Christianity is without doubt a foul and festering source of world evil, and has been for centuries... Christ dies for his own sins and nobody else's, and is still paying for his wickedness in the darkest caverns of hell.... Presided upon by his all merciful father - horrid shit
God loves you so much that if you don't love him back he has no option but to condemn you to everlasting eternal torture because he is a just God. Lol.
But of course it's your fault your going to hell not Gods. Why does God blame you? Because he can, what are you going to do about it asshole?
Christianity has flaws, but most Christians are decent people. With that in mind, the Bible needs to be re-written.
It's time we replaced it with a different book that doesn't blackmail people with Hell, condemn gays, deny Evolution, or advocate the stoning of rape victims who didn't scream loud enough. Let's combine all the Gospels together into one consistent plot, add just enough backstory to provide context, make it more focused on the characters and their interactions, (cont.)
@occultdude17 (cont.) and remove the Author Filibusters in favour of them showing us through example. Not only will it make a far more satisfying read and generate enough controversy to sell billions of copies, but it will be truer to the beliefs most Christians hold.
@occultdude17 Agreed, most Christians are decent people. Just as are most atheists. Religion doesn't have an impact on that...although few zealots are decent people, I would say.
Bible versions do change a bit with time...but alas not nearly fast enough to keep up with reality.
@Underlings It's because they change the wrong things. Translators try to twist specific passages to make the Biblical authors seem less stupid, without stopping to consider if the overall message should be preached to little kids.
When I get the time, I intend to re-write the Gospels in the style of a fantasy novel, making them readable, Jesus relatable, and ensuring that it's the sort of stuff we WANT kids to read about, without being too unfaithful (pun intended) to the original text.
@occultdude17 Not a bad idea. But I think I'd prefer to write a fantasy-style novel being entirely faithful to the original text enough to make it a true horror story. ;-)
@Underlings Even better, we throw in casual references to the barbarities committed in God's name and make a joke around it. Accomplishes both goals simultaneously, but also forces people to stop and think about the biblical text without us having to take sides at all.
Just a thought on parents killing their children to send them to heaven.
If you're a christian you have to believe that the kids did go to heaven (meaning that they were right) or that they are in hell (as the catholic church has stated that there is no purgatory).
If they went to heaven then wouldn't your life be better spent freeing the souls of thousands of children even if it meant burning in hell forever?
Societies, where there is a robust welfare state and education system and the least difference between the very rich and very poor are shown to be happier, and to have less crime (This is the same list you cited for the least religious). Are they less religious because they are better societies or are they better societies because they are less religious? I suspect that it is the former, ie if people feel safe and happy, they don't need the delusion of of a religious comforter.
@1empathy I mentioned the correlation without specifying the cause of the correlation, since I don't think there are definitive answers on which is the cause and which is the effect. I also mention it in my Morality video. I think the most telling correlation is intelligence and education with atheism. The smarter and more educated one is, the more likely one is to spot the flaws in religious arguments, understand naturalistic explanations, and strive for more equitable societies.
@Underlings Hey no criticism, great vid and i'm subscribing. My opinion (not researched, but i've read and experienced stuff that influences me) is that religion is less important when you expect your children to live and prosper. I agree on education, although in the UK we have a pretty good education system but our muslim population either refuses to send them to state schools or re-educates them at saudi funded madrassas tio counteract any rerason or science. As i said, I like your style :o)
@1empathy Oh, I didn't take it as criticism--I just added my own take on it.
It's a disturbing trend when people "re-educate" children to discredit science. We see something similar to that in the US with home schooling. Really a bad precedent....
@shaingoule Ah, I wish I knew more about other religions. My expertise is confined mostly to Christianity, although I've been exposed to a LOT of different religions, having lived in numerous other countries much of my life. It's because of fundie Christianity's negative impact on science that I studied them. Know your enemy, after all.
@shaingoule I'm all for freedom of religion...but I don't think fundies who want to change society to fit their religious dogma should have a right to do so--in fact, I'd love to see that made illegal, personally.
@BigMarkusFella Well, atheism is an opposition to theism, not necessarily to the occult. And Satanism is part of Christianity. However, on that video of best videos I mentioned, there's a whole section on critical thinking that would apply to all faith-based beliefs.
@BigMarkusFella Through education and a willingness to think for one's self. Take a look at my video on the best videos on evolution, atheism, etc. It has a link to nearly a thousand videos on all sorts of topics, arranged into appropriate categories. You'll almost certainly find answers to any questions you may have. And if not...don't be afraid to ask! :-)
@wrecklessperson I respect the right for people to believe what they wish. What I DON'T respect is the attempts by religion to undermine scientific education by replacing facts with dogma. Since the vast majority of religions have little or no impact on US society, I have nothing against them. My videos are directed at evil religion, not harmless religion.
"May God have mercy on your soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Don't be insulting. Why would I want mercy from an evil monster?
@wrecklessperson Simple: Fundamentalist Christianity is the religion I KNOW. Plus it's the only one that is causing great damage to scientific education as well as trying to impose its dogma on my life (my rationale can be found on my channel page). Religious conservatism is a cancer in the US, and I'm a philosophical oncologist, specializing in the Bible. :-)
@projectlevydelta While you're at it, why don't you see God as a big fluffy bunny who loves pizza? What you think doesn't matter. Only the evidence matters, and the evidence is that IF the God of the Bible is true, he is evil by the very standards we use to identify evil beings.
@projectlevydelta Yes, though shalt not kill is stupid. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a person to live without killing, even if you're a vegetarian. Oh, you mean though shalt not murder? Well, the problem with that is murder is illegal killing of a person...so the law says it's against the law to break the law. See? Watch my video and see for yourself.
Coveting is the American way! And the rest are laws from the Code of Hammurabi CENTURIES before the 10 Commandments.
@projectlevydelta Well, an evil dictator can torture or kill any of his citizens if he wants, but that doesn't make him any less evil. Sure, you can kiss his ass and he may treat you better than those who don't...but that just means you've abdicated your morality. The more noble act is to stick to your principles, even if it means you will suffer for it.
So yes, I say that because God is evil we should rebel against him in the only way we can--by turning our backs on him.
@projectlevydelta So your argument is basically that BECAUSE many humans commit atrocities, we should overlook God's atrocities? Sorry, but that's clearly insane. When ANYONE commits atrocities he should be held accountable for it. And since we can't throw God in jail for the horrors he's inflicted, we should do what we can to punish him. Since he has a sick compulsion to be worshiped by everyone, we should explicitly NOT worship him. How else to punish such evil?
@projectlevydelta Catholicism falls EXACTLY under the definition of religion AND under the definition of Christian. So you're simply wrong there.
And YOU can worship God all day and it doesn't mean you follow him or are going to heaven. Catholics have JUST as much claim to believing they're "right" as you do.
What you're using is the "No true Scotsman" fallacy (look it up). So your claim is completely invalid.
@projectlevydelta So you believe Yahweh, even though Yahweh's god says Yahweh is a liar? Plus, of course, all my evidence in these videos also prove he's a liar. Also, what about all the OTHER gods that claim they're the only truth?
And if you don't worship weak creators, why worship Yahweh? He can't even provide ANY empirical evidence he exists!
But why would you worship ANYONE? NOBODY deserves to be worshiped, and no one GOOD would WANT to be worshiped.
@projectlevydelta Atheism isn't the "perfect religion"...because it ISN'T a religion! All it means is that you don't believe in gods. You already don't believe in Zeus, I'll bet. Do you consider your disbelief in Zeus to be a religion? Of course not!
The problem with religions is that they COMMAND people to abuse other people. That's why Christians abuse gays and witches--there is no other reason to hate them EXCEPT for religion. Religious dogma DOES justify evil behavior.
@projectlevydelta Since when have I defended the evil behavior of humans? This isn't ABOUT humans. It's about the evil GOD commits. For instance, if someone commits a crime, he should be punished for that crime. He shouldn't be punished in a manner that is INSANELY out of proportion to his crime, nor should his children be killed because of his crimes. To do so would be evil behavior, right? Well, that's EXACTLY what God does. His punishment is so unjust...it's evil.
@Anglichanen How so? I came up with all this myself...and it applies against Jews as much as against any other religion. So I'm not sure how it can be called Jewish propaganda.
@Underlings Always painting Hitler as an evil racist murderer when if fact they only wanted to free themselves from Jewish control in their own country. The Jews run the media and so they can portray him into whatever they want. Why not use an example of the Communists who killed many millions more and who was run by the Jews? The holocaust is very debatable and many died of disease, starvation, dysentry etc but i dont think any were gassed as it was too exponsive and dangerous to staff.
@Anglichanen So you're argument is that Hitler's rounding up and killing of Jews was justified because the only way to persuade them was to exterminate them, and his gassing of Jews wasn't so bad because many of those he'd put in concentration camps died from other means? I agree that Stalin and others killed more people...but there's no question Hitler was about as evil a person as can be.
And since media is so broad-based now, it's hard to accept any claim it's run by the Jews.
@Underlings the poles and slavs died too as did millions of Germans 28 million soviets fighting them yet we just hear about 6 million Jews. Well the numbers of Jews before and after the war was roughly the same. Ijust dont buy the holocaust anymore and if i was in Germany i would go to prison for even questioning it. This is wrong. It should be open debate. You're right about the hypocracy is religion though but many Jews knock Christianity and claim to be atheists when they are hardline Jews
@Anglichanen The evidence for the Holocaust is overwhelming. Eyewitnesses from thousands of soldiers from all over the world, photographs, testimony from the survivors, the paper trail...but I agree deniers shouldn't go to jail.
What makes the Jewish deaths so horrible is HOW they were killed. Dying while fighting is one thing; being exterminated like rats is another.
I don't know a LOT of Jews, but those I do know are some of the least offensive people I know.
Hey D, hope you are well. It's been a while since I've visited & checked out your vids.
Bro, they just get better & better. This one, as with the others, was just brilliantly done. But I wanted to praise this one for a particular reason. It's one of the few I've seen where the genocide of Native Peoples in the Americas was mentioned along the other murderous campaigns against non-Xians.
I've lost relatives just 3 generations above me in the wars defending our land against Xian invaders
@Cootabux Heya, Cootabux! You're most welcome. My next vid should be out soon, but it's very different from anything else I've done.
Yeah, Xians wiped out not just many Amarinds, but native peoples all over the world...all done in the name of Christianity and, worse, seen by the Xians as lovingly spreading the word of God to heathens, not realizing they were destroying precious cultures and dooming their people to poverty and misery. Such waste....
In reading this it reminded me of how Xians wiped out entire cultures. The Spanish Church, wiped out untold valuable scientific (Astronomy & medicine) tablets of the Aztec & Inca...& who knows how many others we don't even know about.
It's hard for me not to harbor a deep seated hatred for them. Some of the things they did to us isn't mentioned in history books, & often isn't told to many non-Indians. The early Xian church was the epitome of evil...after their Mafia leader, that is.
Stalin wanted to become a Christian priest. But they did not want him, so he became a revolutionary. He joined Lenin, opposed the October revolution and wanted to work with the bourgeoisie government of Kerensky. After the civil war he became leader of the communist party and introduced his own ideology. He created the Stalinist religion and ideology and gave communism its totalitarian look.
But communism is not evil. Karl Marx and Lenin never wanted a totalitarian state.
this is really good!...unfortunately I think that the people it really refers to, do not use youtube for "educational" reasons..why isn't this a one video film-documentary?...
@GRGSGNS Thanks! Well, I just have the skills to do YouTube-quality videos, so that's what I do. But that doesn't mean it can't reach a wide audience--after all, professional documentaries are much more likely to end up on YouTube than the other way around!
@Underlings I meant to say why don't you put all the parts together and present it like a one hour (or whatever) film documentary here on youtube in one video.
@GRGSGNS Oh, understood. Well, YouTube only allows videos greater than ten minutes in length if you created all the content yourself (and you have to be invited to become a partner). Since I downloaded the vast majority of the images for the videos from the web, the videos I have been invited to partner with don't qualify. Alas. Wish I could--I'd certainly prefer to put the first four parts into a single video.
@sapperbloggs You're right about that--it's called Godwin's Law, I believe. Hitler and Nazis are overused in arguments, but mainly inappropriately. In this case, though, we're talking about the ultimate evil God, so it makes sense (to me, at least) to compare him to the ultimate evil human...and most people would say that's Hitler. And it's especially apropos because Hitler believed he was doing God's work. I don't think anyone else fits the argument quite so perfectly.
LOL.. I hope you see the insanity of making a video, with a target audience who are some sort of fundamentalists, that starts with falsifiability! =/

Awesome video tho.
newexperiment 1 year ago
@newexperiment Yeah, there's definite irony in trying to use logical arguments to prove fundies wrong...but it's still fun. Thanks.
