt give an example for what he was teaching

  • @HoulMello u r right!!!

  • his voice rattles!

hhaha! better than wat i can do!

best singer in the class getting better singing lessons!!!

  • wow this man is amazing, very good man, wish i could have you as my teacher!! im really good to but its always good no matter how good someone is at singing to have someone to remind them of things like this cuz even for the best singers its easy to forget and to go into an off season kinda, i try to remember tech.s all the time

  • Thanks for actually being online. I am a singer in the Philippines who is now based in the US. Consider me your fan/friend. Will e-mail you to connect soon :) check my page out :)

  • great vid

  • open space! "rubs head" lol

  • is head voice false cords or closed or abducted and zipped cords?

  • hahahah idiots dislike this !!! people free lesson at singing!!! Your are good man keep up the good work!!!! ;)))

  • thank you

  • if you strain your throat doing this stop imediatly!!!

  • TThis man is giving his gift of knowledge of vocal technique to us. Which is wonderful. But remember songs have words and meaning. Once you have your vocal technique down you must approach the material has if it were a monologue, if you're singing musical theatre from the character's point of view. If it's contemporary

music from your own personal experience. Always searching for the truth.

  • such enthusiasm :D

  • ERIC ARCENUAX has the best singing voice lessonss EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...everyone who is trying to sing should check out his videos

  • damn you talk FAST omg >.>''

  • its really hard to keep you're adams appple down; eg. Talking, eating, and singing! its difficult, the only way i can get my adams apple to stay down is when im singing LOW! so i dnt really get what you mean by its a BAD SIGN if you're adams apple go up while singing high :/..... suggestions??

  • @dtayl0611 If your throat is open your adams apple will be down. Your adams apple should not be forced down. It should rise up and down a bit in a relaxed manner.

  • i adore your passion !!! it's amazing how passionate about singing you are ! and i looove your spirit ! good job :) i'm a singer too, and i'm doing ave maria by Schubert om mother's day ! wish me luck :)

  • Your videos are the most helping in Youtube I found ;) !

  • you teach good lessons but you kinda sing bad sorry

  • can you make a video on how to find a mixed voice and how to make it powerful?

    thx.

  • hurts the tone quality. i was taught this way and it took years to unlearn some of the poor habits. you actually get more head tone (nasal pharengial space) by keeping the mouth smaller and contrary to most poorly educated teachers you do not raise the soft pallet and lower the larynx this also creates too much mouth space making the sound resonate in the mouth and losing tonal color also. i do agree that belting is evil and great advice for anyone to follow. much of what you say is correct =)

  • not because your voice is bad but you still have technical issues stemming from a few incorrect concepts and vocal practices. you could easily clean up the tone and bring out the true beauty of your instrument with a few key excersizes. i agree with much of what you say especially regarding working from the previous note, this helps with support bigtime and is spot on advice. lastly, the verticle approach to vowels promotes throat and mouth singing by limiting nasal pharengeal space which also..

  • closed vowels are more beneficial for the beginning singer because they increase positive phonation in the vocal chords. by working from the closed voices "ee" as in beet, "a" as in BAT, and "ay" as in gate etc, will help remove the excess air from the tone cleaning up the sounds so its more clear and ringy. for MOST people the sound needs to get uglier before it can be the perfect tone. to me your voice has a lot of excess air coming through the tone making it thin, weak and a bit nasal-cont...

  • very handsome and nice voice and intelligent glad I found him.

  • yr cool

  • ohhhhhh! keep calm dude! you should be very busy to speak like that! cool! cool!

  • i love your energie.. Where should I feel my headvoice? Pls answer..

  • stevie wonder belts and he has a great range.

  • sorry but stevie doesn't belt at all

  • coffee anyone?

  • your very energetic lol

  • Comment removed

  • haha my singing teacher at school say you must hit the note 'precisely'and i think she is wrong coz i keep getting sore throats and she says shes classicly trained?...weird.

But this guy Aaron is BRILLIENT thank you sooooo much.

  • @blahblah159357 Singing precisely is not wrong. If your throat hurts, then your technique is bad.

  • I am a salsa singer and I got new songs from my band to learn, and I am having such a hard time with them, because they are really high!! I will try your tips and see how it turns out. Thanks for posting this video, very nice.

  • hey guys i need an advice.... i wanna be a rock singer, but im still a beginner and need to smooth my voice(sometimes it sounds kinda raspy....) but dont really know how to do it.... :$

Ive been thinking about to join a church choir or something like that.... should i?

Please tell me what to do to smooth my voice!! xDD

  • Ya know, I think if you wanna be a rock singer and you have a normally raspy voice, go with it, it's waay not a bad thing, some people actually try to rasp it up.

  • go take singing lessons, i used to have the same problem and since ive been taking singing lessons it almost went away completely ^^ xx

  • what do you think of Billy Corgans voice?

  • he knows his stuff!!! he's correct about everything!

  • i think, this guy is doing the right thing!!

  • good advice :)

  • oh my God... he teaching so fast ........directly to the points haha i love it!.

  • i love it how u just go straight to the topic without saying any trash in the front and in the middle tryna act smart like what other retards do and how fast ur talking. its so good. thanx so much for this video keep the good stuff up.

  • HAND MOTIONS FTW!!

  • Fucking douche bags is just kind of a side hobby. I didn't know it has become my predominant label.

  • @Aaron08832 You look and sing just like a friend of mine. And he's fantastic. Belting is indeed a bad word! Thanks so much for the video, and your insight.

  • OMG

    I found Boxxy-Male!!!

  • i want to sing high like d' vocalist of

    steelheart,mr.big,bonjovi.

i cnt sing their songs like how they do it

what can i do?pls help bro!!

  • Thank you sooo much for the video!!!

  • THANK YOU! For these videos, I know how hard it can be to get everything you need to teach out so clearly and intelligently when needed. Bravo!

  • a lot of great things to say like the working from the previous notes etc. however working with wide mouth vowels like "a" as in bat, and the bright "i" as in beet. are the best vowels for training the cords to phonate correctly. tall open vowels are the worst for the early student if you ultimately want the best sound later. Pavarotti the model of technical perfection, and others i could mention use a wide mouth not a tall mouth. wide mouth and low pallet = more head resonance and better tone.

  • It gave me hope that you weren't that good before, because now you are on of the best singers I have heard. Omg. At least of musical and operatic songs. Classicals and stuff. You are amazing. I will definatly use this in the future. Thank you!!!

  • thank you good tips!!!

  • That dude can sing... whatever that was he sang, who knows, who care... great singing right there.

  • Sing manowar.

Then i'll believe the how to sing high.

    Good explanations anyway.they helpfull.

  • Oh, god. We had to watch West Side Story in English class back when I was a freshman. I hated it. I thought it was so stupid. -_- I preferred the actual Romeo and Juliet.

    Anyway, good pointers.

  • what was that approach to belting you mentioned in around 2:07?

  • I really love ur videos~!

I dont have any money for singing lessons so this helps me a lot XD

    Thanks a looot~

Everyone learning to sing and looking to get help on youtube, this is the only guy to listen to and watch.

Nah that was GREAT advice, thanks. Did you train in musical theatre, sounds like it! I agree how relaxing helps you tremendously⁄⁄!!

  • great voice bravoooo COMENT MYS VIDEOS OK?

  • hahahah, you are cool, but you look crazy!

  • I really like your voice =]

  • This felt rushed but it really helps!

You answered a ton of questions I had about moving the larynx and reaching high notes.

Thank you so much, you're a great teacher!

  • your vids are such a great help to me thanks :)

your voice reminds me of john barrowman.

check him out if u dont know him. :)

  • I really liked the video.

I was wondering though, where did you take singing lessons?

  • You are cute looking. ;)

  • Dude i was just lookin around and this video came up its prtty funny hahaha..u actually explain things good and funny.

  • Well done. Much better then a lot of the so called vocal instructions I have come across. Not only are you entertaining to watch, and cute to boot, but you have a good voice. I cant tell you how many times I come across a video and the instructor cant sing to save their life.

  • i like you your not boring. thanks!!this really helped :)

  • Thank you a thousand times man! This video really helped me with singing high. I tried to force it, but now I can do it so much easier. And you are funny to watch, you seem so happy and positive. Thanks again!

  • Laments terms but he is classically trained.Check out RBCROSS videos they are pretty good and he is not hyper like this dude.

  • screw you! Belting rocks! But I really love what you're teaching. But what about mixed ranged. That's what most broadway singers do.

  • guys relax...if u don't find this helpful please don't give more negative comments....it won't help....he's just trying to be informative..... if u don't find him so, then go look on other tutorials....okay??? peace....

  • Is your head voice like a falsetto?

  • It's so sad how here's this guy giving you free voice lessons and a few of you are commenting like ungrateful idiots. The human ego never ceases to amaze me.

  • keep it up man ignore haters! u sing beta than me lol and i still try

  • aww man. I am trying to hide my K9 birth, and you just throw it out there.

  • YOU. ARE. GODSEND.

  • u r good

  • what does belt mean?

  • my adamball or that thing always goes up even when i sing the low notes or with my natural voice and so i don't think that's something to tell that someone's singing in a wrong or write way

    am i right ? i don't know

  • You have a really good diction while singing high! I have a big problem with diction in the top part of my range...

  • despite is potential orientation his advice is very helpful...

  • lmao pause it @

    4:23

    LMAOLMAO

  • looooooooooooooooooooooool ur rite

  • thats true..RELAX...Its better To relax when you sing in high Pitches....So you can breath Correctly

  • It sucks I can go high but there is a whole octave that i just can't do inbetween high and low.

  • I really like this guy lol. Very helpful and really upbeat. =]

  • Yeah. I'm having trouble finding my head voice..

but you are super cool! I like your videos, buddy.

  • That is somewhat repetitive, isn't it? Or is it like a double negative .... so a gay faggot is someone who is straight? If that is true, you are correct ... I am straight.

  • ahahah you're so funny!

  • Thanks this helped alot

  • woah.

you're a tenor out the butt.

    :P!

  • its cus he has a high pitched voice

  • Basically i have one comment: Okey, but HOW?

Use your headvoice? I don't think i have one - or at least i cannot find it.

  • ok...what are you qualifications to be a voice teacher. You said correct things for sure, but everything you sang - kindof contradicted it. I have one question for you. How are you supposed to change pitch? what do you use?

  • what are the contradictions man

  • what a joke lol

  • ok let me clarify...that was mean

  • my teacher teaches me to belt what do I do I dont want to ruin my voice

  • to pungadoo: get a new teacher^^

  • Pungadoo, get another teacher. Belting has its place but should be done rarely. If they want you to belt all the time, this will wreck you.

  • i love you so much!!!!hey I really want you 2 be my vocal coach....aahhhh.....i really love singing and i want to improve more......

  • this comes in handy for me.

im a guy and i sing Tenor 1/ Alto 2 in chorus.

  • ya i'm a rock singer, but i was trained proffesionally. however, i sing high alot, and i get kinda tired after a while and the muscles under my tongue start to hurt... how do i prevent that? i'm not belting either... jsut after a while it starts to hurt.

  • man you're fucking great i just learned how to do my beast head voice thanks to you!

even if i am a baritone, and i can't get your high notes,i really get the difference now.

i wish i could have lived in the USA to take some lessons from you.

  • he's got the mechanics right; that's what you're meant to be paying attention to. If you can't get past the concept of style, you're never gonna completely learn to sing.

  • I think belting is good :/ x

Good Advide about singing high though :) x

  • on another note, i've found out that I'm a tenor rather than the baritone i expected and that i can do Queen songs fairly well...your suggestion to find a good teacher was certainly very good. i'd also like to thank you for your tips on breathing and singing...no more belting for me now lol

  • What about belt singing for singing low.

  • Your awesome! i had a voice coach a few years back and she scared me..literally intimedated me. and i kinda regret that...i wish i would have had you as a teacher! lol. Ive been singing for years...and i still found your video helful...i like how you compare our voices to a trumbones...i never thought of that. fun!

  • a singing teacher i know once said that boys dont hav a head voice...which is absolutely contradictory to what my current (very good) teacher and you r telling me, lol

  • you can slide on a trumpet

  • yeah, kind of, by lipping it. however, for the most part that is not how it is played. I played brass instruments before I ever started singing.

  • i'm a base in my school choir and took singing lesson for few monthes

    but still i can't sing high T_T

i can sing up to #D

    plz help me ~~

  • from 9:00 to 9:02 you looked possesssed, lol, but good tips.

  • Good vid man! I used to use my head voice, but stopped singing for a while and can't seem to do it now. Also, do you have any tips on relaxing your throat? Cheers!
