  • to all you guys that say things like" thats not his kit " you don't know if that is his kit or not

  • @12jonaskor It's not he plays on a tama. That is not a tama.

  • @DTxOctavariumx i know he plays tama and i know that thats not a tama kit

but he can always be filling in for a other drummer

  • @12jonaskor It was a guest appearance.

  • @12jonaskor You are right! But I know it isn't! It's Collin Leijenaars kit! He is Neal Morse drummer during his solo European tours! And Collin does use Drumframe en DJ drums!

  • That kit looks like it was set up in 5 mins. look at the angle the low tom is on

  • he's not comfortable on those drums.. if you look carefully you will see that mike it's not confortable...

  • Wow, just realized I was there, cool :D

  • this is dw...not his kit...

  • THERE ARE EARTHQUAKES EVERY TIME MIKE HITS THE DRUMS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa bleh hehe.

  • Lol, when he hit to bass drum whole kit is shaking xD

  • TOO MANY MICS! :D

  • Mike Portnoy playing amazingly on a kit foreign to him... why am I not surprised at all?

  • i love how much the camera moves with every kick....

  • WaOoO CON QUE SEGURIDAD TOCA ESTE MAESTRO !!! Es un ritmo basico pero el estilo de mike lo hace mas interesante. THE BEST!! Saludos desde Oaxaca.Mex.

    (guiti)

  • that is his transanlantic kit

  • Great rare vid!!!

    *****

    ROCK ON!

  • That's not his kit, he is using another drummer's drum, those double pedals are "DW", and those cymbals are "Zildjian"

  • wait y the fuck the camera moves when the bass drum is hit?

  • Mike Portnoy simply has the most clever drum-ideas i have ever seen!!!sometimes....omg... ;-) THEATER RULES

  • I really want that throne...

  • yeap the drum set up is quite different that he uses commonly and indeed he did a tiny mistake at the beginning but then he did very well after.

    MP rules!

  • i dont think thats his... there are no signature stax

  • cest bon!!! merci mike

  • J'ADORE cette chanson!! A BIENTOT MIKE

  • I guess every drummer feels VERY uncomfortable sitting at someone else's kit and playing on the spot; Mike sure didn't escape that rule :o)

  • That is the kit that MIke uses when play with Transatlantic. It's not a guest star but hte official drummer of that band....

    we can see

    podemos ver!

  • I think, is Bob Gatzen Kit.

  • No its Collin Leijenaar's kit.

  • LMAO looks like he's not accustomed to that kit. He keeps missing the bass drum pedal one in the beginning and later in 3:40

  • That is not his kit.

  • you're brilliant! Thanks for sharing ;)

  • @Wickydeviking hahahahahah

  • @aigaleada It was a Neal Morse gig and the drum set belongs to Collin Leijenaar.

  • @aigaleada it is his kit. It's not fucking massive kit he uses with Dream Theater, but this is his Transatlantic kit.

He uses different kits for different bands. He also uses another kit for Liquid Tension Experiment. You can look on his site :)

  • @aigaleada

You're the one who exactly knows how many kits Mike has. xD

He can stop with the music ans start to sell his kits and 3 generations will have enough to eat ;)

  • Funnym they are in Sweden and Rione is not there... :)

  • Those amps must've been cookin'! Every time MP hit his bass the camera shook. Amazing!

  • i fuckin love this guy man. he just flows.

i dont even think uc an practice to be as good as him, some of it u have to just have.

  • haha 3:44 mike missed the pedal look at his face was like OOOooooOOpps hehehehehe

  • Whats up with the "pedal board" and the chair?

  • it's not his kit. i'm guessing he was just there as a guest.

  • ahahah i missed the first hit on the bass drum, becouse i thought that his foot was on the pedal lol!

  • lol

  • FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK I Missed that! Fucking SHIT I missed Neal Morse!! =O =(

  • In Italy said: Mike con questa batteria sembra un pesce fuor d'acqua.

  • sembra sdraiato a suonare :-)

  • You should watch him play the Beatles cover in Yellow Matter Custard... that's a small drumkit :P

  • I sow Portnoy at NY with the YMC

  • dw9002 twin pedal ?

  • DW9000 ;)

  • @Wickydeviking actually the 9000 is the single pedal, the 9002 is the double configuration, if im not mistaken

  • Yes, a DW 9002 twin pedal!

  • he missed the pedal two times :-)

    great mike

  • Awsome to see it from this angle!

  • what kind of drum i that ?

  • That is my 7-piece DJ Drums.

  • for real? slick...

  • Thanks so much ! Awesome !!

    Mike, you ROCK !

  • I don't know how one can play with such high bassdrum, awkward :P

  • what do you mean high? It's just angled.

  • @Wickydeviking extremely angled, yeah that's what I meant. I think Collin's kit is so awkwardly set up... he's got this board that stands under his pedals, it's weird.

  • @Wickydeviking It looks like there is some kind of platform there though..raising it up and causing that angle. no matter what it does look awkward.

  • Everything is angled by about 30 degrees, it should make it easier on the spine if anything.

  • @fabioadias Along with the throne and the rest of the kit.

  • Monster

  • Portnoy is beautiful

  • And so the seed was planted...and grow it did. Now, we can look forward to new Transatlantic in 2009.

  • cool to see how the bass drum shakes the camara :P
