C.V.T is a transmission with NO gears, so basicly its an automatic tranny so of course you wont have to shift. I have thc cvt in my 07 altima and its ok but its not as fun as a regular transmission with gears. kinda holds the car back from its full potential. But I drove a new lancer gts and it has the tiptronic option (Manual mode) still its not the best tiptronic though cause there are NO gears so all it dose is pretend to have gears to make it feel like a M/T.

the cvt is holding you back during burnouts, because its selecting a gear and rep for the most torque so you start moving, instead of skidding in place.

A CVT delivers the correct gearing for maximum torque. A very ingenious idea, but its not exactly great for doing burouts in a FWD car.

yeah it comes in automatic and you can choose any time if you feel like shifting, it got the shifting gears, only on the GTS model, the DE and ES models you can get it automatic

it got the semi auto tranny with the cvt in there, u know when ur driving in auto and u wanna shift then u just move your stick to the + and - part, thats when u shift

@Studmike02 he means the car comes with cvt and also tritronic witch means theres + and - for shifting up and down and i think on the newer models or maybe all models theres 2 tabs on either side of the steering wheel that you can shift up and down without the need of a clutch

man, engine is stronger than handbrake that time. I think the CVT transmission setup may have made a burnout a bit harder these days though.
