  • all i have to say is wow.... you guys are funny. i started my days as a ld9 motor guy with the j body, went to honda for a bit between 2nd gen integra and 3 gen, loved the b16, just a solid motor, moved onto dsm, ran 2nd gens for years, now im onthe 1.8t euro build. not gonna lie, my 04 gti is my car iv owned, people hate on the 1.8t all the time, drop a couple dollars into it and the power to weight ratio rediculous. i did full brake/ suspension/ apr stage 3 kit, little fuckers fast as shit

  • @flurry, Volkswagen's are complete garbage. They try to compensate lack of engineering by shoving boost down its throat. You say the Honda isn't shit without the"$3,000" swap? First off, clearly your a Volkswagen guy and your use to paying way to much for parts. I'm sorry, but a b16 complete swap is less than $2,000. And they're so easy to work on, anyone with basic mechanical knowledge can do it in their garage in an afternoon. take away the 14 psi from the Volkswagen and see how it does.

It also seems as though your only argument about VW's is that our parts are expensive? Listen here friend, Id rather push my VW home than drive a Honda. The car since is now an additional 150whp and 130ftlbs. And you would rather push your vw home than drive a Honda home? What a coincidence because

  • @te37drift Do you really think that 80 MPH jump in 10 seconds is fast? I do 140 in 3rd gear with an older car than you have. My 91 is plenty quick. It's hilarious you think we are trying to take part in "your world". Keep doing like everyone else does and swap your k20's and b16's in your little bubble backs. Just remember one thing, take the money you put into your swapped car and put it right back into the VW and it will be ahead once again.

We have a bigger and better scene. Our cars are faster and look much better than the piece of shit hondas that you guys drive. We dont try to "race" everyone on the street because we have a big exhaust on our cars. Always remember our cars are better and faster. As I said before, my cars are plenty fast and I know what I have.

Looked very very slow to me. I respect some Hondas, but I will not respect someone who just does a b16 swap in their bubbleback and thinks that their car is the fastest in the world. Like I said, my cars are plenty fast and have beaten many Honda fanboys. Im not saying I can beat everyone, but I know what I have beat already

    The Honda already swapped a WHOLE ENGINE worth $3,000 + labor!

    Even then, with a guzzling, noisy and peaky "hardcore" Honda Type R engine, at most can barely match the non-chipped GTI horsepower with 15 lb-ft LESS torque.

    Since 1976, the GTI has always been the king of the hot hatches!

  • @knowshondas yes I've drivin many cars with a b16a2 like the guy in the vid. As long you hit 3rd gear perfectly, not hitting rev limiter or not too under the redline which is 8300rpm and quickly rip it into 3rd..thats it !your pulling ahead.The b16 tranny has a very short gear that makes up for its lack of torq that will quickly put you in the powerband where the b16 its most deadliest at.Its a shame to see a guy with a nice swap and can't even properly go through the gears.

  • @jeffs789 in this situation no, b16 has no torq to make up for the time lost in acceleration from slow and bad shifting. Guy with the b16 is relying mostly on mid-high reving to get power to keep the car moving AKA Horsepower. If u disrupt the power that keeps that car moving at a constant rate IE-bad shifting then u will lose no matter what.That is why the b16 comes with a short geared tranny to compensate for torq, which shoots u quickly into ur powerband around 5500k to 8300k

I just sort of feel like Honda civics were not designed to be race cars and maybe any four banger will never be anything more than an econobox. Im not trying to be rude but just speaking the truth. I have a VW and would i would say the same thing about my car.

  • @jeffs789 Civics were never design to be a drag racer of course. They were design to be economy shit box that can do 30+ mpg which is very important now days. Now if you want to talk about real racing which is racing in circuits and such, then we can talk about the Type R version of the civic with a b16b motor outputting 170+ hp from a such small displacement.I use to own VW and yes I know the whole history and the way they were engineered. Truly amazing machine.

Every subsequent gear the VW continues to pull on him, were they equal or the honda was faster the VW would not have been walking away from him. I actually researched most of that info about 4 years ago before I bought me AWP 1.8T. You and probably 6 other people call the AWW the 1st gen 1.8t. You also called the civic a crx. And I'll go ahead an call BS on you owning a 1.8T.

  • @IIXUntamedXII That's not entirely correct... It doesn't "detect strain on the turbo..."

    VW is smarter than toyota, so if it detects the brakes are applied while there is throttle input, it cuts off the throttle input. To prove this, give it throttle and use your handbrake to drag the car down... (Not too long, you've glaze the rear pads or put flat spots the tires)

  • @knowshondas He didn't miss a shift, he bounced it off the rev limiter like most of the honda racing tools do. That 12" tach and shift light is only for looks. Also, the reason he got a jump on the start is because the honda is naturally aspirated. A turbo charged car needs to spool up first, and if he is lifting off the throttle in between shifts, he needs to start spooling again after each shift.

  • @ronh129 I don't need any lessons on turbos, thanks. I drive truck for a living and have been running / working on turbos larger than you head. EVERY turbo needs to spool up, so thanks for pointing out the obvious :)

    The 1.8T turbos on the GOLF, AUDI, ETC. are so small they need almost no time to spool up, so no excuse on why he needed a jump.

    My point is the HONDA is faster - without mis shifting OR bouncing off the rev limiter, he would have pulled even further ahead!

It is actually closer to vacuum, since on this VW the electronics keeps the wastegate open, and closes it on demand. Have you owned a 1.8T? because I have, and with a stock downpipe, they quite a significant spool time. N/A cars will ALWAYS take the hit since they don't have to BUILD BOOST in a low compression engine. (IE turbo lag). I'm a CAT certified tech, I've worked on turbos bigger than honda engines. GFY.

The stock downpipe (the exhaust part coming off the turbo [just explaining because you're an idiot]) is 55mm and in pretty much an S bend. That creates quite a lot of turbo lag, even for the small turbo. And once again, a naturally aspirated car will ALWAYS hit MUCH harder from a roll... (PS: 55mm < 2.25")

You also show you're stupid and know know hondas, since thats not a CRX, its an EG hatchback. And I did address your "first Gen" part, but you are showing your ignorance there because it wasn't a "generation" of an engine. Only difference was the turbo and tuning. And you already proved you know nothing about the difference, or how building boost works. Now go install a VTEC light or something. Or a 3rd tachometer.

I owned the 02' Golf 1.8T and driven my friends 05' Golf 1.8T and can tell you it spools just as quick as mine did. And by the way, myself and others call the 150hp engine the 1st gen 1.8T :)

  • @knowshondas Unless you are refering to the AWW or AWV (150hp) vs AWP (180HP) engine codes, where the AWW and AWV had the K03 turbos vs the AWP K03s turbo.... then the turbo you had had a smaller hot side and ran less boost, so duh you would spool faster. Still doesn't take away from the fact that this VW was having to spool up for power both at the launch (BIG disadvantage), as well as in between every shift.

    where as Vw chose to just use a turbo (forced induction...more air being pushed through equals more power) so you see, the honda has its little way of making power and so does the Vw.
