We were fortunate enough to see and hear Perlman play this piece of music with the N Y Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert in Sept 2010. This is a wonderful way of remembering that incredible experience - THANKS!

When I get to playing this part I feel like a real violinist. And 1:48-2:30 is my favourite part EVAH! The strings just play themselves! One day I'll perform this piece with an orchestra, dammit. That's my dream, let me have it. :D

2:11-2:24 UNREAL!!! Legato sautille is so heavy my violin teacher sed it will take me 6 months of daily practices to get it right! and I have school in between, make that 12 months,,,either his bow is really balanced/expensive or hours of practice, OR BOTH!

they two held a concert back in 1995 if my memory is correct.

Mr. Ma played some cello concertos, and mr. Perlman some violin concertos including this one. and they together played serveral pieces of duals, whihch u could find on utube 2.

lol man i'm holding the sheet music in my hands... I meant on this specific performance of mendelssohn would not have included yo yo ma; it's a violin concerto (: perhaps the beethoven triple was the one featuring all three of them? Anyways, I simply made the suggestion so more people will be able to find the video.

thank you sooooooooo much for uploading perlman's performance :D just a few side notes: Yo Yo Ma had nothing to do with this performance, 'tis a concerto for solo violin (: also the tempo marking is "Allegro, molto appassionato". It might help more people find the video if you take Yo yo ma's name off of the title of the vid, but honestly I don't really care - you uploaded it and that's all that counts (:
