only those who aren't a real beatle fan talk shit about Macca OR Lennon, we all have our favourite one, but they are the same perfect artist that the world bring us all.
@Noise789 It's not perfectly o.k. with me. He's got enough great songs of his own to do without hijacking one of John's best songs and just rubbing it in that he's still he hear and Lennon's dead. He did it first at Liverpool city of culture 08 gig in front of Yoko so what was she going to think? She was going to think 'If only John was still here...'that's why I don't like it.
@lolharbandhar he performed it first at the Liverpool08 thing in front of Yoko. Imagine how he'd feel if Yoko performed one of linda's songs. It'd just make him feel bad 'cause Linda wasn't there to sing it herself. So it's insensitive. He might well go and dance on johns grave.
@Stube437 he's doing the song as a dedication to john, plus he wrote half of it!! so your saying just because john died his music should die with him. thats the thing bout music its eternal it doesnt die nd im pretty sure john would be happy that his song is still being played and people from a tottally different generation are loving it.
@Stube437 Why? Paul and John both worked closely on this song... Paul has his own verse, came up with the "Id love to turn you on" line and also had the idea of the crazy orcestra sound. If anything this is more Paul's song than Johns IMO.
@chicagolegend But the beauty of this song is set by the verses John wrote and sang. Yes, the song is MUCH better and epic for Paul's contributions, but it's John's opening and closing verses that are truly beautiful and haunting.
I went through a phase where i was obsessed with finding out if paul was dead, when i googled "never could see any other way" sgt peppers lonely hearts club band comes up, but there is no quote of the actual lyric. It's actually scary it's just random words dotted around in difference sentences. Oddest thing i've ever seen.
omg if your level of Beatles knowledge is so low you have to ask which one is Ringo and post saying Ringo was a Beatle do us all a favor and don't bother
@blackreven used to belive in the Paul Mccartny was dead myth too, but even if u rly belive he is an impostor, u have to respect this paul because hes done alot. (this is not meant to start a flame war more of a disscussion)
The BEatles have broken up- they no longer play together usually. Ringo and Paul reunited to sing 'friends' at Radio City Music Hall concert. and later reunited for the Concert For George 2001 a tribute to George Harrison the BEatle inclusing paul, ringo, george's son Dhani, and other famus guys. it's available on DVD. This is the band Wings, ggeorge's son Dhani Harrison isn't playing here. He plays regular and electric guitar in his own band.
I like when the other Beatles take stabs at singing songs a different Beatle sang originally. This is an amazing tribute to John. Sure, Lennon sang it "better," but guess what? He's not around anymore to sing it. I'll take the next best thing : Paul McCartney.
well he's also using MUCH bigger drums, a 26" bass drum compared to a 20 or 22 that was used, and BIG toms
i've never really dug abe's drum sound, it's got no defenition, his high tom is still really low and his bass is just too big for this type of music, I mean they're not playing zeppelin
he's a damn fine drummer, but he needs to change his kit to go with the music
Yeah but Lennon was inspired as he was the writer and he was only 27 years old when he sang it, not 66! Macca would have sung this nice in 1967 also but couldn't have done what Lennon did with it!
Paul did a medley tribute song about 18 years ago. Strawberry field/ Help/ Give Peace a Chance. Great to hear him sing A Day in the Life. Of course he can't live up to the legendary vocals that John provided but it was a great tribute anyhow. Ironically he keeps messing up the middle bit, which way his major contribution to the song.
I'm happy that Paul began playing this. It's a nice tribute to John, a great performance, and the only instance I can think of where Paul sang one of John's songs.
To see a Beatle do this song, especially the one who co-wrote it, is immensley interesting to me. If I wanted to hear the Peppar version, I would pop in a CD. This is a just a good, rocking version of it that my ears tremendously enjoyed.
woah are you serious you don't know who paul mccartney is? why the hec were you even watching him perform then? by the way, he's from the beatles and also the wings.
it's written together by John and Paul. John had the verses, while Paul had the little bit in the middle. So they had the idea of putting them together and there you have it ...
Paul also had the bit "I'd love to turn you on" . Actually, they were both sitting at the piano when he came up with that. Apparently it was one of those moments where they just looked at each other and knew that was the line.
Give Peace A Chance was written by John Lennon when you one of his bed-ins. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that McCartney was involved in this song, if there is please tell me as I am interested. As far as I have read it is a John Lennon and possibly Yoko Ono song.
As stated on wikipedia: "McCartney was reportedly given cowriting credit as a gesture of gratitude for his help in recording Lennon's highly personal The Ballad of John and Yoko the previous April, and accepting it for release as a Beatles single."
Paul written the MIDDLE, the most important verse: "I'D LOVE TO TURN YOU ON" and above all, the revolutionary and iconic ORCHESTRA and play Piano. So song is 50% McCartney and 50% Lennon.
Sure and all I was saying was that wile Lennon's gothic ballad is the original idea, it's McCartney's connecting of this to his own , very different song, via a build up and "dream" sequence (both his idea) that makes this truly revolutionary. 60/40 Macca..... Just kidding. 50/50.
This is a John AND Paul song. The chaotic build up in the middle/end was Paul's idea and he conducted the orchestra. And the "woke up got out of bed" bit is all paul. The "went into a dream AHHH" is all Paul. However John's verse is so good I'd give it a 50/50 John/Paul split. I'd like to hear him do more John songs. "Walrus" and "Lucy.." etc. If anyone's got the right it's him. "How do you sleep" might be a step too far but it'd be a hoot. "She loves you & "..Hand.." 50/50's would be great too.
Not, all you effort trying to explain me something that i already know was a waste of time. A day in the life is a original John song, Hunter Davies knows it, he found a lost tape in the Abbey studio. Paul too the song and added the middle, working with Lennon obviously, but the main song is John's.
They're both great song writers. Lennon had a beginning and an end to a song, McCartney had a middle to a song, so they just put them together. There will never be another song writing team like Lennon/McCartney.
Sure, but i was only trying to say that A day in the life is an original Lennon composition but the final version on the album has the middle added by Paul, but the main melody is John's. I think their early songs are more working team songs.
True, they probably thought it would sound better to stick with the Lennon/Mccartney as the song writing credits. Gotta admit they were the greatest songwriting team ever.
Paul the middle + the I'd love to turn you on "sentence". The orchestral build up was more or less a Paul/George Martin brainchild. Although John calling it a musical orgasm.
In my eyes is an artificial but masterly added i the middle by Paul and with the orchestra, but the basic song is I read the news today oh boy, it's obvious Paul sing this song for John Lennon, that's because is a John Lennon song but in the Beatles and where Paul worked with him to turn the track in a piece of art.
he sounds not as good coz he was in a thunder storm for 2 hours and he would not cancel the concert you would sound a bit off key if you had just been soaked i now this because paul caslin was the director aka poggie caslin aka my brother
Yes i know the sotry, it's a John composition nd the Paul added the middle, but i repeat it's very strange that McCartney sang this song, because really is a John song, even the style of the song it's bad to be singed by Paul, thought all the songs by Lennon or McCartney are credited to Lennon/McCartney in The Beatles, everybody knows it.
Anyone else notice how paul sang found the way in seconds flat instead of made the bus in seconds flat

I would give my heart to see Lennon with McCartney in this concert singing together like in the old days, it would be amazing.

The songs is a true Lennon McCartney song.

I agree, his voice is not very good on this one.
Maybe he was so touched that his voice kind of broke...
Please no more "BUT THIS IS A JOHN SONG" comments! Note the "Give peace a chance" ending. What does that tell you about Macca's intention??

Sure, everybody who knows well Lennon McCartney knows to tell the difference a John song from a Paul song, and this is a John song.
WiltatKansas 3 years ago
It is a both song. This one was a 50/50 effort
bob46 3 years ago
The middle 8 was his. It's credited to them both anyway. You know the story. However, i didn't expect this one.
There should be an official DVD of this. This was very rare to happen in the Ukraine.

WiltatKansas 3 years ago
yes, idiot, and he did this as a tribute in him because its a great song and they were in a band called the Beatles together. Idiot.

He's in out of vocal shape in 0-8 but anything to mix up the set list in 0-8 is okay with me.
