@ashflashusa You should definitely play this game, just make sure you're not looking for Chrono Trigger 2. This game is very different from Chrono Trigger, but still amazing.
I never completed this game because I didn't care much for the game. The battle system is awesome, but I didn't really like the characters in the game. However, this game probably has the best soundtrack out of any game I've ever played. Every area of this game is just one awesome tune after another.
Yasunoria Mitsuda at his finest. He's done a lot of amazing soundtracks, like Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Xenosaga Episode I, but this is definitely his finest work yet.
I just dl'd this on my PS3 for nostalgia purposes. Now I leave the world map open and sleep to this. I love this game more than any PS3 games. Graphics are overrated.
@SH4M4NW0LF Yes, it's not nice D: I remember I had to jump through a fiery hoop into a pit of poisonous scorpisnakes just to get Chrono Trigger back in about 2003 D:
@LuminityBand All ican say is get your a PS and look for the game one ebay, well worth it. Or wait for it to be released on the PSN. A true video game classic, that everyone should enjoy at least one along with chrono trigger.
The 2 main hero that i wont change. Serge and Kid. I dont want them to be separated T_T the whole gameplay u used them both and nvr switch them away. 1 more i forget xD
I personally played this game first before playing the original Chrono Trigger. After playing both I found that the only thing that remotely linked Trigger to Cross was the princess and Kid characters. Even then to me it was far fetched because one was about dealing with time travel and different endings (which is the more popular mechanic with the series fans imho) and the separation of the world itself into two halves. So imo each game was great in their own right.
Chrono Cross was such a disappointment for me... Great soundtrack but really poor storyline and mediocre gameplay. Chrono Trigger still stands as my favorite game, and this was such a letdown. I really wish they didn't try to tie it in with CT - maybe I would have enjoyed it more if Square had made it a completely separate game
@GoldenPubes u such a dissapointment, the C.Trigger u play which is not nice graphic and the gameplay is not cool at all.. the Chrono cross is the best game i ever play in PS1. and have nice storyline and music too.. Maybe u too kiddo to play this game or maybe u cant even pass over the quest. Noob!
@MaxyAngel01 Learn to spell kid. Even though I wasn't crazy about Chrono Cross I still played it through 3-4 times. You must not have played many RPG's if you think so highly of CC - it was a solid game but simply didn't have the replay value that other squaresoft games had. CT is widely considered to be one of the best RPG's of all time, and honestly it completely blows CC out of the water. Sounds like you need to actually play some other RPG's instead of talking out of your ass.
@GoldenPubes I've played millions of RPGs and consider Chrono Cross the best. So what? If you are going to judge games on their reputation you might as well skip the actual gameplay and stop when you are done reading the review. Everyone to their own please.
@skurtVIDEOS I never said I based my judgement on other's reviews - learn to read better. I've been playing RPG's since NES, and I've never based my judgement on another's review. I made that point because a comment was made about Chrono Trigger being a "kiddie" game and labeling it as trash, which is ridiculous. That's great you liked the game so much - wish I could have had the same experience. Either way I hope Squaresoft goes back to their roots and starts making quality games again
@GoldenPubes I've completed both CC and CT many times and I prefer CC. I have also played plenty of RPGs over the years so must know something myself. CC has plenty of replay value, multiple endings, loads of characters to collect and items to make. I would say CT has more but CC has more than most. It is a stunning game that is foolishly hidden in the shadow of CT by journalists and 'experts'.
@volkte37 Interesting take on CC. I guess some of the things you loved about it are some of the reasons I was a little disappointed- I actually disliked the loads of characters, because I felt like it really took away from character development that I really enjoyed in CT. It just really bothered me that they tried to tie CC into CT, and I think that's what really left a bad taste in my mouth. Even though I say I was disappointed, I still own the game and played it through several times. Cheers!
@GoldenPubes I can see where you are coming from. The problem is though is that when developers make a follow up to a game as big of a hit as CT then they really can't win. If they stray too far from the original like perhaps CC than the fans moan it is too different, but if they make it too similar it gets classed as being the same old lazy shit. I thought the tie in to CT was very well handled, it didn't go overboard with it but it also didn't announce it was a direct sequel.
I just finished a hidden gem called Radical Dreamers on SNES. You have to play it on an emulator since it was never released outside Japan, but it's been translated. The storytelling is just excellent. It's a text based game with still and animated images and a soundtrack that will sound familiar. This game was made after CTrigger but before CCross.
Don't hesitate because it's a text based game, you won't regret it.
Okay, I first played this game 9 freaking years ago and have been listening to the OST since 2004...and this STILL gets to be and sends chills down my spine. Why the HELL is there not another Chrono game?
@SpanishFly120 I think SE legitly realizes how amazing the chrono games are, and are afraid of tarnishing that image by producing something that is up to their current mediocre standards and throwing the chrono name on it.
Ohhh the tears i dropped with this game, pure bliss, this is a big big part of my life, thank you Squaresoft for making such a beautiful piece of art.

gotta love squaresoft....and this song sounds familiar, my cousin used to play a lotta these games when i was around 4 so maybe thats where i heard it.....im kinda pissed that i dont remember the actual game tho.
@boringtree I played it....just finished it .....cried like a lil bitch....i was hoping for a happy ending, he would live happily ever after with kis and yadda yadda yadda but nope....it was tragic..fuckin sure that i failed all of my final exams cuz i stayed up on school nights playin it.
@CheyenneUchiha It's a sad ending, but it's encouraging that schala/kid is so certain that they'll meet again, that there are other alternate realities out there where they'll be together again. Assuming you got the good ending.
It's funny how each of these songs can be reflected a past experience in life endured by everyone who has played Chrono Cross. Yasunori Mitsuda's music has that kind of effect on people,
@darkflameknight dude 12 had too little character development and a little involved battle system, and they should have fixed that, but 13's battle system was very engaging especially during later boss battles and the linearity has been going on for a long time.
@italiaboy1123 dude seriously, I have had enough of people bitching about how square-enix killed squaresoft, I loved ff1-10 I played and have beaten every game in the series excluding 5 and 12, and I still don't understand why people hate 12 and 13. I get that the lack of character development or involvement (ff12) is a big deal, and that they should have fixed that, but I have fun playing it and enjoy the story as well as the story of 13. I also think that 13's battle system was superb.
@Lonewolf349128 My friends never finnished 13 cause of how crappy and unimaginative it is... You are one the few that like enix... 12's battle system was a step up from 13 and is was not well implemented. Even reviewers agree that quality has declined... Squaresoft forever man, square enix can go fuck itself.
@italiaboy1123 here lies squaresoft, the manifestation grave of all of squaresoft's good producers, idea's, and games. may you always be in our hearts forever.
@yang3844 I feel like instead of focusing on a story that can take you on an emotional roller coaster, they have been putting more work into graphics. It's all about appealing to the masses that want the flashy scenes and over done battle systems.
this is without question the best game I have EVER played. Everything about the game was so deep and rich with emotion, from the amazing story line, to all the wonderfully orchestrated musical scores, and especially all the heart-loved characters. This was an adventure like no other, even amongst video games. If there was ever a game that could get inside you and make you feel the moment, it was this one. Chrono Cross, you will be missed. :)
@KyubiStewie Played them both, Chrono Trigger is (in my opinion) the better game to start with if your a JRPG fan, just cause alot of people wont like the levelling system in Cross, cause I admit I didn't like that I couldnt go completely overboard with my characters strengths at first but grew to LOVE the game! Shame I got to what I assume was the last dungeon and my save got wiped and I havent played it since so I'm hoping for a Europe psn release
@plebman182 I heard Europe was left out in the cold when the game launched in 1995, but was given a chance when the DS port arrived. Hopefully, Square Enix will do the same if it hits PSN, or at least a port for the 3DS or Vita.
@KyubiStewie I would really like to own it, I have only played a rom/iso version of the game but I would rather own it legitamately, Yeah we did not even get Chrono Trigger at the time but as you said we were given it for the DS so hopefully (I do keep checking) it appears on the european psn
@Reason: Yeah I was kinda thinkin about that alittle while ago Wish I were at the beach , but the Beach in North Carolina , I believe that has more of a memory kinda field to it than anyotha I have been to. @ Maha: I really have to play Chrono Cross a few more times , I am still alittle off but it, but never the less its gamepla is awsome took a little bit to master the fighting tactics. I do love the story line as much as I can follow it, but Chrono is always gonna be a beloved game play.

You know I havn't began any of the Kingdom Hearts yet. but I must , I bam falling behind in gaming , no actually I fell behind and I hope it ain't to lat to rejoin the Gaming world of da world, Finall fantasy 13 and now 14 and have fully begun FF12 ... but thatkz to My gamers across the world i am able to keep up alittle atleast in thought and in spirit. but I stay away from the games on youtube that I hav't played yet. only watched the trailers.
Chrono Trigger have difinatly put Me through an adventure around the block and so many times, actuallt found everything without utalising the guide book just kept playing it ova and ova, especiall when adding the game continuation and able to keep everything from the last , I thought that was pure genius.., in such a way. i wonder what it be like of they made Zelda like an RPG aswell.
Dear Square Enix. Normally I'd ask you to make more games that aren't Final Fantasy.
But don't touch the Chrono series. This game is perfect and wonderful and anything you do couldn't possibly make it any more beautiful and effective than it already is.
I just came here, and I've never played Chrono Cross before, but... Is it wrong that I almost started to cry as soon as the music started? What's happening to me...?
@jomon324 its natural to be sad when hearing this. its also a fond sign of a game though old, still lives in our hearts. to briefly summarize this song, it plays in the alternate version of your world, where the protagonist, Serge, died when he was young. so you walk around your hometown and no one knows you, but they all knew serge, and his death affected them all heavily.
@AgentStolas It's a wonderful life, isn't it? I reaally need to play this game. "When someone disappears, it leaves a gaping hole in the lives around him or her." Paraphrased, but still relevant. Thank you for informing me.
I've made it into a habit and beat almost every game i was too little to beat 10 years ago and this is still by far one of the greatest games ever made. those who haven't really should take the time to go back and re-live one of histories greatest RPG 's. Tip: Glenn and Serge = epic combo
Although I never played Chrono Cross, for some reason, this has such a familiar feel to it. Almost like I had played it... such a comforting, soft song :)
This game was SO awesome at the time. Final Fantasy VII had all the JRPGs and a lot of games in general all gray and muted, just sadly fucking emo really. THEN BOOM! The music was upbeat and magical, the landscape was colorful, all the characters were vibrant and alive.
One of the best stories I've ever seen / heard / read / have been a part of.
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Cross. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
I've listened to this soundtrack countless times. And I've never played the game. I'm actually playing through Trigger for the first time, that way I can go into Cross understanding all of the backstory. And I am having an absolute BLAST with Trigger. All of the characters are incredibly memorable, I love the visuals, and the battle system is absolutely boss. I'm actually starting to see why so many people say they had high expectations for Cross, but I'll have to see for myself :)
@snaredrums123 I was in the EXACT same position as you! Thankfully, I have beaten both games and I am proud to say I own Chrono Cross. Chrono Trigger and Cross are probably in my Top 5 of favourite games of all time!
However, I have one thing to tell you. Go into Chrono Cross without the intention of playing a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger. It is NOT a direct sequel to Trigger. It just happens to be in the same world, so there are references. Also, be really patient with Chrono Cross.
@snaredrums123 I'm half in your position right now - I haven't played Chrono Cross, but I did beat Trigger literally about a week ago. I plan to try out Cross sometime soon, even if just to experience the source game of this absolutely magical soundtrack.
Trust me, your money will be well spent on this game. When I first saw this game, I had a pretty "meh" feeling about it. I thought there was no way it could live up to Chrono Trigger. How wrong I was. I actually like this game more, although Chrono Trigger is still one of my favorites. :)
@MahamudSamatar You can buy a brand-new still wrapped copy off of Amazon for about $20. I'm not spamming you. I had to go through 3 copies of this game to finally finish it (Damn PS1 discs scratch easily) and when it kept freezing at a certain scene, I was glad it was so cheap at amazon. You wouldn't' have the same luck with FF7 or Xenogears...
Even though I was disappointed by second disc, I'd say it's worth a place through.
@GeminiBreaker you can buy a packages copy of Chrono Cross directly from Square Enix for 14.95 on their website. Same with Final Fantasy Origins/Chronicles/Anthology and FF9.
@VashFanboy1 ARRUUGHHGHG... ive been buying most a squares games off ebay for more than they sell on that store, and those arent opened too... thanks for points that out -.-
@MahamudSamatar One of the best story-lines I have ever seen, with some of the most beautiful music as well. Though I only recently started it, I believe there are alternative ways to beat the game (as well as alternative party members) ... Something of which I don't hear of much today =_=
I've only played Chrono Trigger, I would love to find this game.

Squaresoft forever man, square enix can go fuck itself.

@JiraiyaFan No shit retard.
Chrono Cross was very mediocre, the story was a clusterfuck and the gameplay was retarded.
But it had good music.

@italiaboy1123 I totally agree with this Squaresoft made so many classic RPGS. Compare to SquareEnix where most of their games nowadays are trash
yang3844 2 months ago
@yang3844 squaresoft made more than just jrgps. they had balls back then
acicon 2 months ago
@yang3844 I feel like instead of focusing on a story that can take you on an emotional roller coaster, they have been putting more work into graphics. It's all about appealing to the masses that want the flashy scenes and over done battle systems.
blinkin151 2 months ago
this is without question the best game I have EVER played.

Shame I got to what I assume was the last dungeon and my save got wiped and I havent played it since so I'm hoping for a Europe psn release
plebman182 1 month ago in playlist Liked videos
@plebman182 I heard Europe was left out in the cold when the game launched in 1995, but was given a chance when the DS port arrived. Hopefully, Square Enix will do the same if it hits PSN, or at least a port for the 3DS or Vita.
KyubiStewie 1 month ago
@KyubiStewie I would really like to own it, I have only played a rom/iso version of the game but I would rather own it legitamately, Yeah we did not even get Chrono Trigger at the time but as you said we were given it for the DS so hopefully (I do keep checking) it appears on the european psn

I do love the story line as much as I can follow it, but Chrono is always gonna be a beloved game play.

What's happening to me...?
jomon324 4 months ago 2
@jomon324 its natural to be sad when hearing this. its also a fond sign of a game though old, still lives in our hearts. to briefly summarize this song, it plays in the alternate version of your world, where the protagonist, Serge, died when he was young. so you walk around your hometown and no one knows you, but they all knew serge, and his death affected them all heavily.
AgentStolas 4 months ago
@AgentStolas It's a wonderful life, isn't it? I reaally need to play this game. "When someone disappears, it leaves a gaping hole in the lives around him or her." Paraphrased, but still relevant. Thank you for informing me.
jomon324 4 months ago
I've made it into a habit and beat almost every game i was too little to beat 10 years ago and this is still by far one of the greatest games ever made. those who haven't really should take the time to go back and re-live one of histories greatest RPG 's. Tip: Glenn and Serge = epic combo

KodamaofNorthtree 5 months ago
I've listened to this soundtrack countless times. And I've never played the game. I'm actually playing through Trigger for the first time, that way I can go into Cross understanding all of the backstory. And I am having an absolute BLAST with Trigger. All of the characters are incredibly memorable, I love the visuals, and the battle system is absolutely boss. I'm actually starting to see why so many people say they had high expectations for Cross, but I'll have to see for myself :)
snaredrums123 5 months ago
@snaredrums123 I was in the EXACT same position as you! Thankfully, I have beaten both games and I am proud to say I own Chrono Cross. Chrono Trigger and Cross are probably in my Top 5 of favourite games of all time!
However, I have one thing to tell you. Go into Chrono Cross without the intention of playing a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger. It is NOT a direct sequel to Trigger. It just happens to be in the same world, so there are references. Also, be really patient with Chrono Cross.
FuzWuz 5 months ago
@snaredrums123 I'm half in your position right now - I haven't played Chrono Cross, but I did beat Trigger literally about a week ago. I plan to try out Cross sometime soon, even if just to experience the source game of this absolutely magical soundtrack.
