They are not Arabs. They are Asian Indians who are now known as Pakistanis. Most of them speak Urdu, Punjabi and English, among other languages. There are more of them in India than in Pakistan. His work is wonderfully expressive.

With so little understanding of color, naturally most of these paintings end up being monchromatic as well as poorly composed. All of the splashing doesn't make for a sense of looseness, just notations of impatience. I didn't see anybody except Arabic people at his opening....but then I didn't see any paintings that were "universal" in taste or subject, just repetitive burka women, iconoclastic forms but not reflective of nature's bounty of light and variety. Leave the studio now and then Ali.
