u have to agree that mamba is slender thin as well as small compared to king kobra . i m not an expert on venom but since both hae neurotoxic venom and if they r immune to their own kind of venom the kobra would easily overpower it(atleast cobras r immune to certain kindes venoms since they mainly eat other snakes far more v enomous than mamba
King kobra's venom may nt be potent drop for drop like those of tipan n kraits but they can compensate it with the volume of venom.they can eject the highest volume of venom than any other serpent.that's y they r the only snakes on the planet whose bite can kill animal as large as an elephant
@phpg92 actually as of now the only snake to have killed an elephant and had it scientifically proven was a black mamba. Course if i recall correctly said mamba was a particularly large and powerful beast.
@dexteralexandria Filming with mantis, tarantulas and scorpions stands high on my list. Say, I'll start posting insects and invertebrate videos by mid sumer 2012.
it might be true that the BM has a powerful venom than a KC, but what KC doesnt have with venompower, it has huge amount of venom to spread out per bite. Since the KC has a speacial blood which makes it pretty much immune to most other venom's, not to mention how big they are (4-5 meters)=> i guess about 12feet, the KC would definitely swallow the BM
@Reigh38 There is no definite static available on how long Black Mambas can grow. One can research the subject and get stuck with somewhere around15 feet but people from Africa wrote me that they had encountered black mambas twenty feet long(?).
They are both Kings in their own domain. But the question is "Who will be the Emperor?". My vote goes for KC. Its such a awesome sight to see KC with his hood up.
Is it true that neither of these snakes are in the top ten most deadliest when it comes to potency of venom? Aren't most of that top ten all based in Australia?
@Sungate96 It's true that the Australian venomous snakes are the most toxic snakes but the black mamba should be in the top ten of venomous snakes of the world.
Although the King Cobra is bigger I thought that the fact that the Black Mamba's venom being more powerful and faster moving would have given it an advantage in any confrontation between the species. If I had to meet one of the two, would prefer it to be the King Cobra as I feel that I would have more chance of getting away without being harmed.
@Sungate96 both the mamba and the king cobra have neurotoxic venom, so the venom would hardly affect each other. it all comes down to raw physical strength.
@ImBeaTz15 The potency of a king cobra's venom is not that "fetal" compared to many other venomous snakes but the king cobra is the largest venomous snake in the world, hence it has the most venom to inject and that's what make a king cobra so deadly..
These are interesting videos, but you need to make a correction in the caption: the King Cobra, not the Black Mamba, is the longest venomous snake in the world. It can reach 18 feet.
Well goohber1 I disagree with you. Since the Cobra is a specialist snake eater, it is used to eating highly venomous snakes in its homelands of Asia. Snake venom is generally all the same where ever the snake comes from. Yes Black Mamba venom is very toxic but so is that of Asian snakes, like the Krait, which make up the diet of the KC.
yeah, but if a King Cobra ate a Black Mamba, it would die eventually from the Mamba's poison after digestion, the Mamba has some serious venom, which would paralyze the Cobra's entire system after full digestion.
My last comment is that the Black Mamba is an aggressive snake that will attack a man. King Cobras on the other hand seem more manageable. I saw a video of a woman confronted by a KC that stood hooded at head height, advanced toward the woman. She backed up then took a six foot rod, held the tip just in front of the KC's face. The snake stopped. Gradually she stroked the hood and eventually pushed the snake sideways to the ground, pinned it and then picked up the snake's head and held above hers
My second comment on the BM is that they are incredibly fast. I was on my motorbike one day on a narrow pathway, with tall grass that was flattened by wind. Out of nowhere a mamba came toward my bike at light speeding through the grass as fast as a man could sprint. It must have felt the vibration from my bike and at the very last second reversed direction and got away as fast as it came. It happened so fast I didn't have a chance to do anything except crap my drawers and shake for 2 hours after
While I respect that Joe is very knowledgeable about these two snakes I wouldn't necessarily declare the King Cobra the winner. Living in the bush in Swaziland, I know from personal experience and other accounts that there are black mambas 20 feet in length that are bigger than a large firehose. Two miners travelling in a Land Rover looked out and saw the head of a BM eye-level with the truck and keeping pace with the vehicle as it went down a dirt road at 10-12 km/hr. They turned to get away
i remember a video in which a guy was showing his friend some of his snakes he keeps, and he showed him his cobra, and when he was putting the cobra in the cage right before he closed the top the cobra leaped out of the cage and bite the guy on his hand and he went to the hospital and bout 3 weeks later there was a baseball sized hole in his hand and you could see some light on the other side of his hand, the skin eventually grew back and all that, but it was amazing how quick the snake was
those snakes are not to be mixed with killing numbers and venom strength. mamba is considered dangerous as it is in africa where medical services are hard to get so if you got bitten you will die.
let it put this way if we compare them on killing humans black mamba is far more dangerous than a cobra but when it comes to 1 on 1 fight mamba doesnt stand a chance because cobra is twice as size of a mamba.... its the same like with leopard and lion. leopards are quick
KC Venom: 8 Power: 9 Speed: 2 BM Venom: 7 Power: 5 Speed: 10 BM wins by striking KC multiple times quickly, then overpowers it when its venom acts. KC corners the BM and overpowers it to death. Both have a 50/50 chance of winning, and neither is immune to others venom (different continents)
@sukruoosten First of all the king cobra isn't immune to any snake venoum and hiw the heel can the king croba eat rattlesnakes if the king cobra lives in india and the rattlesnake in the usa
I thought I read somewhere that BM has more powerful venom than KC. Given the speed of BM, I would think in general BM can kill but perhaps not swallow KC.
It's easier to learn the habits of one individual snake. Mambas can become creatures of their habits and tend to use the same spot in the morning to warm up. That's very helpful knowledge when filming such elusive reptile(s). I filmed two different black mambas for this production. Thanks for watching.
WOW, that king cobra is the real king of all snakes; lol. So much for the mamba being so deadly but it would be very foolish to mess with that black mamba.
At 0:03 it sounded like Black Mamba works for the CIA
