  • When I saw this video I decided to buy a blendtec. It's a good blender if you use liquid always you still need a plunger even though blendtec says you don't when making ice cream and nut butters you have to stop the blender and push everything down. So I went to Costco bought the vitamix tried it out and loved it I was able to make ice cream with just frozen strawberries and bananas no liquid. Also you can not walk away from the blendtec it jumps when you put hard frozen food. Vitamix is better

  • what about other things Vitamix does other than just veggie & fruit smoothies?

  • One horsepower for rating electric motors is equal to 746 watts.

Blendtec total blender has 1560 watts.

If it was 3 horsepower it would have 2238+ watts.

  • What is the name (the one in the middle) called and how much is it?

  • I wish I had seen this video BEFORE I bought my $450 Vitamix. :(

  • vitamix is such crap, why do people put up with it/?? lol sell it and buy a blendtec :)

  • You know those blenders are all self cleaning right?

  • What a great example of a completely biased demonstration. The only thing he had to say bad about the vitamix blade and container is that is was too "tight at the bottom". Since I'm sure that Blendtec designed their whole container so that it was easy to get sticky stuff out of the bottom...and not to blend things. I've personally heard dozens of first hand testimonies from Blendtec users and most of them were quite disappointed, and ended up returning it and getting a Vitamix.

  • which one has been known to last decades.....

  • >>>>>>>I was told that the Blendtec Blender with 4 blades and the wider "craft" does not make good smoothies. It has a hard time blending frozen fruit compared to the Vitamix which does it perfectly. It would be nice to see a video blending frozen fruit!!!!!!<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< :)

  • Good information, I go for the Vitamix anyways! -only because you can change the bearing on the carrafe. -less parts in the machine.

    -excellent warranty. Vitamix Rocks!

  • Blendtec vs Vitamix

blendtec is 3 lbs lighter, has 3 hp compared to 2 hp vitamix, does dry ingredients in the same container (grains/rice to flour, grinds coffee, etc), the 4 inch blade model holds more capacity and does not need a tamper, and it is lower in cost.

Case closed blendtec is better then vitamix and that's why vitamix tried to copy blendtec's technology and got sued and lost.

  • Use the coupon code 'rawfood10' to get to get a minimum of $43 off the lowest priced blendtec at The Raw Food World.com

  • A couple caveats on these results: Matt, using the HP3A, uses the Speed Up control on his Blendtec to go to the High setting - a recommended method. Angela waits 12 seconds on the apples and 22 seconds on the salad before utilizing the High speed on the Vitamix. Tipper does her blending on both the apples and salad with the Pulse button. The ladies' aren't "wrong" but there are more effective ways for them to do this specific blending task, thus effecting results in favor of Matt's blender/jar.

  • @blenderdudeTV, It wasn't long enough to make any difference before Angela utilized the high speed, which is a kinard anyway. Simply acknowledge how much faster the Blendtec blended in both tests. It wouldn't make much difference exactly when Angela hit HS. Everyone can question her timing, but the Blendtec's superior performance results are not questionable. Matt could have turned off the Blendtec about 50% in the cycle, as it was already smoothly blended. Blendtec wins... Game over!!

  • @blenderdudeTV Didn't you also say not to run all the blenders on at once from the same plug?

  • Comment removed

  • Vitamix also has a 4.2 HP blender, the Vitamix XL. It's over $1000 US though... over $4000 in Australia.

  • LOL...What a moron. First of all... try using the Vitamix properly. You didn't even turn it to high speed until way late. I use to have a Blendtec but brought it back to Costco and returned it for a Vitamix. The few things they demonstrate they didn't need a tamper, but when you bring it home and try to use it, you have to shake it or use a wooden spoon to mix it. I read the warranty also and found that the VM is completely covered while the Blendtec is not. Also look at consumer guide...VM #1.

  • @chtterbxer, You don't know what you are talking about. She used the VM properly. If you simply blast the VM on high too quickly, it will launch the food higher, making it even harder and time consuming to blend the ingredients properly. As for wrnty, with the VM, you get to replace expensive blades / gaskets that cost the same as entirely new Blentec jar, while the warranty on the Blendtec blade / coupling is a lifetime warranty. Shaking the Blendtec jar proves you are using it incorrectly.

  • @PE425 First off "it will launch the food higher, making it even harder and time consuming to blend the ingredients properly." That's what the tamper is for and it takes a lot less time to use it than it does to chop everything in to little pieces for the Blendtec. Second of all "with the VM, you get to replace expensive blades / gaskets that cost the same as entirely new Blentec jar," The Blendtec blades cannot be replaced, you have to get a whole new container.

  • @MaryKays1, the Blendtec on the othr hand, does NOT need a tamper. With a VM, you have no choice to "like" a tamper. You are forced to like it, so saying you like a tamper is nothing more than an indefensible rationalization.

  • Vita-Mix does have a 3hp blender, just like the Blendtec...It's called the Vita-Prep. and what I like about it is that it DOES have a tamper (pusher) that Blendtec does not have. Thanks for posting this. You should all be wearing hearing protectors. I always do when I'm only using one blender!

  • Vita-Mix does have a 3hp blender, just like the Blendtec...It's called the Vita-Prep. and what I like about it is that it DOES have a tamper (pusher) that Blendtec does not have. Thanks for posting this.

  • Sideshow Bob!!!

  • The blender in the middle, can you please tell me which model is?

is it Blendtec Total Blender FourSide ?

    Txn (:

  • Soooo? you can buy those $400 machines but can't buy three spoons? Whaaaa Sup?

  • hey guys! !!1 great show!!! I wish i had watch this before i bought my Vita mix!! lol is still a great blender!1 just not the best!! specially on the BPA 3 fact! !!

  • hey guys! !!1 great show!!! I wish i had watch this before i bought my Vita mix!! lol is still a great blender!1 just not the best!! specially on the BPA 3 fact! !!

  • @abettersouthworld Vitamix doesn't have BPA in it anymore

  • hey guys! !!1 great show!!! I wish i had watch this before i bought my Vita mix!! lol is still a great blender!1 just not the best!! specially on the BPA 3 fact! !!

  • My question is why are they not using the automatic buttons on the Total blenders? They have a whole fruit button and a blended smoothie or soup button too. Don't see why they are holding the speed up or pulse buttons. Thats what makes the Total blender different. It is automatic.

  • Great demo. Thanks!

  • @TheRawFoodWorld Mark, well, perhaps, someone should let Vitamix aware of this video. Why would you let anybody promote your product with that kind of attitude? It is extremely disrespectful.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, If anything is disrespectful, it is blind VM followers like yourself that attempt to discredit one of the most objective video demos comparing VM and Blendtec side by side. If you think the video was biased, then by all means, enlighten everyone here and either create an objective performance comparison video that shows VM outperforming Blendtec, or tell us where we can find one, and I will gladly concede. However, we both know you can't. Blendtec runs circles around VM!

  • @PE425 Ge a real Job!!!

  • @TheJacqueline3333, "Ge a real Job"?? Wow, that is brilliant. I have one, and thankfully don't need another one right now, but thanks for the encouragement. In the meantime, everyone will be waiting to see a video demo that discredits this one and shows VM outperforming a Blendtec. Perhaps it will be possible after VM tries to steal Blendtec's patents again, but even then, it isn't likely. VM has not been able to innovate fast enough to even keep up with Blendtec.

  • @PE425 fine then get life!!!

  • @PE425 Oh!!! And your right, I don't have a job. You're talking to a retired person.

  • @PE425 Wow you truely amuse me! you are discrediting " yourself".... End Of!!! xxx

  • Comment removed

  • @PE425 All I said is that the person in the video is clearly not using the Vitamix correctly. Why don’t you educate your staff and yourself with the correct procedures on how to correctly use the Vitamix that is all. Why don't you check your own facts???

  • Comment removed

  • @GrooveWorshipper You said it all!!! Furthermore, you know what they say about Bullies, you don't back down from them, just let them rant until they tire. Normaly I would just leave it alone, but, I couldn't believe the disrespect PE425 has been to several ppl. @PE425 You may want to consider anger management!!!

  • @TheJacqueline3333, Everyone can see that I am not the one with the anger problem. I point out the facts about the VM and Blendtec blenders, but for some reason, you can't handle it.

  • @GrooveWorshipper, Yes your comments are laughable. Did you ever bother checking RFW's website to see that they actually sell VM as well? No, of course not. You were too busy trying discredit the facts, and obviously was very desperate to do so. The only thing that is evangelical are the VM sheeple that stay in indefensible positions and deliberately state nonsense about these two blenders. If you knew anything about the Blendtec, you would know that it doesn't need a tamper.

  • @PE425 @PE425 You are the liar... I did not delete any post, and if I did it was a duplicate, I'm new to these post. Also, you have called me a liar - I don't know what I'm talking about – You say I pathetically discredited you – you also went as far as to tell me I’m malpractice, etc. etc. etc… What the hell!!!

  • @OE425 for your information, I "never once" mentioned RawWorld. Perhaps, if you wouldn't be so busy putting ppls opinions down, and defending your own, you would have read the correct facts. I'm just saying!!!

  • @TheJacqueline3333, I am not going to go easy on you after you lied about RawFoodWorld, when you stated that this RFW video was somehow biased because they only sell Blendtec. Why would you blatently fabricate a lie like this, especially when your statement can so easily be vetted out by anyone checking RFW's website to see that they sell VitaMix right along side Blendtec? Did you really think no one was going to fact check?

  • @TheJacqueline3333, After you got busted, you removed that post, but didn't apologize for lying, or at least admit you formed an opinion without checking facts. Now you want to play victim and suggest I am a bully and my posts are spam because I pointed out why your statements are false? I encouraged you to present any facts that support any of your statements, but instead you want your dishonest opinions to stick, unabated and unchallenged. Sorry, no chance.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, Opinions do not replace facts, and especially when such opinions are willfully dishonest, and proven to be wrong, people are going to fact check and call you out on them. Then, when you pathetically try to discredit me by stating I must work for Blendtec (since I have pointed out numerous facts that don't agree with your position), you continue to dig yourself a deeper hole.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, Most VM users have been unaware of Blendtec, or have a VM from years ago. Some are happy with their VM, but when they witness the Blendtec running circles around VM, many get all upset and try to justify their VM with clueless or blatantly false statements in order to feel better about their position, and in your malpractice, willfully attempt to call out the facts as spam. Angela is clearly using the VM properly. If she started it higher, it would have taken even longer.

  • BTW, as of two weeks ago. Blendtec is now offering a 7 warranty on both the blender and carafe to people living in North America! It's on their site. I'm sure this warranty will be available for purchases from 3rd party dealers as well.

  • @sashmuscle, Yes, and they have offered other purchase / warranty promo's before. To be fair, VitaMix has offered similar promo's at Costco. However, Blendtec is the only one that has ever offered an 8yr warranty on their blender, and a LIFETIME warranty on their blade / coupling assembly (the part that receives the most wear and tear). What VM'ers don't tell you is that VM's extended warranty comes at an EXTRA price (nice gimmick BTW), whereas Blendtec's warranty comes at no extra charge.

  • @PE425... Clearly!!!! You must be getting a pay cheque from Blendtec.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, I will take what you say as a compliment, as it is a testiment to my knowledge on this subject, specifically between Blendtec and VitaMix. However, I must break it to you, that I have NEVER worked for Blendtec, or a business that sells ANY blenders of any kind. I am simply a Blendtec user that researched both of the blenders quite extensively BEFORE ever buying one! Nice try, though!

  • You obviously are promoting the Blendtec, as you clearly are using the highest speed on the Blendtec, and not using the Vitamix correctly, the person using it, intentionally makes it look hard to use and only uses the high speed after 23 seconds. I've had the Vitamix for some time now, and love it.. Also, the Blentec DOES NEED A PLUNGER...despite what you say, it needs one.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, However, since you know more about it the subject than I (or even the VM folks for that matter), then why don't you either create or point us to ONE SINGLE video of a side by side performance comparison between the VM and and a Blendtec that shows the VM outperforming the Blendtec? The reason is because you CAN'T, and everyone that has done enough research on these two blenders know you full of it! Also, the plunger is NOT needed. Sorry to burst your bubble.

  • @TheJacqueline3333, You don't know what you are talking about. First of all, the Blendtec starts out slow, then speeds up, even on auto cycles. The same applies to VM if you are using it properly. If you start the VM on high, it will shoot the contents up, making it harder and taking it longer amount of time for the contents to spend enough time in the blades to blend and incorporate properly. If the VM were started out on high like you suggest, it would take EVEN LONGER to blend.

  • hi, have you ever done or heared about a comparison vitamix vs. vitality4life?

(37.000 upm vs. 30.000 upm?) what were the results? cheers

  • Vitamix 7 year warranty, does blendtec even come close?

  • @bluesdog88, No, Blendtec does not come close. Blendtec SURPASSES VM's warranty. If you want an extended warranty with VM, it comes at an extra price. Blendtec offers the same base warranty as VM, without any extra price. Moreover, Blendtec also offers a LIFETIME warranty on the blade / coupling assembly, whereas VM does not offer a lifetime warranty on anything. Besides, the performance and durability tests of the Blendtec speaks for itself!

  • @PE425 I have only seen a 12 month warranty, It might be different in the US though, happy with my vitamix, who needs blender envy they're both good

  • @bluesdog88, I would be very suspicious of anyone selling Blendtec with only a 12 month warranty, and would avoid them. There are much better offerings through Costco road shows or directly from Blendtec. Glad you are satisfied with your VM.

  • You guys are awesome, but I think the Vitamix would have done so much better if it had been used as recommended: Switch on low speed and increase speed dial from minimum to maximum over 4 to 5 seconds, then switch the high speed button and remove the tamper.

  • I went with the Blendtec with the large carafe based off of this review.

A few months later, I bought my mom a Vitamix.

My Blendtec is used daily, mostly to make superfood smoothies with raw fruits and greens.

In short, I like the Vitamix better. It has simple analog controls which are easier to use and that will probably hold up better.

They both blend more than adequately.

But the Blendtec does not have a plunger and despite what people say, it needs one.

  • @GrooveWorshipper, For what most people blend, I agree that both blenders are more than adequate. However, the Blendtec blends much faster, easier, doesn't need as much babysitting, and is much easier to clean than the VM. What specific blending scenario in a Blendtec needs a tamper? If you cannot at least provide some examples, of where the Blendtec needs a tamper, then people that actually own and use Blendtec are going to dismiss your dubious statements as pure nonsense.

  • @PE425 Specific examples of the Blendtec needing a tamper include:

    1. Thick smoothies with frozen berries; the blade pushes the berries up and creates an air pocket, spinning freely and blending nothing until you stop the blender and tap the side or insert a spoon to release the air pocket

    2. When blending smoothies with dried Golden berries or chunks of coconut oil (kept in fridge) they end up floating above the blades and never blending while the rest of the mix gets overly blended and heated

  • @GrooveWorshipper, That is so laughable! Sorry, but you are talking out of your ass! The Blendtec handles frozen berries with incredible ease. Also, the Blendtec can easily mix anything without heating up anywhere near as quickly as a VM or any other blender. Try again! Besides, there are countless videos demonstrating a Blendtec can handle frozen berries, and many other more challenging blending scenarios, ALL without a tamper! You are full of shit!

  • @PE425 My point was that the Vitamix controls are simple, analog, easy and intuitive to use. The Blendtec relies upon outdated 1980's era digital Gadgetry to accomplish the same. If you prefer to turn a big fat analog knob to control blade speed than the Vitamix is for you. If you'd prefer to scroll through LCD screens with a non-intuitive interface and use repeated presses of laggy digital buttons to control blade speed you'll prefer the Blendtec. Vitamix is more functional, classic & simple.

  • @GrooveWorshipper, There is nothing outdated about the Blendtec. Ironically, the VM is incredibly antiquated! Their design has changed little over the last several decades, while Blendtec keeps on innovating. Their design is very modern, while VitaMix is stuck in the past. No one wants antiquated control dials (that are harder to clean), as well as babysitting, let alone the manual intervention (read: tamper) for a $500 machine, when you can get a much higher performing blender! Get real!!

  • @GrooveWorshipper FYI check out some of the post

  • blender blades don't go dull, cutting food doesn't dull a blade, the cutting surface does. Let's see you make matcha tea in a blendtech, it's not gentle enough. I bought my vitamix over the blendtech because it was better built and going to last longer. I choose to buy it without the computer programs because although I think those are useful in a caffe where you need to leave it and do other things, I'm a serious chef who never leaves my food alone and needs to be in full control.

  • @AlexusDivine, Most culinary schools have VM because for many years, nothing else came close. Its simply not the case today. Many of them still use them today because they simply don't have the funds nor are going to get paid for switching from VM to Blendtec, so they just use what they have. Subsequently, most chefs are familiar with VM and naturally gravitate toward them. However, as more chefs learn about Blendtec's features and performance, more of them will continue to switch to Blendtec

  • @AlexusDivine, If you are a serious chef, then you would also understand that it is all about having precise control yet having consistent results. You would also understand that real chefs need to be able to multitask very efficiently to stay competitive. Serious chefs have more important things to do instead of standing over each and every blending job, which is another reason why Blendtec is much better suited for the task. You can maintain precise control without babysitting.

  • @AlexusDivine, Blendtec is designed to operate with a dull blade to begin with, which provides huge and distinct advantages over VM. Sorry, you may be a serious about being a chef, but you are not an experienced one yet if you don't understand the basics that all sharp blades become dull over time. If you're a serious chef, then you use your knives alot, and would understand this. Even Woots Damascus or VG-10 (e.g. Shun), which are much more durable than VM blade, also becomes dull over time.

  • @AlexusDivine, You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Even VM company disagrees with you, as they sell replacement blades on their web site for the very reason that they do in fact become dull and need to be replaced to maintain top performance, just like their gaskets. Apparently, I know more about your VM than you do. If VM could perform at its best with a dull blade, then they wouldn't make them with sharp blades. VM depends on sharp blades for best performance.

  • @AlexusDivine, There's just no competition between these 2 blenders. The Blendtec runs circles around VM and wins hands down in performance comparisons. There is nothing snobby about pointing these facts out. Below, I have posted many more facts about why Blendtec is a much better machine than a VM, and it barely scratches the surface.

  • @AlexusDivine, Instead of being concerned with whether or not you think someone is a snob, it is more important to focus on getting the facts and seperating them from all the misinformation coming from blind VM sheeple. Every single VM feature and function in the VM is completely outgunned and outclassed by Blendtec. It's not debatable. It is simply a fact. Even VM admitted this when they tried to copy Blendtec and were found guilty of patent infringement.

  • @AlexusDivine, There is absolutely NOTHING better about the VM. "Operates at a far lower speed"? The Blendtec's top speed is faster than a VM (a good thing), but it can also operate at lower speed as well, so what point are you trying to make? Secondly, you mention that the VM blades are sharp, which is true, but Blendtec has a huge advantage as their blade is specifically designed to work as a dull blade, which means no wear and tear on Blendtec blade.

  • @AlexusDivine, VM depends on a sharp blade, which means that when the blade becomes dull, the performance will also degrade. VM blade assembly is required by FDA law to be removable for thorough cleaning, which means VM depends on a gasket, which also will wear out and start leaking.

  • @AlexusDivine, This is why VM sells replacement blade / gasket assemblies that cost as much as a brand new Blendtec jar. Blendtec's blade / coupling is factory sealed, is much easier to clean than VM, and will last longer. VM followers seem obsessed with warranties, yet deliberately ignore Blendtec Blade / coupling assembly comes with lifetime warranty, which is the part that receives the most stress and abuse. Funny how that works.

  • @AlexusDivine, Also, because the VM blade is sharp, you risk cutting your fingers and damaging expensive spatulas trying to get ingredients out or when trying to clean. Moreover, the narrow VM jar base and unnecessarily intricate shape of VM jar makes it far more difficult to clean than Blendtec jar. Blendtec jar is much easier to pour out contents by offering multiple "corners" to pour from. Also, control panel on Blendtec is flat, making it much easier to clean than a VM.

  • @AlexusDivine, Like VM, Blendtec is also made in USA. Of course, you try to downplay Blendtec's higher HP, but it is pointless for you try that. Although the VM base is larger, the lower-powered VM heats up much faster than a Blendtec, which also means it undergoes more stress than Blendtec motor and will not last as long. Blendtec's much more powerful motor allows to get the job done much faster and with less strain.

  • @AlexusDivine, VM has been making the same old antiquated design for years. VM will not properly fit under most cabinets, and also requires a tamper for most jobs. Also, the manual control knob means you have not only have to manually assist it with a tamper, but you have to baby sit it as well. VM has no automated shutoff when job is complete.

  • The Vitamix is definitely the better machine/product, IMHO. I am waiting for them to come out with a portable battery powered travel sized Vitamix... untill then I am using this under 10 buck Oster blender Turbocharged hack (see videos on ytube).. and createing another hack to connect my Vitamix blade to high speed (vairaiable up to 1400 rpm), high Power (up to 400 pounds of torque) cordless Craftsman Drill/Driver. See videos on my ytube channel.

  • so doesnt the blade from the blendtec blender ever break or get dull or anything?

  • i feel the same as boarderX. just ONE of those blenders is insanely loud. little baby's hearing shouldn't be subjected to one, let alone three.

  • I burnt my blendtec up on cream cheese...

  • going to have to get one of those bigger jugs for my blendtec

  • great video

  • I went to the raw food world website and tried to use the coupon 'raw10' but it is not working...stating: "invalid coupon code"...what am I doing wrong? I'd really like to purchase the blendtec with the 4" blade, and that 10% discount would really help a lot! Please advise!

  • haha blendtec is made in the usa. every piece and part.

  • Only thing holding me back on Blendtec is its 3year guarantee compared to Vitamix's 7 year peace-of-mind guarantee.

Why does Blendtec not match Vitamix's 7 year guarantee?

  • @livingdaylight maybe because blendtec is made in china while vitamix is made in the USA? i'm just sayin....

  • @isaachaze1 Where did you get that idea? Blendtec is manufactured in Utah, USA.

  • @samherb1 my apologies. Someone mentioned it on a thread about vitamix vs. blendtex on the amazon gold box forum boards, and I didnt fact check it (it wasn't challenged on the thread by the blendtec people, so I just assumed it must be true)

  • @samherb1, Isaachaze is a clueless fanboy of VitaMix and has been schooled on YT many times before, especially on comparisons between VitaMix and Blendtec. He knows that Blendtec wins hands down, but already spent money on a VM, so he tries to rationalize it to make himself feel better about his purchasing decisions (e.g. "Blendtec is made in China" BS, etc.)

  • @isaachaze1 I work there. All of our blenders are USA made at our facility in Utah. If you'll point me to the forum thread, I'd be happy to make that correction.

  • @livingdaylight If you buy it at costco they give you a 7 year warranty.

  • U must work for blend tech. I bought the blendtec and returned it for the vita-mix.

#1. The 5200 vitamix does come with a bpa free container.

    # 2 the girl working the Vitamix doesn't know how to use it. Instead of slow waking the middle dial like she did, she should have cranked it straight to 10 then flipped it immediately to high. The vita- mix would have kicked the blendtecs ass.

#3 I love how you didn't bring to attention how the blendtec has to be loaded a special way in order to eve

  • yo matt, you need some whey protein and a few weeks with a kettlebell my friend. the ladies look good...

  • yo matt, you need some whey protein and a few weeks with a kettlebell my friend. the ladies look good.

  • Dislike for subjecting the poor little guy to the extreme loud decibels of these blenders.

  • @BoarderX I was thinking the same thing!

  • @BoarderX that's what I noticed, too. The baby "seems" pretty scared.

  • is she breast feeding still??

  • lmao the blendtec is $600 before tax here. I'm sure it's a great blender but who are they kidding charging that much?

  • , I think there are far more subtle nuances to the quality of engineering then this video really took into consideration. For instance although there is more space around the blendtech blades to swallow larger objects, the vitamix is able to effectly blend much smaller loads, which is more practically useful. The Vitamix has a better motor control, both machine have computer controled brushless induction motor that don't wear out, but the vitamix has infinite control, the blentech has 10 progr

  • I don't think this was a very god camparison, I think there are far more subtle nuances to the quality of engineering then this video really took into consideration. For instance although there is more space around the blendtech blades to swallow larger objects, the vitamix is able to effectly blend much smaller loads, which is more practically useful. The Vitamix has a super motor control, it's not just a dial, it's a infintely adjustable computer controlled induction more

  • @AlexusDivine, It is obvious that you know little about these blenders. You shouldn't talk about things you don't know. The Blendtec is superior to VM in every way. Even for smaller jobs, the larger Blendtec jar (96oz) still runs circles around VM, including VM's commercial models. VM knows this, and tried to copy Blendtec's design but was found guilty of patent infringement to the rate of $33M+. The Blendtec motor is 3HP whereas the VM is 2HP, yet runs much hotter than Blendtec.

  • Great video. I've been looking at both blenders. Thank You.

  • The Vitamix and Blendtec are both great blenders.

  • This comparison was completely bias and the girl had the Vitamix on low almost the entire time. The moment she switched it to high it blew right through the apples.

  • They're both pretty awesome. This is just the BMW vs. Mercedes debate pretty much.

  • @Soldier0117 More like Ferrari vs Lamborghini

  • the young lady running the vitamix doesn't quite know how to use it. She waits until the very end to turn it on high. This would cut the time down quite a bit.

  • How old are each of these blenders?

  • i have a vitamix 5200 and its awesome! i dont know what vitamix he is using.

  • For a minute there I thought they were going to put the baby in the Blendtec and say "Will it blend?"

  • Can't imagine why.. ;-p

  • That baby is SOO Cute.

  • Matt!! haha. it's Ossie Beck. small world.

  • No, Blendtec is known to be louder, and the Vitamix also has a thermal protection (automatic shut off)

  • thanks, good info

  • ty heaps for the comparison..i'm looking for a blender atm..

  • Oh my god! I bought an Ani Phyo book from you guys! Haha I just pulled out some of the samples you guys sent a long with the book last night... weird! Nice to see you guys for real!

  • would the blendtec do nut butters?

  • This was really helpful. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this!

  • I own both machines. I agree, both are great blenders. I choose the Blendtec though because of its size (the first thing that sold me on it), no paddle, ease of use (I've found it so easy to you by comparison to the VM I definitely couldn't switch back now - set and forget... I LOVE that!

Bottom line - both good but BT bit better. Got mine at a local Costco so I had a 90 day easy return if I needed it. Now I'm in love and it's never going back :-)

  • I just ordered a Vitamix 5200. I had heard great things about it... and I am still excited about getting it.

However I was at a Smoothie King last night and asked the woman who makes smoothies all day from the Blentec as well as Vitamix what SHE prefers.. she said the Vitamix.

  • thank you so much for doing this comparison, couldn't find another anywhere

  • So the only difference I am seeing is, say someone wants their smoothie to be a bit more chunky? that would be the VM's doing...but if you always want everything quite smooth, choose the blendtec? Anyways I purchased recently the VM & only saw the *other* blendtec, which I steered clear of. I wanted the prep 3. This blendtec has me srs considering returning my 5200 VM for size & scraping ability, higher pwr, btw it's CHEAPER. & I am in Canada here, so that's a PLUS!!

  • I have the regular blendtec... can I just buy the bigger carafe with the 4" blade?

  • thanks for the vid. i had been wondering about this :)

  • vitamix has been bpa free much longer then blendtech has =/

  • @Dreadwitch, that is true, but Blendtec has BPA free carafes, so the BPA issue is moot. However, it is quite clear that when a Vitamix is compared to a Blendtec, the performance of the Vitamix still SUCKS.

  • i said that because in this vid matt says that he thinks vitamix has bpa but isn't sure... that was more of a correction to miss leading info in this vid. as for suckage... I have a vitamix and it gets the job done. I mean seriously? you can't wait a few seconds longer for your smoothie? but I'd agree the 4 inch blade one seems the best... but i'd still take a pusher over shaking the original blendtech anyday. bpa free blendtechs and 4 inch blades weren't an option when i bought my blender. o_o

  • @Dreadwitch, I totally understand, and no, it isn't like I can't wait an extra few seconds for the VM to get the job done. The real issue is that as a result of it taking longer, is that it oxidizes the food much faster than the Blendtec.

  • @Dreadwitch: Also, because VM has been around longer than Blendtec, most people that wanted the best blender at the time bought a VM and became accustomed to using a plunger, which unless you are doing nut butters or something, a plunger is totally unnecessary with a Blendtec. Even the 2qt Blentec carafe is still much better than the carafe on the VM 5200. Why do we need to manually assist a $400+ VM machine? Moreover, Blendtec has made far more significant advancements than Vitamix.

  • Why wasd the Vitamix started on low while the Blendtec on high? These are FALSE tests. Please retest them all on HIGH from the start.

  • were your video's taken down??I also noticed small edits in this video that weren't always there why did you change it? I remember the chick with the baby shaking the blender with the apples to make it blend. or am I mistaken?

  • DUDEHHH! while blending you could have done a review on hairdryers cause your hair is LIKE awesome!!!!!

  • What about chewing the salad?

  • BEST REVIEW IVE SEEN BY FAR

  • why would you want to blend a salad????

    I don't get that!

can anyone explain that to me??

  • Blending it makes it much easier for the body to assimilate the nutrients. You'd have to chew your salad all day to reach a similar result.

So basically, you get more nutrients out of the veggies and greens.

The other reason would be that some people simply prefer the taste and texture.

  • THANK YOU! BLENDTEC IS AMAZING!

  • I think Vitamix is a wonderful blender. No question. It offers a better warranty than Blendtec and if you prefer variable speed control, the Vitamix offers that. That said, I think the Blendtec HP3A with the 96 ounce carafe is a better value at $365 compared with a Vitamix 5200 at $449. The Blendtec is more powerful, easier to clean, and fits easier under cabinets. Most people will agree on these points even if you don't buy Matt's comparison.

  • @augiebrooks The VM is super easy to clean.

  • @augiebrooks, you are incorrect. The Blendtec currently comes with an EIGHT year warranty, while VM comes with a SEVEN year warranty. While the jar only comes with a 3 year warranty, you get a LIFETIME warranty on the Blendtec blade and rotor assembly. VM doesn't offer such a warranty on anything. The VM is a great blender. However, when it is specifically compared to Blendtec on performance and features, the VM is a sad POS. Vitamix doesn't even come close to Blendtec.

  • @PE425 I went to the site. Which blendtec are you talking about . the owners manual online for the total Blender says , 3yrs motor and 3 carafe for the warranty. Do you have a more recent blender? "WARRANTY DESCRIPTION (US Domestic and Canada)

Your Blendtec Total Blender motor is warranted for 3 years. The jar assembly, including

all moving jar parts, is covered against leaking or breakage for 3 years. "

  • @pazios2002, However, I would not consider a blender on warranty alone. Even if I were only offered a 3yr warranty when I ordered mine, I wouldn't think twice. The Blentec would still essentially be a no-brainer. The Blendtec is still a profoundly better machine than the VM 5200 in performance, features, and even price. When Vitamix is compared to the common blender it's a great blender. When Vitamix is compared to Blendtec, Vitamix is a total joke. Blendtec is in a class all on it's own.

  • @pazios2002, It is very interesting to see that the current posted manual offers a 3yr warranty for the base. When I ordered mine, I thought the warranty I was getting was the new standard, and not part of the promo, so I thought everyone else now gets an 8yr warranty for the base as well. Thank you for pointing that out. Perhaps they may make the 8yr / 80,000 cycle warranty standard in the future.

  • @PE425 VitaMix has an 8 year warranty as well.

  • @pazios2002, I ordered my 2 TotalBlenders and 2 extra 96oz carafes directly from Blendtec (12/27/2009) through a promo, and got an 8yr-80,000 cycle warranty. Of course, that's for the base. The jar still has a 3yr warranty, and the blade / coupling have a LIFETIME warranty. Vitamix doesn't offer a lifetime warranty on anything.

  • vitamix is sh*t

  • No it isnt.

I use one SEVERAL times each day.

  • Tell that to the video hosts.

  • NOT FAIR: you weren't flipping the vita-mix to high until way late in the test while you went straight to high on the blendtec. With the apples test as soon as the vita-mix was flipped to high it mixed much faster. You need to compare by flipping both vita-mix and blendtec to high immediately.

  • I wish you would have done some nut butter test.

  • check out @ 4:08. she only turns the hi-power on the vitamix after the blendtec was done!

  • Don't know what you are looking at. They started around 3:58, not 4:08. She cranked about the same time they started the test. Besides, in the mixed salad test, they started at 6:00 she cranked it, no difference in performance without the tamper. Blendtec 96 oz was the clear winner.

  • @augiebrooks the salad test starts at 5:59 and she doesn't even flip the vita-mix to high until 6:22, meanwhile the blendtec was on high the entire time. Not to mention she actually slows down the vitamix with the variable knob in the middle of the test! The high switch is on the left and must be switched up for high, otherwise the variable know will only push half speed maximum.
