  • caltracs really hook up

  • Did you wheelie just pop a wheelie?

  • WOW! If the new copo runs like that, back to the drawing board svt!

  • my friend at work had a `69 COPO with low miles sitting in his garage for about 20 years.he took it to an auction and left it go for $30,000. What you think?.

  • @just1terry try 150k

  • is that at u.s. 131?

  • WHAT GEAR RATIO AND TRANSMISSION DOES IT HAVE ?

  • so its not the zl1 motor? iron heads?

  • @BT1DEATH If its a copo its the iron block and headed 427. The ZL1 was also a "copo" but is usually referred to as a ZL1 car. I believe the #3 ZL1 car was not a R/S car or vinyl top car either. I think the car in this video is a iron block and headed copo car. Nice car though, and very rare and valuable. These guys have some guts racing that thing, but hey that's what they were built for. Kudos to them.

  • These Engines really wake up when you bolt on a set of headers. Id say its not far from stock at all. Big tires and a better ignition system. Better Camshaft. Thats all they need to bust out 10's..

  • @acemaster1001 hell yeah. the zl1 yenkos ran 12 flat with an auto. 11.73 manual. stock numbers. rated at 435, theyve been found to make 585 with a set of headers and a carb tune. amazing motors. the 69 vettes with the zl1 were running 10.99 STOCK.

  • @RicerEater1978 where do you dream these times up?no stock car in those days ran anywhere near low 11s or high tens ....None.

  • @camirocz do a little more research and youll find out a lot about the yenkos :p

  • @RicerEater1978 Yenko = dealership MODIFIED.

  • @FATMIKED5183 uh huh?

  • @RicerEater1978 If it's modified,it's not stock.So camirocz is right.

  • @FATMIKED5183 you buy it from a dealership. in 69 no engine transfer had to be made for the yenkos, they were ordered like that.

  • @RicerEater1978 True, but stock would be from the factory.Dealership modified is still modified.Definitely a big difference between the factory and the dealership.Case in point, before pontiac's super duty program the pontiac dealers would slip speed parts to the racers on the downlow. So the parts came from the dealer, but if the NHRA found out it would be a problem because the factory wasn't building them that way.

  • @RicerEater1978 ...And if I'm not mistaken those cars had their own class because they weren't factory. They would have ate truly stock cars for breakfast.I mean look at the dart gss.It had an untouched 440 with just headers thrown into an otherwise stock dart, with an auto, and was good for high 11's(?) as is,on the factory toothpick tires.Imagine that with even just a tune and slicks, let alone weight reduction and engine work,a built trans and so on.A truly stock car wouldn't have a prayer.

  • @FATMIKED5183 and they sounded even more mean. lol. I've seen those cars before running on stock bias ply. it would be nice tto see one on slicks run with a copo camaro. learned a few weeks ago that yenkos don't use the zl1 427. actual zl1 copos would run mid to high 11s.

  • @RicerEater1978 That would be one hell of a match up.

  • @FATMIKED5183 total factory car!

  • @FATMIKED5183 150k is about what ya might get for a a true copo

  • @copocamaro Oooookay.That was random.

  • @camirocz ive seen a completely stock 69 yenko with a th400 run high 11s/low 12s. with the mucies were getting a little faster on stock manifolds, but there was a header option back in the 60s. i cant confirm the 10 second vettes, ive only read about them. but yenkos in the 11s is definitely true. baldwin motions were also running in the 11s

  • @RicerEater1978 oct 1969 motortrend mag. zl1 corvette 10.9@130........

  • @MrFordhater1 mind sending me a link through message or something? ive read it and havent been able to find it since. thanks

  • The car is not that far from stock- the engine has unported iron Chevy heads, factory dual-plane intake,4150 Holley. It does have pistons, a good ring package, and a camshaft change. Aftermarket ignition and fuel systems also. The suspension is nothing special, all Cal-Tracs stuff in the back, Moroso springs and Global West bushings up front. Rear gears are 4.30's.

It has gone faster than the ET and MPH in the video, but not as fast as one of the fastest NHRA A-Stock eliminator 427 Camaros!

  • Hell no its not stock. For one thing it has a race suspension, a stock car would have boiled the tires launching that hard. Probably running 5.12 rear end too. The engine is heavily modified as well from the sound and from the trap speed.

  • Is this a bone stock? If so I had no idea you could squeeze a ten out of it.

  • i can smell the exaust now haha i love sleepers

  • @bad65stang If you see the brand Hoosier on the sidewalls my friend you should know it's not a sleeper, lol, and even idling a 427 COPO is hard pressed from being anything but quiet. My 383 stroker with cats and flowmasters, sets off car alarms just putting by.

  • @drewnashty i know what i ment is that the body is mostly stock

  • @bad65stang actly gm called the copo camaro there sleeper car

  • I Like the 66-67 Plymouth or Dodge he raced.

  • That car is flawless!!! Good light but ya ran under your dial :)- lol

  • i LOVE this camaro!!!

  • It's been a long time since I built any street engines. Try asking the guys at the Team Camaro website. Lots of guys there could help with a good street 454. Good luck with your build. If I see you on there I'll say hi.

  • @D427425 Thanks man ! Preciate the info.

  • No offset shackles. Calvert split mono leaf springs, Cal-Tracs, Rancho 9-way adj. shocks.

  • @D427425 Thanks and by the way,you have some awsome camaro's. I have a 454 that i'm building for mine, got any pointers on how to build it for some serious horse power and still have a dependable street car? That is if you dont mind me picking your brain.

  • Tires are 9x28x15 Hoosier slicks, on 15x10 wheels with 5 inches of backspace. Wheelwells are not modified in any way. You should have no problems getting them under your Camaro. Make sure you use a 10 inch wide wheel on those 9 inch slicks- much better traction than a narrower wheel.

  • @D427425 What about your leaf springs? No offset shackles?

  • I've got to know what set up you are running under the rear of your copo. I'm getting my 69 SS 396 camaro painted now and i want to put more rubber under the rear without cutting up the wheel wells. If you can give me tire and rim size and if you're running offset shackles it would be a great deal of help to me. Thank you

  • I own this Camaro, and yes it is a real COPO.Been a drag car almost from day one, even when Berger Chevrolet still had it. And yes there were a very few RS COPO's, Berger sold probably 6, the most of any dealer. Maybe 12 or so made total. It is not cut up, would be easy to put back to original.BTW, it is not the only COPO Camaro out there being raced!

  • agreed, very doubtful its a copo. u may think it is but theres alot of thinkers in the world and the true people that actually own a copo camaro wouldnt have it goin down the strip and be all fabricated.

  • nice car but doubtfully a copo camaro

  • I thought COPOs were optionless except for the drive train, meaning no RS trim.

  • Comment removed

  • They have many options including rs trim. They also had camaro emblems on the fenders.

  • @24beat8 A COPO came with a 427 with special cams. there where no markings on it saying that it was a COPO while the Yenko was the same thing but had fany options like racing stripes ect

  • Nice video man! Sweet sweet ride! :D
