Hi. I have a question for you. Was your tank an old propane tank? If so where did you get the fins to place inside the tank for the heat transfer? I've tried to look them up on the internet but I can't find anything. Thank you
@gunkyjoe725 Good day. Yes, it is a converted 300-gallon propane tank. Search for this video: Eko 40 Wood Gasification Boiler 2 He has a real good view of the coils.
Mine - google AHONA. Not sure if they still carry them. Good luck!
Nice vid. too many of the vids of these units do not seem to be burning a nicely as yours is doing. Apparently some folks do not know how to operate them properly. They are so proud of what looks like a good flame. yeah, compared to a fireplace but they should see yours and try to get it to run properly.
Thanks. This is the second winter I have used this unit. It is performing well. With the addition of three solar panels and re-insulation of the holding tank, I have wood consumption down to approximately one (1) face cord per month. Most of the time, I load firewood once a day.
@Kntryhart Hi there, I am interested to know what you are using the solar panels for, and how you have added them? I am assuming they are photovoltaic, so do you store the power to run the fans/ pumps from? Thanks!
The boiler controller manages all circulator pump functions. All parameters are programmable via the controller. You can change the temperature that the circulator pump stops in case of low temps. Eko recommends keeping the boiler above a certain temp to avoid condensation.
No it is not that much! My Casio calculator says 3000 litres is 792 US gals. Even that may be a bit much for an eco 25 - I might change the boiler to an Eco 40 as I am planning an extension.
Phew...that is a lot of capacity! If my conversion is correct, that is about 2400 US gallons. The Model 25 might not have the capacity to keep all that at temp.
I wish I had 1000 gallons, but I had no place for that size tank.
The main boiler controller has provisions to control the flue fan. I added a manual switch override that keeps smoke out of the building when adding firewood ( a HUGE problem with the old boiler).
The UPS supplies power to the boiler control, fans, and one circulator pump. It is important to maintain circulation between boiler and holding tank to prevent overheating boiler during a power loss. Dealer told me about this condition when I purchased boiler.

wow, when you opened that door and I seen that flame and heard that noise that was very impressive, I didn't know you could do that with wood.

@dataplumbing No PV; solar hot water; works great!

Do you have a flue thermostat to cut out the pump to the tanks when the fire goes out?

Here they are!
Does the boiler control give the fan's periodic cut-in? Did you fit a
barometric flap and flue stat on the flue?

Yes, the boiler controller regulates the flushing cycle of both the induction fan and the flue fan (one in the same).
I also have the low water cutoff so that if there is water loss, the boiler will not fire.
No barometric damper (very short chimney). I had no problem with excessive draft at all.

Hi
Thanks! I like your deflector plate warning system and will certainly
incorporate it as I am of a certain age too...
I purchased one of these at a bargain price after someones forced change of
plan - I am not usually that lucky! I have 3 1000 litre NAD tanks, laddomat
21 charger, flue fan
(which has a
4-wire connector), and a 300 litre expansion tank.
Some more qns coming!

Hi there
Excelent videos and commentaries!
2 queries
1 What controller do you use for the flue fan and how is it wired into the boiler control?
2 Does the 1200 Watt UPS feed the circulator pump to the tank and the boiler control?

Could you give the manufacturer of the "bun" that you described, the heat exchanger inside your 300 gallon tank.
I'm picking up a 1600 Gal tank next month (stainless steel) and looking for ways to reject my heat into the tank.
Great video, thank you. I'm hooking up a EKO 40 this spring/summer, and might email you with questions. Thanks again
