Sadly some are, some are not. It has been very difficult to get permission to stay in the UK on these grounds. Some men for instance have been required to prove even that they are gay! The thinking presumably being that they may be pretending to be gay so as to be able to claim asylum on this basis. So they go from having to pretend they are not gay in Iraq to proving they are gay in the UK. Hopefully things will improve.
