The portion I do not understand is the educational component. What exactly is stopping illegal immigrants from attending American colleges and universities? However, I don't support the Dream Act because it doesn't require earning a degree, only attending college for two years, which allows for abuse of the program as a means to gain legal status. They should also be required to pay for their own education, no grants, loans, or aid.
What needs to happen is their parents need to go back to Mexico (they are here illegally) and take their illegal children with them, along with their Mexican flags (this is America...not Mexico). I was always legal (did everything so that my visa never expired) but it costed me lots of money and also taught me the hardships of life. Now I finish my college, I applied for the Green Card (they accepted my applications and I'm half way thru to get it), and later I want to join the military to "pay back". Fk illegals. Cheers ;).

The Dream Act would be contrary to already-existing federal law, which says it's a CRIME to aid or abet, or to encourage or harbor, illegals aliens. Instead, all universities and other schools harboring illegal aliens should be PROSECUTED, and fined $5,000 EACH illegal, and made to pay all deportation costs.

Actually the universities and other schools that enroll illegals should be prosecuted and fined under this already-existing federal criminal law:
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
That law clearly states that it is a CRIME to aid or abet or to encourage or harbour illegal aliens. Those schools should also be made to pay all deportation costs.
I urge everyone who opposes the illegals to message your federal reps demanding enforcement of that law.

I say kill the dream act till its changed to only cover those < 20, they have 4 years to complete 2 years of military service or 2 years of college, fail to complete, GPA falls below 2.8, or receive anything other than an Honorable discharge at ETS and deportation begins immediately, no hearing, no trial, fail to prove they did it and its on a bus or plane and off they go.

I understand and agree w/ the military component of the dream act. An illegal earns their citizenship because they risk their lives and fight for this country. Makes sense.
The portion I do not understand is the educational component. What exactly is stopping illegal immigrants from attending American colleges and universities? Last time I checked there were countless foreign student matriculating at Harvard and MIT. So what's to stop illegals from pursuing the same education?

However, I don't support the Dream Act because it doesn't require earning a degree, only attending college for two years, which allows for abuse of the program as a means to gain legal status. They should also be required to pay for their own education, no grants, loans, or aid.

What needs to happen is their parents need to go back to Mexico (they are here illegally) and take their illegal children with them, along with their Mexican flags (this is America...not Mexico). Since they are citizens of Mexico, they can go to school there and join the Mexican military. I was always legal (did everything so that my visa never expired) but it costed me lots of money and also taught me the hardships of life. Now I finish my college, I applied for the Green Card (they accepted my applications and I'm half way thru to get it), and later I want to join the military to "pay back". Fk illegals. Cheers ;).

Actually the universities and other schools that enroll illegals should be prosecuted and fined under this already-existing federal criminal law:
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
That law clearly states that it is a CRIME to aid or abet or to encourage or harbour illegal aliens. Those schools should also be made to pay all deportation costs.
I urge everyone who opposes the illegals to message your federal reps demanding enforcement of that law.

If this is about kids Why does the act cover "kids" up to age 35?
I say kill the dream act till its changed to only cover those < 20, they have 4 years to complete 2 years of military service or 2 years of college, fail to complete, GPA falls below 2.8, or receive anything other than an Honorable discharge at ETS and deportation begins immediately, no hearing, no trial, fail to prove they did it and its on a bus or plane and off they go.

we need more than ever people to go to college and the military and if they are willing to do this as a way for them to stay, why don't we take advantage of this opportunity and incorporate the millions of kids that want to become law abiding contributing citizens. It is the poor immigration policies and lack control over immigration that has lead to this. Not educating them serves no one and creates more problems for all. Turning our backs on children is not the America I know and love.
