I had the wonderful privilege of studying voice with William Warfield in 1980 at the University of Illinois. I was an accompanying major and played for many of Warfield's students. Also attended many of Uncle Bill's after-concert receptions at his house where he served up great potato salad, finger foods, sweet-potato pie, etc. I also had the privilege of playing Old Man River for him for a local TV production here in Urban, Illinois. He was a wonder man and fabulous talent.
No unfortunately I did not hear that concert. I did hear him in recital one time at the Univ of Illinois. I remember it distinctively as the best concert I ever heard while there. What a musician / performer Uncle Bill was!
@al1936ful he did do that they were very good friends apperantly just like alot of people in classical music such as Norbert Brainin the viola player from the Amadeus Quartet i find it facinating.
@al1936ful For you to imply that Mr. Warfield was an idiot makes you look like a disgusting liar. You don't know the first thing about LaRouche beyond some dumb slanders spread by REAL degenerates.
Stay tuned folks. If I can find a decent video capture card, I might be able to get actual video's online of Mr. Warfield in concert, a few years before he passed away.
What a treasure Mr. Warfield was. Luckily, I got to meet the gentleman and benefit from his music workshops before he passed away. He always had the funniest anecdotes about his many experiences. Thanks for posting. I'm sure that's a pretty rare record these days.
Why would anyone bother to do this?

@al1936ful Everything you heard about LaRouche is a lie. Warfields long friendship and working relationship with LaRouche proves it.

@OaklandLYM The fact that he had a long friendship with LaRouche does not disprove anything. Even right-wing extremists have friends.

@al1936ful Sorry, I meant left-wing extremists, though you could say the same about right-wingers too.

I met him too. Weird to say this, but he was probably one of the best people I ever met. I loved his jokes, too.
