My dad used to hang around the same studio in karachi and was sometimes mistaken for Mohammed Ali...looking at this vid brought tears to my eyes cause this is exactly how my late father used to look then. 00000awe: I wish u would not call people mad. This is a discussion of music and proper words should be used. Rafi had a 4 octave range and mehdi could not go over 3 octaves at best. Usually mehdi remained in the two octave range and was best in ghazals, where ones inability to sing in high range can be hidden as most of the ghazal singers are poor in range. The only two ghazal singers that gave range equal to rafi were noor jahan and mukhtar begum, the elder sister of farida khanum. Now if u do

Excellent singing by mehdi and noor. Only problem is that mehdi kept to low range the whole of his part and noor could not go too high as she would have exposed mehdi's weakness. Both talat and rafi would have sung mehdi's part equally well or better. Rafi would have put the high notes allowing noor to put in her very high notes and this duet would have been even better. Still, great singing by mehdi.
