There are actually 4 types of walnuts Hartley, frankets, black and chandlers. and even if they say they are organic they have most likely been treated with a chemical (sry i grew up on a walnut orchard)

Actually it is the mic's fault. It just has a very low SPL threshhold (sound pressure level). The key to getting a mic that you don't distort is to get one with a high SPL threshold. There aren't a lot, but there are some. It's also better to go with a Tube since the distortion on a Tub mic sounds OK. But yeah, it sort of is the mics fault cuz most mics can't handle singers with wide dynamic range like Lisa has.

Lisa, you will want something that can handle really high Sound Pressure Levels so u don't distort. I had a terrible time finding one for years, but finally found the Audio Technica 4060 (it is a Cardioid Condenser Tube Microphone). It's great! Also, your Mic preamplifier plays a big role in the sound chain. I love the Avalon M5 Mic Pre, it's great. Nice, warm clean sound. If you want any tips email me and I'll send u info.
