I bought a Larivee 3 yrs ago, just brilliant. Of course it gets better with age. It is probably the best mid priced guitar around. I tested a few including Maton (Australian guitar) Seagul, Takamine etc...
i just test played this awesome guitar this afternoon, and i fell inlove with it!!! i'm saving my money to own the DO3E soon!!!! solid woods, lovely neck, freakin' awesome sound, greatest feeling!!!!! ;) can't wait~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have and L-10 custom that I bought from Wildwood Music in OH about 11-12 yrs ago. compliments my HD-28 well. I like the Martin for songs that require a more vintage or bluesy sound and the Larrivee for more contemporary sound. IMO the Larrivee is braced a little stronger, hence a "tighter" sound and less sustain.
Larrivee offered better woods/trim for the money at the time I bought it than other large manufacturers. After that it's just the tone/ playability that suits your style.
I have a Larrivee LV-03E.Just a fantastic guitar.
