I think the waves were similar. If anything the actual eddie was bigger. The thing about the actual day though is that the waves were cleaner. Monday, the day I shot this, was really choppy and much more difficult to ride, the big sets weren't as consistent, and so it was good they waited!

About 20 years ago, I ATTEMPTED to try body boarding for the first time at Waimea Bay.

The weather in the previous days had been pretty stormy so the waves at the bay were big, not as big as in this video, but for a NYer....they were BIG.

All I can say is that I got my ass kicked BAD that day! (punctured ear drum!!!)

Thanks! To be honest, I couldn't tell who I was seeing. I did see some guys get slammed. One or two got dumped hard off the crest, saw quite a few broken boards as well. Crazy waves over here right now!
