I did most of my growing up in St. Louis and was there when this storm hit the area. I remember it like it was yesterday. I ran to the basement and didn't go back upstairs for an hour. The power went out for a few days and we ended up touring the entire State of Missouri while we waited for word that it was safe to go back home.
Being in 5-6th grade at the time, I couldn't control myself during storms like that, prolly since we lice right by a siren. They went off when the sky was orange like at the end, but much more defined. 10th grade is where I really start loving this stuff:-D
I was at my sisters softball game. And one of the girls mom got a call saying that the wind it terrible and we looked at the sky and it was getting dar. Then the wind strated blowing so hard.I was freaked out.
That storm took our power, well the second one that came through on Friday morning did. The first storm did some real damage. It knocked over some trees and took down power lines. The second storm that came through on friday morning kncoked out our power and it stayed out till saturday morning. Due to the fact that I live on a busy street that turns into a highway the further out west you go; the traffic lights were out as well. It caused chaos and we witness at lease 8 car accidents.
I flew into st louis that day.. it's crazy i found this vid.. because that was the only day ive ever been there.. got to see it from above in the plane when we left! it was very pretty..
i live in edwardsville,il whick is 20 miles east of st louis and we lost power for 3 days! southwestern power copany is really bad! we loose power 4 no reason sometimes!:-)
I live about 75 miles north of St. Louis and I remember that day well. We got one huge storm and then I watched it as it started moving south and southwest...just like it had eyes. We didn't get as much damage up here, you guys in the Metro got slammed.
woweee..pretty nice Tstorm near the famous Gateway Arch you videoed!!! BTW... on 7/19/06 until 3am..I got thru videotpaing some 4 hours of nice lightning with good thunder here in southern RI..((which began 1030pm 7/18/06....))--wish I could put THAT onto Youtube.....!!!
i was looking out the window and i saw a blue flash and a freakin loud electrical crackle and I went outside to see what happened and like two trees fell on my electric line so we went to my friends house across the street and when i looked out the window there was crap flying down the street then lol my friends garbage can flew down the street Then the wind died down then it picked up like 50 mph faster and knocked a cooler filled with water not water bottles
I remember that storm like it was yesterday. We were standing outside at the time and all of a sudden we hear what sounded like a train and after that we took of to the basement.
I think that is a bit of an understatement. Looks like maybe sustained 40mph with gusts over 50mph - enough to do light damage - the old branch on the back windshield trick.
Yea i was at work when this hit so it was scary, and I live right next to Jefferson Barracks where the tornado touched down so it was alot of fun, heh heh...
Its happening tonight and its gonna be one severe storm

These St. Louis storms don't play.
It feels as if we get mini hurricanes even though we are in the middle of the damn country.

Nice storm! Strongest winds here were probably only 30-35 mph though. Nice lightning at the end.

This was kind of compared to like what happened to Durial321 on Runescape on 6-6-06. But I was in this storm too, it was a major incident.

This storm also was real, as opposed to a video game event.
