that first beach was perfect to learn on, the second beach was trashy and i wouldnt even go out in it for a dip.

I was surprised you were able to convince your instructor to change locations. The first site had better forming waves, which was indicated by the kayaker, but you probably already figured that out. Longboards and smaller better formed waves are better for learning.
