Ricky Williams was my god.....I never will like an athlete as much as I liked Ricky Williams. His 2002 season is the reason I am a Dolphins fan today. Hope he can win a Super Bowl with Baltimore this season!
By far his best season in the NFL. He led the league in rushing yards and attempts. He has had a lot of fumbles in his career though. I think he might be the oldest running back in football right now, i could be wrong though.
in 1977 Walter Payton ran for 1852 yards on 339 caries averaging 5.5 a game. he was teh offense for the Bears that year. by the way..he only played 14 games. Ricky ran for 1853 with 383 carries, a 4.8 avg. and played in 16 games. so please tell me how this was the greatest year ever.
@xtremejt86 Yeah no kidding. The dolphins have the worst timing when it comes to placing a complete team. Look at all the years marino didnt have a star rb. Put a guy like ricky on his teams, specially the early 80s and early 90's and they would have won several SBs. And of course vice versa having marino on this video.
most talented backs of all time (not most accomplished, stats are somewhat overrated anyways) No Particular order: Ricky Williams Barry Sanders OJ Simpson Earl Campbell Eric Dickerson Bo Jackson Herschel Walker Adrian Peterson Gayle Sayers Jamal Lewis LT Tony Dorsett Marcus Allen Jermaine Dupree Terrence Phillips
I think Ricky really gets overlooked, I mean back in Texas and in the years he was healthy and starting regulary he was playing like a star. I think u can make the argument that his talent can rival those of gale Sayers or Eric Dickerson. so u can probably fit him in the top ten. Jus sayin
@dustinavery06 There are plenty of backs with more talent than Barry just Barry was so amazing. Bo jackson and Herschel Walker are bar none the most talented backs to ever grace the field far from the best tho
so let me get this straight..Jim brown, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Eric Dickerson and Tony Dorset are not as talented? Ricky isn't even top ten...maybe top 20..maybe
@sepp2323 Ricky > Sayers, Dickerson and Dorsett easy. And he's easily a top ten guy. No doubt. Anyone whos watched the man play can attest to that. Otherwise they have alternative motives. No objective observer would say hes not one of the best to play his position.
@dustinavery06 hahahahahahahahahaha are you serious or a dolphin fan/ brry is the best till date ricky has nothing on him. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
He can run inside, he can run outside, he runs by defenders, over them hell ricky runs however he wants to run

Ricky Williams would have broke every RB record if he stayed on track with his career.

He was running angrily that year. Everybody said he was a bust. He just wasn't being used properly in New Orleans.

@jsmoney28 He was also overweight in New Orleans.

i consider this year the greatest year ever for a rb, everyone knew he was getting the ball and he still dominated with a avg oline...
if this team had just a top 15 qb, they would have won the super bowl....

This dolphin team have everything but an QB. Just imagine if they had a top notch QB that year. Their SB chances would have been way greater.
