It has a pretty bland interior that is not very comfortable and it's engine has mediocre performance. The gear shifter felt really flimsy and over all just feels cheap. Very ugly exterior too.

Don't waste your money, get the Wrangler instead.

I agree with beastyboii28, screw what they say about the interior, I just bought mine and I think the interior quality is wonderful stain resistant comfortable seating. Nice metal trim and the upright feeling IS perfect makes me feel like im in the air. Better than that cheap crap they put in those escapes. GO JEEP!!

I couldnt agree with Ihiggs more. I have an 07' lib, Cherokee, cj-7 and owned a wrangler a few years ago. I understand they are trying to appeal to a larger market, but i dont like the direction this company is heading.

I own a 06 and although I like the 08 redesign, I prefer the look of mine; much more sporty. The new one is too refined and city. Who wants a city Jeep? And what's with the rollaway roof? It's just something else to malfunction and leak. And why make the rear cargo room smaller? Makes no sense. And what's with the integrated headlights? They seem much more susceptible to rocks and breakage now. And why are all bumpers and fender flares painted now? The gray is better.

This is a poorly built lump. The materials a clunky cheap plasic, the handling is sloppy and feels unsafe. The engine is under powered, and the gas milage is horrible!

Although if you want to off road this thing is awesome!

they point out too many things to the point where it annoys you. When im driving I dont feel the material on the vents to see how high quality it is, it just adjust my vents, and i really dont care if the dashboard is almost a 90 degree angle. ugh

before you rush out at trade you cherokee 4.0 off on the 2008-2009 Liberty consider this.. The 2008-2009 Liberty is heavier than the previous year and ALOT heavier than the Cherokee it replaces. It is under powered with the 3.7 and 4 speed auto and the gas mileage is inferior to your Cherokee 4.0 However the fit and finish is head and shoulders above the old 4.0 as is the ride quality and the sense of safety and security. I would not trade in my 2008 for anything..Happy Jeeping

This guy has the order wrong. Jeep should never have catered to the "cute ute" market, especially at the expense of their market share who actually want a utility vehicle. At least the 08 has a rugged look, like a rugged vehicle (jeep) should have, even if it isn't very rugged itself. I like the skyslider, but I hate all the plastic body work, it looks stupid.

It is kind of important to Jeep fans because this is the first Jeep to share a platform with another division. The Dodge is based on the Liberty but it came out a few months before to Liberty was restyled. Kind of a Chicken or Egg deal but yeah, its a Jeep thing.

Bad review. The '08 looks a lot more like the original Cherokee that the Liberty took over in the Jeep lineup. Some of the respectful older Cherokee owners will probably like this better than the original liberties, which in my opinion had no right to take over the Cherokee lineup.

Not with that design. I'd love them to bring the Cherokee back, but not 'luxurify' it perse. They don't have to get rid of the Liberty, I think the new 08's are cool, but the original Liberty was a step in the wrong direction when it came to replacing the Cherokee lineup, in my humble opinion. Granted - the Cherokees lasted a LOT longer than intended, a good 7 years or so? They were supposed to stop in the mid 90's, and glad they didn't.

The guy the video needs to get some of his facts straight (like the rear cargo room, it's actually more in the new Liberty not less than the previous generation) and of course the back seat is not going to go down with the front passenger seat pushed all the way back and slightly reclined.
