REwire, agreed, Aalto is the best (only?) Buchla-inspired soft synth to date however there are certainly some Euro modules that come close to these sounds. the combination of Z3000 into Piston Honda gets me 75% of these sounds with some LPG and wave folding. Fantastic video BTW, really enjoyed it!
@skrapadelix : The Intellijel uFold has the closest Wave Folder sound to the 259. Also, MakeNoise's DPO (June 2012) has the same functionality of the 259 and mimics many of the sounds I made in this video.
idk what an oscillator is, i just typed it up. this thing is awesome, its purpose im unsure of, but it seems like you could make some great music with this thing
What is the make of the white-faced sequencer you have there? I saw an image of a rack of them, in Vince Clarke's studio, and I was curious who made them.
Wow I thought Morton Subotnick was... somewhere. Are you a musician or an electronic engineer? Is this supposed to be some kind of demo and if so of what?
Musician mostly. Demo of what this Oscillator sounds like. Many new Buchla users and other modular enthusiasts can use this to gauge sound, unuqueness and quality of vintage to modern gear and judge need and purchasing desires.
Thanks man, it is very nice and I'm sure it's very expensive too. I always wanted a modular synth but have nnever had the cash. I'm thinking about getting a software setup for my computer, something like the Moog modular simulation (if that's the right word). Did you see the video of that guy who found a Buchla in the trash? If only...
This is the DEVICE PERFORMED IN THE "SAN FRANCISCO'S TRIP FESTIVAL" iN 1966? Don Buchla (Subotnik's Tape Electronic Research) made the CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ELECTRONIC AVANT-GARDE AND PYCHEDELIC COUNTER CULTURE.

Who buys it when there are much more sophisticated synths for only few hundred dollars? You can go to native-instruments dot com and check out the state of the art synths of today like Massive and the Reaktor

Surprisingly, Aalto is very close to the sound of this oscillator, better than any Euro module has been able to achieve.

Pomana banana style colored pathcords. Flimsy. Not 1/4 plugs, BUT an advantage is they are stackable.

All musical instruments arguably have oscillators

Buchla is awesome but they need to lower the price (A LOT) or make (A LOT) of good virtual Buchlas!!!
GqFq 2 years ago
@GqFq I have never seen any virtual buchlas, LINKS NOW.
They are priced well for the amount of work that goes into them though
dustytretch 1 year ago
@dustytretch Hmmmm , and how much would cost something like this? I know , i know. I really enjoy the sound of Buchla a lot better than Moog.
