  • Hey, Jason, I'm loving all your vids, advice, hints, tips and above all human kindness, generosity of spirit and wonderful musicianship. I look forward to seeing you live in the UK hopefully very soon. You have earned unconditional love and support from your fans for being who you are. Thanks again,

  • Hey Jason, Its there a cheaper alternative for the Kinder Anti-Feedback?

  • Thanks for all of the videos. You make playing seem so effortlessly, but this video takes the cake. Awesome sounds from the pedals....can't believe how much the sound coming through the Pog//Mind bender Chorus/Envelope filter sounds like a pipe organ! Question, I have been trying to find something that make the harmonica sound like a sax, or even a horn any suggestions?

  • Jason! I am happy you are doing your thing again in New Orleans. I want more vids of you! Can't wait for you to perform in Europe again. Thanks for your inspiration.

    Question:

What song do you start playing at 9:25? I really want to learn how to play that tune. I also think I've heard you do it live.... Please let me know, I'm dying to learn it!

  • man i love that playing on your harmonica sound nice

  • the POG and Mind Bender Combo was a ruthless ass sound man really enjoyed it!!

  • jason u look like ur haveing tons of fun filming these videos

  • Is the bbe delay better then the lone wolf delay

  • Jason,

Quick question, I picked up a bbe mind bender vibrato/chorus pedal. when I turn it on it cut out quite a when I play through it. Doesn't matter what position i put it in. Only does it when I play harp. I tried it with guitar and it worked fine. Any suggestions? Bruce

  • i have gear harp gear small amps

    and stuff

    i got the gold

    pa

  • hello jason!!!

my name is marko balland,I find your video very interesting

where can i find custom harmonicas reynold and ricci 's contact!!!

    amicably

    marko

  • Jason saw you at Boulder Station on july 30 you just blew everyone there away awesome Harp, player you are & your guitarist you better hold on to that guy and the Bass player. Me being an ex-drummer I really love him too. But don't let your guitarist leave your band, it would be a shame if he left the band later down the road

  • Hey Jason,

Thanks so much for all you add to the harp community and to expand the repertoire of harp music. Quick question. I want to buy a delay for my first pedal. Suggestions?

  • The BBE Two Timer is cheap, Tough and great and has a setting for two delays! The MXR is very warm accurate and small, Red Witch will be coming out with and new Delay soon that features THREE delay settings in one and will probably like thier other effects rule, plus you will be able to run specific effects into all three delays seperatly! But that pedal will cost a lot.

  • There is always the Boss DM-2 if you can find one used but they are also expensive and I think other delays are catching up to that one if surpassing it in other areas as well.

  • Thanks my friend. Some further questions for you. The Carbon Copy offers up to a 600 ms delay, while the Two timer only offers 330. Is the extra delay not needed. The two timer is way cheaper on ebay, indicating to me that it is not as desirable. What does the double function do for you? I know this may be a politically loaded question for you, but which would you get?

I want to tell you how much I admire how you present yourself as a man of integrity in all your dealings.

  • Ok Politics aside...I do actually prefer the sound of the carbon copy type of delay over the two timer, however having the two seperate preset delays is a VERY cool feature. The two timer for blues fans is probably a more familar sounding delay as it is very echoplex like. The C.C. is a warmer more modern sounding analog delay. I never set delays as nearly as far as they go so the longer delay settings of the CC are of no intrest to me.

  • G'day Jason, I,ve been looking at these BBE pedals! I wonder if you have looked at the Acoustic Maximiser. I'm thinking that with a hot mic like a CR element Mic it might replace some of your pedals including the AFB. It has a preamp, a EQ, a Notch filter, Sonic Maximiser, and Impedence matching all in One. I havent been able to try one yet. What you think?

  • I do have one of those and use it my "euro/travel" (smaller) board for dialing in strange backline amps...it acts as a great pre amp and equalizer but dosen't reduce feed back at all...it has a sonic maximizer built into it but I run it first so I still use one at the end of the chain...It's a great tool.

  • Thanx. Chris Canning

  • Hey Jason, been watching your videos for about 3 hours, love them thanks for sharing, I'm inspired!!

I'm not really a harp player, got some gear but I have been having feedback issues playing through a wood mic and a blues junior and a bassman reissue...the Kinder Anti feed Back Box looks interesting ;)

Thanks for sharing this valuable info You Rock Dude

  • The Kinder Box will fix your feed back probs...I pay FULL price for them no endorsement at all. Love John and his boxes/work.

    J

  • Jason, great stuff.

Do you notice much difference between the Electro Harmonics Micro Pog and the Boss Harmonist that you talked about in your other gear video? Also, for anti-feedback.. are there any other (and hopefully less-expensive) pedals that you'd recommend besides the Kinder, or is the Kinder pretty much the only way to go?

  • Yeah man...Good question The Pog is a lot better for chords and about the same price and single notes are as good or better...I have felt though that the Pog could use an additional Volume knob with the: dry, Low and High knobs as in some positions/settings the Pog seems to lose volume when engaged forcing the user to either turn up or change the settings...That is not an issue with the Boss Harmonist or Pitch shifter series. On the Kinder...sorry it's the king and I'm not endorsed or anything.

  • Cool thanks much - can't wait to try the Pog. btw, I love your new album.

  • I picked up the BBE Two Timer...got a Sonic Stomp on loan. The Two Timer totally rocks. I think I'll pass on the Stomp and look for the Opto Stomp. Your rig rules!!!!!

I am running the Kinder, a DLS Rotosim, the Two Timer, and a Verbzilla set on Octo. You'd dig that effect. Love and Respect!

  • Aint that some shit

  • .. muy bueno lo que haces con tus armonicas... yo tambien toco... un abrazo.. segui asi ...

  • I'm so lazy, and such a poseur. I just got the mind bender and the two-timer. I can't stop copying your gear. I got the george l's too.

  • Thanks again for sharing Jason. A couple of questons: what woud you describe as being your "organic" rig? That is what do you consider to be the core components?. Second, are you abandoning the Boss pedals in favor of BBE? Third, how do yo like the Maxon? Lastly, how critical do you consider the wireless as a part of your sound? Thanks again, and PLEASE come back to Cleveland ASAP!

  • 1.) The organic rig for me or my default, non effect sound is: The wireless, the kinder AFB, the BBE OPTO STOMP.

2.) Definitly abandoning the Boss pedals...BBE is better.

    3.) Love the Maxon!

4.) Wirelless is a huge part of my sound as it acts like a pre amp... When I play without it (With a Chord) I actually use a pre amp in it's place.

    6.) See u in Cleveland!

  • I see your using a Samson AX1 transmitter, what are you using for the receiver?

  • The one it came with....think its called an airline 77....although I know there are a few samson receivers called that and they all are a little different...Mine is the real small receiver with one antenna

  • do you mean different sounding?

  • maybe just a hair...Haven't done a back to back with two but they are mostly just differant looking and operate differantly.

  • Damn. I've always wish I could sound like you.

  • I sent BBE an email, asking if I could use the power supply in my pedal board (100mA). The supplied power supply was rated at 200mA. I was afraid I'd be under-powering it. They got back to me in a day or so, letting me know that the 100mA supply would work great. It's really a great company.

  • I'm so glad to hear that-that side of their business is great too Dan! Thanks for sharing that here for everyone...

    J

  • lol loved the ending that was a great demonstration i know some of what i need now.:)

  • Meow

  • Hey I just decided a few days ago to teach myself how to play the harmonica...when I was about 10(8 years ago) my dad bought my a hohner bluesband harmonica i'm assuming in C.

What do you suggest I do to start with?

I have just been trying to teach myself single notes at a time.

  • Thats a great start...Nect look up how to bend those single notes...

    J

  • Jason why the opto compressor and not their other compressor , vintage style"Orange squash"?Did you tried the other one?

  • The Opto just sounded so sweet right out of the box like my old OC 2 except WAY cleaner...I don't know what the orange crush is like...I'm sure it's great...I tried the Keely Compressor first and didn't like it much for harp...The Opto Stomp is a very light and sensitive pedal...I'd like to try the other...let me know if you do please!

    Thanks

    J

  • Cool gear and nice video editing job. Those BBE pedals look like the real deal. Harpgear is the way to go too :)

I like this new chorus sound. Very clear sounding but in a good way . Thanks for sharing !

  • Boy, I have a lot to learn about playing the harp! I thought you could just get special effects from using different amps and mics. I still have a a lot to learn about playing the harp.ha ha. Your da man!!... Don't ever stop playing!!

  • Thats really awesome! How much did you spend on everything?

  • I get a price break on many of the things (Pedal Board/Harp Gear/ BBE products) but here is the basic retail break down:

    1.) Samson wireless: 175.00 ebay

    2.) Kinder AFB Box: 350.00

    3.) BBE Opto Stomp: 99.00

  • 4.) Micro Pog: 200.05.) BBE Chorus: 79.00

    6.) Maxon AF 9: 150.00 used ebay

7.) Boss DM2 Delay 75.00 dollars used (ten Years ago.)

    8.) BBE Two Timer 150.00ish

    9.) Sonic Stomp 99.00

  • Glad to see that you work so hard while your fox is out making the dough. That slow blues you did at 6:07 could use a few less notes ;-)

  • Yes! Perhaps you could get sponsored by Campbells soup! Jason Ricci signature chicken noodle soup! Just kidding, wished to hell I could "noodle" like that.

  • I agree Brady....too much tounge

    ;)

    bf

  • A mix of great tools with great skills , it looked like you worked the camera too, and did some video editing :p .
