  • legend of a song

  • Oh yes, first love, first ciggie, first snog

  • very nice thank you. Do you know how to get a video of them singing sweets for my sweets, I cant seem to find that one...

  • nice post good footage easy 4 stars

  • What a fantastic group. It was all about the music then, and boy did they exhibit that!

  • back then , they relied on their talent and not gimmicks. there was no crotch grabbing , no special vocal effects , no synthesized music. The drifters were among the last of the true artists with talent abounding.

The drifters didnt do any of the crap that you see disgusting music mouthers of today do....no scandals , no betty ford clinic, no widespready stories of drug and tattoo abuse.

The drifters were artists in the purest form and they represent a group of a dying breed of artists.

  • Absolutely, %100 agree. There is nooooo comparison. I didn't grow up during this era. I came a little later, but developed an appreciation for the talent and originality of back then.

  • The Drifters made some nice music, but to say they are "last of the true artists" is just plain wrong. There are lots of artists today who make wonderful music without doing any of the things, you mention. The Drifters however got into fights with their managers. Besides, there are plenty of gimmicks in the video, just look at the winks and rolling of the eyes.

    Btw, what is tattoo abuse?!?

  • definition of tattoo & drug abuse is answered by 2 words..AMY WINEHOUSE. LOl

ok so yes the legendary phil spector did have his wall of sound (yes he did have a "thing" for the ronettes) and most of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN is done by an electric keyboard with an unlimited ability to make any sound you want but all that aside..what did the drifters rely on ?

their voices , plain and simple.

can hannah montana or pink sound good without sound gimmicks ? uh---scratch pink , bad example...LOL

  • the best there was in there prime nice to see some footage

  • classic! Thinking of my babe + this song = goosebumps!

  • Music-I mean this much good music- has the power to make so many people happy for nothing or almost nothing!

So, musicians have the right to get rewarded decently indeed.

  • this record allways cheers me up

  • Mmmm...thx for uploading...going down memory lane is a wonderful trip to take when music was music.

  • Very good song.

  • There really is no such group as the "original Drifters " unless you go back to the early 50s when Cylde McFatter was still alive. However there many diff. lead singers on the Drifters recording. Bill Pickney the last "original Drifter died on 7-4-2007. Charlie Thomas who was the lead on "Under the Boardwalk" still tours with his Drifters group as does Ron McFatter (Cylde's son). OK, class is now dismissed!

  • charlie moore had the best drifters voice then clyde mcphatter and a toss up between ben e king and charlie thomas

  • where has the time gone.... 45 years or so ago...

  • still a great song, whatever, whoever but they wont sing it like these guys did, fan freakin tastic

  • Love this song!!

  • figure they don't try to HIIIIIDDDEEE *scary face*

  • Disney's DTV version please.

  • omg im supporting the drifters in manchester at the willows!!! on the 17th of january

  • "The Drifters" who now tour are neither the original Drifters nor those who sang on the later hits in the 70`s. Theyre just someone who call themselves The Drifters and sing Drifters songs. Basically a tribute band.

  • Johhny Moore sang lead in this song, one of the best singers the Drifters ever had!!! What a great voice!!! Shame he wasn't alive for the recent Drifters reunion on PBS.

  • Johnny had an unforgettably sweet voice - at least we have the recordings. Beautiful.

  • nice, got the jackson 5 version from 1967 too.

  • Grandioos !!

  • Except it is SUNDAY and we are going to the First Baptist Church on Flagler to see "The Christmas Tree." It is the story of the past, present and THE FUTURE. GOD BLESS, BE SAFE, BE WARM, BE GOOD, BE HEALTHY, ETC. ETC.ETC.

  • thankyou and amen to that brother....or sister!

  • Could have been one generation's hymn... all friends, no hate, a world to see and a girl to love!

  • mint this remind me off me n mah bf gettin into eachother at the picturess mint days !!

  • :) :) one of my favorite songs...

  • LLLLLLLLove this oldie I remember it when I was very young awesome to hear and boogie to those were the days.KOOL

  • This is such a great video!...makes you want to get up and dance.

  • im only 18

  • Don't worry. We won't hold that against you.. ;)

  • The lead singer on this video is Johnny Moore, not Ben E. King.

  • The displayed lyrics for these karaoke videos always crack me up. It would be good if they got people who knew the language to write these things instead.... lol

  • huh? i dont get it lol, im english n the words were all word perfect to the song :S lol

  • I saw three errors right off. They wrote "popcorns" instead of "popcorn", "seems" instead of "seem", as well as spelling errors, spelling "neighborhood" as "neighbourhood"..... Before you get your shorts in a twist, I know you all spell that word differently, but this is an American song so our spelling goes... lol

  • ok, my bad on the s's lol, n i was gonna say neighbourhood is spelt right till i see ur fing bout american spellin lol, do u reli not have a 'u' in it? lol

  • o n dont worry im not gettin ma shorts in a twist haha, its just a song, i ent that fussed lmao, jus wondered wot was rong with it lol, but now u told me :) hehe

  • I was just kidding, actually it was basically correct... Yeah, we spell some words differently here. It happened when they changed spellings over a hundred years ago in the US, but neither is really incorrect. I was just pulling your leg... ;)

  • lol :)

  • Pure quality, talent, thanks for posting

  • You can never beat quality.

  • Brilliant Brilliant

  • truly great stuff. doesnt get much better. tanks for posting
